New character! Feel free to ask me anything! about her!

Raised to stand up and fight no matter what, Briar ended up in troubles after her interrupted wedding in Denerim. (And Duncan wasn't there to conscript her as a Grey Warden...) She got sold as slave to Tevinter, mind controlled & used as a weapon by the Venatori ever since. But since the magister who used blood magic to make her forget her past died with the demons attack in Minrathous... will she finally be able to break free and redeem herself?

Briar was a city elf, born in Denerim just like any canon Tabris in Dragon Age Origins, except after the wedding, Duncan wasn't there. The nobleman took her. She fought and seemed untameable. At first, it was a fun challenge for Vaughain, but it quickly annoyed him more than anything. He decided to give her to Caladrius, the elf slaver from Tevinter, kidnapping and selling elves thanks to Loghain Mac Tir's help. She was one of them, barely eighteen, far from her remaining family members.

The magister who bought her saw that vivid flame in her eyes. The will to fight. He saw her potential, and decided to train her. For years, he shaped her into the perfect marionette. A strong minded weapon with a tactical spirit. Now free of her past thanks to his use of blood magic, she was fully devoted to his cause: to the Venatori's cause.

In Inquisition, she fought alongside Corypheus armies. For years and years, she has been fighting for a war against her own people, heartlessly and fearlessly.

But in Veilguard, her master died when Solas started the ritual, attacked by surprise by one of the first demon who escaped from the Fade tears. She started to remember her sealed past. First, it seemed blurry, like dreams. But the more time passed, the more tangible everything felt. She saw faces, heard names. People she once cared about. But over twenty years of conditioning cannot simply be erased in a few days. She continued to do what she knew best: fight, lead, control. Blood magic combined with her long, two handed blade.

In my second world state (the one with Alba de Riva!), she will end up having a very slow burn romance with Yvonne Mercar (@melody-loka's Rook, as a companion AU). Enemies to lovers style!

They'll meet on the battlefield, in a blighted Minrathous that she helped destroying. To end up fighting side by side during Blood of Arlathan, and Briar helping the Veilguard (and other factions) with secrets only shared to the Venatori. She still hears Elgar'nan, but uses her own blood magic to limit his control.

During Lucanis & Alba's wedding, Yvonne was caught drinking a little too much by Briar🤭 Briar is not very good at expressing herself, but she cares in her own way. 🤭 Ever since Briar turned against her own Venatori at the end of Veilguard, Yvonne has been a great support. A friend. She never thought she would care for someone. Let alone a group of people.

Although at that time, she didn't realise it. Yvonne, on the other hand... 👀

After fighting against Venatori and Demons, Yvonne have been able to reach the leader of this team. Too powerful for them, Yvonne, Ambroise and Lace have been paralyzed while the Venatori escaped.

I was thinking about how she must have met Ivonne. They couldn’t have met when Ivonne was a soldier because she wouldn’t have enlisted until she was of age. But of course, her parents run the general goods store in Highever, so either Ivonne went with them when making deliveries to Castle Cousland, or they met in the store when Briana was out in town. Either way, I don’t think they met in any special way: no sparks or immidiate attraction. It took at least a year of friendship for something more to happen.

I’ve been all over the place with what I’ve said re: how Briana handles diplomacy, and I think I’ve pinned it down: Briana knows what kinds of things people need: support, money, time, etc. I think she boils down conflicts into how to solve them. She’s less emotionally intelligent, but she can (if subconsciously) identify when she needs to shut up and listen to figure something out. I think she goes unreactive a lot when she’s thinking hard on something.

This one isn’t new, but Briana fucking HATES camping. The year of the Blight is both one of the best and worst times in her life because of it. Best because it’s the year she spent with friends and where she got a year of uninterupted time with the love of her life, and worst because of the Blight and camping. I don’t think she’d ever throw a hissy fit about it, but it definitely doesn’t help her sleep well.
