Ი𐑼 Brown aesthetic Ი𐑼
The problem with these types of pins is that they are both generalising despite bollywood being in Mumbai it is mostly dominated by north indians specifically punjabi , most major actors, producers, singers , directors are punjabi .
And this has been going on since the start of bollywood with famous actors like raj kapoor, dev Anand, dillip Kumar and even heroines like madhubala nargis all, belongs to punjab where people typically have lighter skin,
Not saying colourism does not exist in India, it most definitely exists there are not many brown actresses in bollywood, south indian brown beauties do not get representation even in their industry as the directors usually parents a very fair actress with dark skin actors ( not saying there shouldn't be brown actors) but never the other way around, in my regions movies someone dark is always represented as ugly , so india has a lot of work to remove colourism.
The first pin in the bollywood side all these actresses have punjabi kriti sonan is punjabi, Khushi kapoor is punjabi, ananya pandey has a mixed ethnic background but she is punjabi on her mother's side , sara ali khan also has mixed ethnic background and she is also punjabi on her mother's side .
The problem with western media is they are catering to a certain stereotype that all indians are dark and dirty . The actress on the hollywood side all belongs to south india or has south indian ethnicity with the exception of amita suman .
Charitra chandan is tamil , simone ashley is tamil, and avantika is telugu.
Notice the pattern they are all generalising indians into a small little box that they can either be this or that and whenever someone does not fit these box all of a sudden they are not indian anymore , they are either "mixed" or "faking being an indian"
If you ask an indian which one is more pretty and fits the beauty standard of the india they will automatically pick the first one.
When you ask a foreigner which one is indian they will most probably choose the second one or maybe the first one.
But surprise surprise they are all indians .
Forget hollywood not even indians acknowledge north eastern people exist in India , they can't even name two north eastern states other than assam.
We don't even get representation in our own country , .
When I was visiting rajasthan and one of the locals asked me where I was from, one of the uncles travelling with us replied manipur and he legit asked which part of Nepal is that .
And when we try to defend ourselves that we are indians , cases like angel chakma happen..
