꧁Shadow Dragon Week 2026🌓꧂

A collection of black & white pen doodles for @shadow-dragon-week done in my A5 sketchbook!

🌓 Day 1 — Shadow & Light: feat. Maevaris Tilani Standing against the other magisters in the Magisterium.

🌓 Day 2 — Freedom & Chains: feat. Verene Mercar (OC/Not a Rook) The freedom of writing newspapers, hiding secret codes, and working for the Threads (and later, the Shadow Dragons) VS their past as a slave, trained to become a Siccari in Vyrantium.

🌓 Day 3 — Hope & Despair: feat. Ashur "The Viper" Vesperian The Viper, one of the leaders of the Shadow Dragons... And The Imperial Divine, Aequitas II. Bringing hope to defeat despair.

🌓 Day 4 — Friends & Enemies: feat. Briar Tabris (OC/Not a Rook) A city elf from Denerim's alienage once sold to Tevinter, turned into a Venatori. After decades fighting by their side, her memory — locked by blood magic — was revealed to her. She decided to unite with her past enemies to defeat the rest of the cultists.

🌓Day 5 — Hightown & Undercity: feat. Tarquin Working in Hightown as a Templar by day, only to better protect the undercity by night.

🌓 Day 6 — Rebellion & Reform: feat. Dorian Pavus From his Inquisition days to his Veilguard era, turning his youthful rebellion act into a reform.

🌓Day 7 — Free Day (The Cobbled Swan): feat. Cida Ciconia Singing on stage at the Cobbled Swan, only to better hide in the shadows off stage. Working with the Threads, but lending a helping hand to the Shadow Dragons whenever the occasion arise.

DA — In my alienage... [Animatic]

(Briar Tabris, Denerim Alienage, 9:52 [Post-Veilguard]) — feat. Yvonne Mercar (Melody's OC), Lorelei (DATV Shadow Dragons seller), Vaughan Kendells (DAO noble in the Tabris origins) & random elven NPCs. With her previously sealed memories unlocked, Briar felt the need to visit the place where she grew up, two blights later. Walking down the streets that raised her alongside her new friend, Yvonne Mercar, she takes a moment to accept this reality and mourn what's been lost. It's been 22 years. She isn't the same teenager who accepted an arranged wedding to save her family. She isn't innocent, anymore. Well aware of her indirect contribution to this, as a Venatori, she gets submerged by culpability. But as always, since the day she's been sold to the Empire, her face expresses little no nothing.💔

Since the anime is airing, I resumed the manga where I left it and my brainrot inspired me to... mix the brainrots.

DATV — Bloody hands🩸

(Briar Tabris, ex-venatori, Act Ⅱ, 9:52 Dragon)

"Their blood is on your hands, now. You can use it to reshape the future, or let it dry until your blade is thirsty for more. I give you this one chance, Briar, don't make me regret it.🩸" — Alba De Riva

Dialogue with Alba De Riva, after "Blood of Arlathan" in ActⅡ, where he trusted her to secure his way out and helped his team save the dalish elves. She turned against her own troops, so he had to give her a second chance. They both have a lot of blood on their hands, after all.

In this doodle, I mixed the sanguinary elements with some Tevinter murals and symbolism. The broken chain, symbolising the blood magic that was twisting her mind for the last decades until the spell broke. The white snake and black dragons fighting, like a constant Ouroboros. Her own blood mixing with the Shadow Dragons & other people she killed as a venatori zealot and leader for all those years. Things she has to face, acknowledge and remember, to avoid history repeating.

Note: This Tabris isn't a Warden. She's the "What if Duncan never got Tabris out of trouble?" character, who was sold to the Tevinter Imperium by Loghain and Caladrius as a slave, and blood magic was used to reshape her memories. For about two decades, she worked as a venatori, leading troops all over Thedas as a tactician. At the start of DATV, her master was killed by the demons attacking Minrathous during the ritual. Her locked memories started to come back. First as dreams, then as vivid souvenirs. Until she turned against the Venatori, when she put the puzzle together.

Little colour theory for yall🎨 Some of these portraits looks nicer the others, and that's because the core values of a few flags are too similar. (eg. bi, trans and pan)! It's more noticeable in black and white, to see which one are more striking with their contrast!
