A kiss so desperate that the two wind around each other, refusing to let go until they are finished.
Sylvie watched as the crew left on a call, yelling at them to be safe. She was on desk duty until baby number 2 arrived, which would be soon. She knew that Jordan was with Donna, who offered to watch her during the summer, and she knew that if something happened, she would let her know. Sylvie couldn’t ignore the feeling in her gut that something was off.
She ran a hand over her belly absentmindedly, listening to the radio and what was happening during the call. Her heart sank when she heard Matt’s voice through the radio, saying he was stuck. It was all she could do not to drive to the scene to help. She calmed a little when she heard Severide’s reply saying he was on his way to help.
Once she heard that they were out of harms way, she went to the app floor to wait for them, needing to see for herself that they were ok. She perched herself on the squad table, legs swinging slightly.
She watched as the trucks and ambo pulled into the bay, and she stood up, eyes searching for her husband. She spotted him with soot-covered hair and cheeks. The look in his eyes was that of someone with a rough call. She knew that he was going to his quarters, and she followed. He let her in, grabbing a wipe from the pack on his desk to get the grim off his face.
Sylvie watched as he turned on his music, the soft sound of Angels Among Us playing in the background. “He was Jordy’s age. His baby brother just a few days old, if that.” He says, voice thick. Sylvie motions for him to sit next to her, and she wraps her arms around him.
“I’m sorry, babe. I am. Want me to call Donna and have her bring Jordan over?” She asks as she runs a hand through his hair. “No. I need you.” He says, lifting his head, searching her features.
“When I heard you were stuck, I was scared. Scared that Jordy and the little nugget wouldn’t have their dad.” She whispers as Matt pulls her in for a kiss.
The kiss conveyed every emotion they both had. The fear, love, the desperation to get home safe every day. They broke apart only to breathe as this was the most contact they had had all day. It was a kick to Sylvie’s ribs that broke it off officially as she groaned.
“Nugget hit my ribs hard. That’s the sign that I have to move. I hate this.” She said, attempting to get up, but her balance was off. “Help?” She said as Matt smirked, giving her a hand, his free hand on the small of her back. “I’m sorry for scaring you. Jordy and nugget will have their dad.” He says as they walk out of his quarters, Sylvie leaning into his side.
