dean: looks down at the ground and thinks about what she says, seemingly relating. (he thought sam had died earlier in the episode)

Just something about Sam Winchester having panic attacks when away from Dean (because as a kid it meant his brother might be hurt and dying in a ditch somewhere while he rots at a motel room) and then he goes to Stanford and manages to hide it wel enough from Jess until one night she finds him and the only thing Sam can say is Dean’s name on repeat.

Jess grabs Sam’s phone and dials Dean while putting Sam in the car and driving.

Dean startled once he hears the voice on the other line but gives his address which just so happen to be coincidentally too close to Palo Alto.

Jess understanding she can’t help Sam and just watching barefoot and half dressed stranger leave a crappy motel bedroom to get Sam out of the car and hug him but a little more.

Jess knows from the desperate way Dean checks on Sam and how quickly Sam calms down that Sam was never hers to begin with.
