yeah so i watched the whole show, both movies, and the first episode of ajlt but i had the media player on one monitor and imdb open on the other and quite literally only watched his episodes 😂 and mostly only his scenes in those episodes bc overall, i can't stand the show. but i was so down bad for mike and then his character in the good wife, peter, that i was like oh hey i remember this being my grandma's favorite show, i should try it. i have regrets, but also not...
i think big as a character, and his relationship with carrie in its many different iterations, is super complicated and nuanced, and im trying not to come at it from a biased perspective. from what i've seen online, big is pretty hated overall, though there are some people who just seem to like him bc he's hot lmao. i think he's a lot more complex than people give him credit for and not this like. one-dimensional asshole who strung carrie along for years.
their first breakup is entirely carrie's fault imo. big was never pretending to be something he wasn't. he specifically told her that he wasn't ready for more or even that emotionally available. but she had this version of him in her head that he was never going to live up to at that point in his life/in their relationship and she was kind of fucking insane. there's this clip of someone dressed up like her and strutting down a street and the caption is like "carrie on her way to stalk big and his mom at church" and it's the funniest, most accurate thing i've ever seen 😂
i really like them in s2 overall bc it's clear that there's a lot of unresolved feelings there, and like. i understand him not bringing up paris right away to an extent, like why make it a whole thing if he's not even sure he's going, but at some point, he should have looped her in before he does in the show. they're two independent adults in a relationship, but you still have to communicate with your partner, especially with something as huge as a move to france lol. she was batshit insane for the french mcdonalds thing though. cringe city. but i understand her hurt and anger and the way things end is bittersweet.
don't even get me started on the natasha thing. that poor woman. big was clearly just trying to get over carrie, which was never gonna happen by jumping into a shotgun marriage. and the whole cheating arc... i am so deeply unsurprised and I'll see people pointing to this as big dragging carrie down but no one made her become the other woman. she chose to be his affair partner over and over again and they're both so incredibly toxic that they're perfect for one another in that way. i hate infidelity storylines and it definitely wasn't fair to aiden (who i didn't see much of but seemed mostly okay if not a mismatch for carrie) or natasha. when it comes to a head with natasha ending up in the hospital after chasing carrie and big expecting them to still be together... sir. the delusion is strong.
BUT s4 is really fun tbh, like i love them as friends? they're cute and there's still always that undercurrent of sexual tension that they're tiptoeing around and idk, i really enjoy it. they're both still idiots about each other but I think they needed this period of non-romance to grow and change, both together and separately.
boo s5 he's only in one episode but this episode is important!! carrie just wants to bone, but big has read her book and it put into perspective where she was coming from and how much he hurt her, however inadvertently. he's growing, maturing, learning! and they still do it at the end!
s6 is inch resting. big isn't in it a ton, but when he is, it's Important. and with his surgery, the vulnerability, the honesty, it's so chef's kiss!!! but he's still so scared to completely put himself out there and carrie has every right to be hurt/frustrated about it. and i personally loooove the scene where she's about to have her last dinner with the girls and he's trying to confess to her and she's just not having it. it makes him realize how much he needs her!! and that he's still fucking up. and him going to the rest of the girls to get their help, it's delicious. we love a desperately in love groveling pathetic man.
and the whole paris bit, KILL ME NOW. the way he looks at her when he finally finds her on the floor of the hotel lobby, i am SHOOKETH 🥹 and the scene on the pont des artes, i WILL be crying even though "kiss me, you big crybaby" makes me want to vomit.
the movies are a whole separate thing of him being an idiot and carrie being an idiot, but they're again so toxically perfect for one another and what can i say, im not immune to a beautiful man just trying to fix what he's done wrong. the second movie is really fucking stupid tbh like carrie, you have been with this man for over a decade, stop trying to change him?? she's just perpetually unhappy/dissatisfied and i don't see his behavior as having done anything to warrant that in this movie. and ajlt breaks my heart and i genuinely feel sick whenever i think about The Scene. i didn't watch anything after the first ep but i read that Carrie said something about wondering if he even really was the love of her life, which i think is just total bullshit trying to retcon things bc of CN's scandal. just bc the actor is a pos doesn't mean we need to rewrite the fucking show like. he was playing a character. idk that pisses me off but i digress.

u know personally i think he should understand that it’s not about him, it’s about his name. bc i would not wanna moan that and i think he should respect my wishes.
i think he has two options and which one he goes with depends on his mood and confidence level. there is a version of him where he is already insecure, already had a bad day, maybe lost a couple patients, made a stupid mistake on a case, and when he tries to get over his shitty ass day where he’s not good enough and you moan someone else’s name? it throws him because is he actually not good enough? are you thinking about someone else while he’s right there? honestly probably kinda fakes an orgasm (which i just learned men can do like yesterday. wild.) because it ruins his mood. but he won’t show that. he will absolutely play it off like he doesn’t care. he will shrug it off when you apologize and just be like “eh shit happens. it’s all good” but it is keeping him up. he is thinking about how u don’t even want him there you don’t even like him he is a fuckup who is worthless and you’re probably preparing to leave his sorry ass anyway-
the other version (the fun hot version) is when he’s actually feeling good about himself and he sees it as like a challenge. you moan someone else’s name and instead of being put off by it he gets curious. asks you to explain in detail (yes while he is still fucking you) who you’re thinking about and what they did that was so good that you’d think about them at a time like this. then it becomes his mission to ruin you. he is burying his face between your legs and not letting go. he is pulling every orgasm he can out of you. he’s not stopping til you’re in tears. that way he can be all smug after and go to sleep knowing it won’t happen again
