My attempts to grow a mustache or not to shave during this time of the year always falls flat. I was hoping for Aquaman but I got Confucius...yup, i know...#AsianProblems But in all seriousness, what was interesting is how far I actually got, not by growing my mustache, beard, etc...but how much I got to understand why we do this, through myself, my homies near and far, past and present, old and young, married or single.... I hung out with a few guys last night, opened up and i realized the same common theme with the whole spectrum of the guys I know... I'm no expert in mens health, but from all the guys I've encountered - business, travel, volunteering - from coworkers, closest of guy friends, homeboys...in the past and in the present, old and young. i realized how much more we keep to ourselves. Sometimes it can deal with our path in life, where we are professionally, a death, about a relationship, our family, our own loved ones, etc... Many never speak out because of the fear of getting judged, they dont know how, maybe pride, repercussions, or really, who even cares? We tend to keep things till we hit our very limit - that limit can be tranformative, positively but many times it can be negative... As a guy myself I am not absolved from these... However, to that point, I realized how important camaraderie is amongst men of any age or stage in life... A brotherhood thats built for a purpose, that strives for positivity, that knows to reach out without reservation, that follows the unspoken code of chivalry towards women, men and towards one another...not just a fellowship of any men, but a brotherhood of extraordinary men. Whether its a struggle we face with our health, mental health, relationships or anything life can throw at us, to the men, don't be afraid and lets reach out to one another and continue rising together...
