Back in the summer, i was so enchanted watching brown boobies hunting the flying fish being flushed from the water at the front of the ferry to and from Yakushima.

Kansas City has a visitor: a brown booby!

He's been hanging out for a few days now, looking like he's not quite sure how he got here but enjoying the attention of all the birders coming to see him.

My husband and I went to see him last night and got some great pictures.

This Brown Booby was just rescued down on the deck of the Mel Fisher Treasure Salvage Boat "Dare". The patient is emaciated and dehydrated. Fluids have been administered to begin rehabilitation in our clinic. www.keywestwildlifecenter.org

I saw a brown booby! This is an excuse to post this screenshot:

The image quality is very poor, but there have been a few brown boobys in the area (super rare and just out of reach), and today I got to see them for myself.
