Brindleface: The Darkest Hour
#32 Brindleface
A pale gray tabby she-cat with darker flecks and green eyes.
Honestly, I don’t have too much of an opinion on her when she was alive. Everything I have to say abt her also has to do with her kids (or when she died), which is a shame because she seems so nice
Design Notes:
- The first character in which I don’t base a design of their name. You see, “Brindle” is a ‘tiger striped coat pattern consisting of browns, red and tans’. And brindle is simply none of those, so I based her design of her canon one
- On that note, I had snow leopard’s in mind when I was doing her pattern, a choice I will elaborate on in her incel of a son’s post.
Headcannons:
• According to the books (Bluestar’s Prophecy), Brindleface is said to be Frostfur’s littermate???For the sake of the family tree, and the fact that we never see them interact like that (at least not in a major way), imma say, no they aren’t. Instead, they are best friends that are close like sisters.
•For that same reason, they are NOT Fuzzypelt & Robinwing’s kits. It makes Dust/Fern weirder than it was already, and messes up the family tree. They could be the relatives of the elders in Bluestars SE (Mumblefoot, Larksong, and/or Weedwhisker), or some other clan cat. Either way, both her and Frost are fully clanborn, they’re just don’t belong to Fuzzy and Robin. Now onto actually headcannons abt Brindle herself
• Brindle was the quiet and kinda awkward one, while Frost was the elegant yet kind one, making her popular among the other apprentices/young warriors doing their time. Brindle never envied her friend for this, but she did wish she was able to talk to other cats better.
• Bluestar (her mentor), helped boost her confidence a little bit, and they talked with eachother even after she got her warrior name. She and Golden were good acquaintances due to this, but they grew closer after Tigerclaw got exiled (Even if it was for a short time).
• As mentioned in Whitestorm’s post, he was not the father of Brindle’s litter. Instead, the sire was a white Tom named Ghost, who Brindle met between the latter half of Bluestar’s SE, and the beginning of Into The Wild. They met during a border skirmish in which Brindle spared him, and he admired her for mercy and kindness. I’ll go over him in his own post.
• Related to the last point, she adopted Cloud because she reminded her of Ghost (Edit: after actually working on Ghost’s story, imma say no she didn’t- sorry for the abrupt edit)
• Brindle liked to collect feathers, pretty stones, and pretty much anything that either looks cool or shiny. She would decorate camp with them, along with her best friend & Runningwind, and give the parts that weren’t used to the kits to play with.
• In spirit, she stayed behind to watch Frost, before leaving to watch over her kits instead
