#broadway bites

Finally got around to visiting Mochidoki, a ice cream mochi joint, in both their Turnstyle location (which they share with 16 Handles) and their Broadway Bites pop-up booth for this summer. While the Turnstyle location is their permanent location, I’d actually recommend swinging by their Broadway Bites pop-up booth before it closes for the summer (lasting only until mid-June I believe). At this location, you can get mochi pops or in sundae form. 

Somehow I managed to narrow it down to four flavors: the Pop on the Rocks (passionfruit mochi w/condensed milk and strawberry pop rocks), S’mochi (chocolate mochi w/toasted marshmallows and teddy grahams), Birthday Cake (strawberry mochi w/condensed milk and rainbow sprinkles), and the Halo Halo (coconut mochi w/ube condensed milk and popcorn). My personal favorites were probably the Halo Halo and Birthday Cake mochi pops, though I definitely want to try the Mochi-Charron or Matcha Pistachio flavors the next time I’m in the Greeley Square area again.

Visited the Big Mozz + Cookie Do booth at Broadway Bites, a seasonal pop-up food court located in Greeley Square (midtown). This is a collaboration between Big Mozz and Do where they sell fried cookie dough bites, along with mozzarella sticks which I’ve heard good things about as well. 

I ended up getting the 6 piece cookie dough bites which was 2 of each flavor: chocolate chip, birthday cake, and brownie. Each were scrumptious in their own way though I’d have to say that my personal favorite was the birthday cake cookie dough bite. This collaboration lasts until mid-June I believe with Broadway Bites, so if you’re a cookie dough fanatic and in midtown, I’d definitely recommend visiting the pop-up booth.

Got around to visiting Cryo Cream at the Broadway Bites midtown location, not too far from Penn Station. I had heard of their liquid nitrogen ice cream but it was pretty cool seeing them make it in person. I got the Glampfire ice cream sundae the first time I went (made with Graham cracker ice cream, toasted marshmallow, chocolate syrup injector, homemade graham crackers, pop-rocks), and then tried the Chocolate Relapse sundae (Chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, coco puffs, white chocolate whipped cream, and Valrhona dark chocolate syrup injector). 

Admittedly, I think I preferred the Glampfire ice cream sundae the best and the best way to describe what makes the ice cream different than regular ice cream is definitely the texture, which kind of reminded me of gelato. I think Broadway Bites is only around for a few more weeks so if you’ve been wanting to try liquid nitrogen ice cream, I’d recommend hitting up Cryo Cream before it leaves for the summer.
