"Loki, I got a date tonight!” You told the god excitedly.
You knew Loki wouldn’t like the fact that you had a date but... that’s just how brother’s are. Especially on Midgard. To your surprise he didn’t react with disgust, he did seem surprised though.
“Really? With you?” He asked, setting his book down.
“This really cute guy I go to school with,” You told him, smiling widely. “His name’s Stockton and I’ve been waiting to gather the courage to ask him out myself and he surprisingly asked me at lunch earlier.”
Loki got up and immediately started getting excited for you. You’ve been talking about Stockton for... months. He knew how great of an opportunity this was for you.
“Can I help you get ready? When you get home I want all the details. You got it? Oh! Do you think earrings will look good on you? Of course, everything looks good on you. Word of advice, do not wear rings. Even though you’re still in school he may think-”
“Loki! Stop. I love you bro but... This is only a first date and I’m seventeen. Chill,” You said calmly, at least, it was calm compared to Loki. You ushered him out and got ready in something cute and semi-formal.
Before you left you checked how you looked in the mirror and gave yourself the “OK”.
“Alright Brat, I’m giving you one chance to roast the shit out of me,” You told him after barging into his room. “This is the chance of the lifetime. Don’t fuck it up.”
“Brat?” He asked indignantly. “I’m older than you and if anyone in this family is spoiled it’s Thor,” He said, looking for something to say about your outfit.
“‘Brat’ is Russian for ‘brother’. Did you not hear my pronunciation?” You asked, putting your hands on your hips.
“Alright, alright,” He said, putting his hands up in mock defeat. “You got me.”
“Good.”
“Also, you look nice. Can’t think of anything to ‘roast’ you about,” He said, using air quotes on the word “roast”. “I also don’t want to stomp on your confidence (Y/N). You look beautiful tonight.”
“Aww!” You said, putting a hand to your heart. “Thanks Loki! Love you Brat.”
“Love you too Sestra,” He said, getting up and going in for a hug.
You returned it, grabbed your purse, and headed out the door to the Tower.
-
He didn’t show up. You sat at the restaurant for an hour before being kicked out.
“Ma’am, if you’re not going to buy anything then we’re going to need you you to leave and give the table to a paying customer,” The woman serving you informed.
“Oh, I’m sure he’ll be here in a few minutes. Can I... Can I just get some... some more water and... and free bread?” You asked, trying to keep the tears in. Not even from being stood up, just from embarrassment.
A couple to your right and a family in front of you were both staring at the interaction. You wanted to disappear.
“I’m sorry. My boss said I have to do this,” She said, feigning sympathy.
“Oh... A-Alright. Have a good night then,” You said quietly, getting you things.
And all of a sudden you were at the Tower. The subway rides and short walks seemed to go by quickly. Every possibility going through your head. Maybe he just got busy. Or lost track of time. Or fell asleep?
Each excuse for Stockton got worse and worse, making you feel terrible about yourself.
You went into Loki’s room and feel face first on his bed.
“Hey (Y/N), you’re home at a reasonable hour,” He said dryly. Did he know what happened? You dreaded what might come out of his mouth if you, God forbid, expressed emotions. He’s good with them it just sucks feeling them.
“I guess,” You said, turning onto your back.
“(Y/N), are you okay? You look upset,” Loki asked, peeking over the top of his book.
“Why can’t my life be like Pride and Prejudice?” You asked, pointing to his book. “Why can’t I find a... a Mr. Darcy or... or a Mr. Bingley? Why can’t my life be like Romeo and Juliet? Why can’t I find a Romeo? Loki, why did he stand me up?” You asked, finally letting your stinging tears fall and slowly getting quieter because your throat burned when you tried to keep those tears in.
Loki noticed the anger in your voice, your clenched fists, and your wobbling lip. You could tell that it had mad him angry to see you like this.
“Come on (Y/N). Get changed into something comfortable and meet me in the common area,” He ordered, pulling his blankets off and pulling you up.
“Loki no... I want to stay here and wallow,” You complained when he pulled your arm.
“(Y/N), get up. This is not a request,” He said, trying to keep his voice calm.
He ended up picking you up and taking you to your room. He set you on your bed and pulled out a onesie he got you one year for Christmas. He had gotten it for you so you two could match but you never wore it. He threw it at you and threw a pair of slippers at you as well.
“Ow, Loki, you suck,” You groaned, putting your hand on your head.
“Get changed, I’ll do it too and, again, meet me in the living room,” He ordered again.
You slowly got changed into the onesie and put the matching slippers on, knowing Loki was just trying to be nice. You went to the bathroom to take off your make up and giggled to yourself at how ridiculous you thought you looked in an emerald green dinosaur onesie. That giggle turned into a full on laughing fit.
You exited the bathroom, still slightly giggly, and was met with a Loki in a pastel pink dinosaur onesie, with matching slippers the same as you. The laughs came back at just how stupid you thought Loki looked in a pink dinosaur onesie, making cookies.
“Hello (Y/N), I am partaking in your hobby of baking and I’m going to let you pick the movie tonight,” He said, tossing you the remote to the tv in the living room. You pulled your hood up at the same time he did and you both started laughing again. “I will also... let you... paint my nails.”
“Yes! To all three of those things!” You said happily, walking over to the couch. “But you do know that-”
“Romcoms and fantasy are your favorite movie genres, yes I know and I’ll endure it the same way you endure my period pieces,” He assured you.
“Okay then, what about Enchanted?” You asked, clicking on it anyway in Disney+.
“(Y/N), it’s your choice,” Loki insisted.
“Alright...” You said, pressing play.
After a few minutes you could smell Loki’s cookies baking. Once they were out of the oven he joined you on the couch. You two had snuggled up together and peacefully watched the movie. Loki quietly chuckled when he noticed that you had fallen asleep and still had a cookie in your hand.
He carried you to your room and tucked you in. He smiled at how he had cheered you up and he was proud of himself too.
“Love you Sestra,” He whispered, closing the door behind him.
