I really really want a dub for Digimon Adventure Tri that's stylistically consistent with the Saban dub of the original. Ska punk rescoring, dumb puns everywhere, calling attacks, the whole shebang. With the subtitled original so readily available, what's the point of doing a "straight" dub, you know? Nostalgia being the point of Tri, a hypothetical English version should engage with that nostalgia from the corresponding western Digimon experience angle, you know? Am I bonkers?
Hell naw, brah! I mean, I think if I was comparing what I want to something, it’d be a dub along the lines of Tamers or Frontier, or “Revenge of Diaboromon” - one where any comedy was usually fairly naturalistic and well-timed, and not jammed in and every turn-around as the result of corporate micro-management, as was the case with 02.
merry melodies were also a WB thing, not disney
I was thinking of Silly Symphonies, that was the Disney one
Merry Melodies came later
I hope Chibnall embraces a more room-driven direction for Doctor Who. I trust his technical expertise at Making A Show but don't have much faith in any of his creative ideas, so hopefully he doesn't try to ape the Moffat/RTD Showrunner model and instead takes a more distant approach.
There’s certainly some great up-and-coming writers like Dollard and Harness and Mathieson that would make the writer’s room approach probably quite fruitful. I’d definitely be interested in seeing that.
Blast Off is actually Rook with his torso turned 180 at the waist, a new "backpack" on his chest, and wacky new arms..
Hmm, I’ve got Rook here in front of me and while I can see some similarities, I think that’s more down to the CW dudes sharing similar engineering for the sake of being proportionate limbs than any mold reuse.
it would be pretty cool if uw blast off’s hand-boosters worked like rook’s hands tho
I mean I think you should be considerate of the fact that, actually, a LOT of the people who write OPs like that and/or with whom those OPs resonate are actual kids who don't have much experience with more grown-up media but yeah there's this massively ahistorical lack of perspective and scope. I just resolved myself to trusting that they'll grow out of it.
kids also have google
what's your beef with River Song?
I take issue with the fact that she is not being fired into the sun at this very moment.
Your "assumption that a gay man is liquid" joke is possibly the funniest fucking thing ever posted on this terribad website and you should be very proud of it just fyi
