So because of the pandemic I decided to take a gap year for the upcoming academic year. Basically whenever, we asked the school what they were planning to do they weren’t able to give an answer and as an international student I’ve to be even more cautious obviously. By the time the deadline was coming for requesting a gap year, they still haven’t announced what they were going to do. (FYI they announced what they plan on recently when they should’ve done it at the start of May) Also at this point I want to talk about how they handled the evacuation on campus too. I am in the Turkish students group chat and most of the students in the dorms learnt they had to leave right before the evacuation date and it was impossible to just get up and leave bc practically all the flights were cancelled. Where were they even supposed to take all their belongings and go? What were international students supposed to do? Now with ICE’s new bs, they post on their official account about how they’re concerned about it, how they’re strictly against it yet they sent a message to their int students on the student portal about how they should make plans to leave if they are not doing the hybrid program that they proposed very recently. Mind you this hybrid program is not suitable for most majors, plus health concerns bc WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. Like all these are not bad enough, they expect students to pay a full tuition for the upcoming year when it’s going to be fully online! So overall this past few months made me realize how little they care about their students and their well being when they’re an overpriced tuition with overpriced living expenses. It really makes me question their ethics and is it even worth it?

Hey there! ☺️ I was wondering (you’ve probably answered this before) if you know what your vocation is yet?

No one has ever asked me outright that question before. They have asked about how my discernment is going and such but no one has asked if I know what my vocation is (at least here on tumblr).

To be quite honest every day is new and different. I want to go visit the Congregation of Norbertines but that means working up the confidence to email them about going on a retreat, seeing if they are even open for a retreat right now (probably nay) and also requesting the time off for it. I’m trying to build my sick leave up for it and I have aaaaaallmost one days worth. That won’t be enough to cover the entire time I plan to try and visit them (ideally I would stay there for an entire week) but it will give me at least one day of pay for while I’m gone.

I also,,,,, don’t know if I could handle that level of romantic loneliness. And there is a lot of other stuff in my life I don’t know if I could give up. But if I’m meant to get married or join a convent eventually, I’ll find out when it’s time. In the mean time I want to explore the options I have within my grasp and finish my theology degree. I might even get my masters before I join a convent.
