Hello. Another text post.

Recently me and my siblings have been watching through 'Brittas Empire' we are currently up to series 3. But although he is incredibly annoying, Brittas is still my favourite character, but for entirely different reasons to Rimmer being my favourite from 'Red Dwarf'.

The thing about Brittas is that he is annoying, but not because he means to. He doesn't realise that others dislike the way he is and has what he feels is best at heart. While Rimmer is just stubborn and thinks with himself at heart. Both are difficult to be around, but Brittas does not mean to be. Rimmer knows that he annoys people and still expects people to like him.

Brittas is my favourite because he is just trying to think of what is best, and he is a good person who just goes about things the wrong way and doesn't realise. He belives that he is nice and he does the best he could.

Meanwhile Rimmer is my favourite because, he is on one hand a self-preserving coward who values his life over others, but he also hates himself. We know this from the many looks into his mind, that although he puts on an act of loving himself and pretending he is a charming and amazing person, while in reality these traits of him are long gone and a feeling of self loathing has taken over. That is why he is my favourite.

As you can see, they although at first look seem very similar they are quite different.

I think i might begin to make more text posts because I enjoy hearing peoples opinions on things I enjoy. See if I agree or disagree. Have a nice day/night if you read this far.

Some of my latter 'characters' are probably a bit different to other people that responded / are more like vague descriptions of characters I pulled from a collection of fanfics but this still sounded fun to do 🤷‍♀️ -- my main reason for tumblr IS kpop so I do apologise but also I'm not sorry 😅😅

4. Chris Barrie / Gordon Brittas - Brittas Empire (I know it's the same actor but tbh Red Dwarf and Brittas Empire really are 2 of my all time favourite sit coms that just happen to both have him in)

6. Robert Downey Jr / Iron Man - Marvel (and yes, it makes this only 9 fandoms but it's still 10 different characters 😅 - also is this a weird crush again? I don't care 😅)

Thirty years of Brittas!!

okay idk if this would be too much, but if/when they do a brittas empire reboot, they should introduce like two or three new, younger characters (in their 20s or 30s) and just have fun with new, younger characters with different views because of that age gap

like one of them has heavy tattoos and so has to wear a sweatshirt with their shorts, but always rolls up their sleeves, and so whenever gordan catches them like that, he looks at them and calls their name, sometimes with a “now what have we talked about with your sleeves?” because he still thinks tattoos are unprofessional and the like, and the employee always just rolls their sleeves down with a “yes mr brittas, sorry mr brittas,” and then five seconds after gordan is gone the sleeves are back up

give us a non-binary employee and gordon being respectful and using they/them pronouns even though he doesn’t really get but “happy employees makes for happy customers” because that’s something he’d say

give us another queer character and gordon’s still just completely oblivious, and they’re friends with tim and gavin and always having a little gossip together, taking about differences in queer acceptance of their generations

give us someone who isn’t white (no funny reason here but just like, I want that)

have an episode with a wheelchair sports team wanting to use the gym but it’s not accessible and so gordon goes overboard in an attempt to make it accessible to all, which ultimately just causes chaos and everything just because unusable because he’s just done so much in such a small leisure centre

an episode with carol’s kids, now adults, coming back and saying hi and being friendly and ben and his partner are expecting a kid, and carol saying “it’s time to clean out the draws again” all teary as if he’s going to want to keep his kid in a draw at the centre

Tim got him a shirt; he’s still a bit iffy on it but he can appreciate a gift (even if it was printed on a spare leisure centre uniform.)

(Also, another thing: I’ve never ever seen Brittas Empire fanart before????? What’s up with that what the hell is stopping y’all)
