Do you see any retired MTA buses and subway trains in these old photos from Broadway Junction, Brooklyn? The buses and trains are newer now, but the infrastructure remains essentially unchanged (except for a new bus command center nearby which apparently has had a lot of structural defects). There is so much potential for this hub, where many elevated and underground lines meet and even cross over and under the LIRR, a freight line (the Bay Ridge Branch), and many busy streets (which are at some locations tunneled under and bridged over train lines too). It's a dream world for transit infrastructure enthusiasts, but it is also ironically, because of all the mobility infrastructure, an immobile area with many physical divides keeping it from becoming a destination itself. it is clear #ICE, #MTA & #NYPD are working together, targeting the churro ladies in the subway. a second arrest just took place at Myrtle Wyckoff & apparent there is a building protest at Broadway Junction. we can not stand for this. this is clearly a racist, targeted hit job on women who are just trying to make a living. after living in Brooklyn for almost 17 years, I can confidently say I’ve seen these women in subway stations the entire time. the timing of these arrests are clearly from the top & have nothing to do with what they are doing & everything to do with the color of their skin. this is bullshit & @nycmayor @billdeblasio has to answer for the actions of @icegov @mtanyctransit & @nypd. we need answers. get to #BroadwayJunction if you can. #FuckICE #StopICE (at Injustice in the Legal System) https://www.instagram.com/p/B4vAP5uhWNf/?igshid=1rw71j4euch82
