This was bad. If Saskatchewan heard that he lost Ralph, he would never hear the end of it. How could one man on heavy painkillers get lost in the seconds it takes to get milk out of the giant refrigerator in the grocery store? He had no choice but to bring him with him, he needed to get groceries at least for supper that night.
Now he had to run through all the aisles until he found this drugged idiot, hoping he was still in the store. He searched for any indication that Ralph was in the area. Small signs like the colourful cereals on the higher shelves have been moved, anything with dinosaurs on them moved or missing, sodas with similar colour schemes as the beers he like in odd places, subtle signs like that.
Finally he spotted him in the self-checkout, trying to find the right amount of money in his wallet to pay for whatever was on the counter in front of him with one hand while the other was in a cast and sling. Lloyd rushed over with his cart as he finished the transaction as not to lose him again. He looked up at him with a proud, but dazed smile, his hands on whatever he just purchased. The item was thrust into Lloyd’s arms by Ralph’s good arm. He looked down at them in confusion.
It was flowers. He looked back up at Ralph, raising an eyebrow.
“You’re supposed to get flowers for people you love.” He smiled, proud of his find. Lloyd’s cheeks flushed slightly. This caught him more than a little off guard.
“Thanks?” He said, before clearing his throat awkwardly and taking Ralph’s hand as not to lose him again, placing the bouquet on the top part of the cart. “Now come on, we’re almost done here; we just need a few more things.”
“Okay.”
