The Cornucopia Part 1
All around Panem the districts are seeing this year’s tributes rise up to the frosty arena. All of the tributes are scattered around so there is no particular order.
The camera quickly goes onto Oliver, the boy from district one who had impressed the game makers so much at the opening ceremony; they had decided to reward him with a pair of silver ice skates. He smiles to himself and slings them over his shoulder with a few unwelcomed glares from the other tributes.
As the countdown goes down from 5, 4,3,2,1 and then the gong sounds the tributes run for their lives. Courtney from district three has a slight advantage. Courtney is right in the middle of Kathryn from district one who had scored a five out of twelve and to her other side she had Charissa from district four who had received no points at all. With this, Courtney gave a sick and twisted smile at this apparent advantage. Courtney sees her ally, Dasha from district two and nods toward the fishing holes and then does the same thing to Jamie and Jules, the district nine pair.
Courtney runs to the closet item (blue 4) and tears off the covers. It is a spear but before she has time to make a run for the fishing holes, Charissa pulls Courtney back by her hair. Courtney screams and manages to kick Charissa and free herself. Charissa punches Courtney in the ribs, bruising them slightly causing Courtney some slight pain. Courtney recoils back but has it in her to punch Charissa in her cheek. Courtney picks up the spear and runs off towards the fishing holes.
Samantha was ready to go as she was in between Dallas from district seven and Bruna from district two. Samantha knew that due to Bruna’s standing in the preparations for the games she was not a cause for concern but it was Dallas that she was worried about; after all he did get an eleven in his private training.
Samantha makes a run for the blue parcel (Blue 2) in front of her, only to receive a knockout punch from Bruna, the district two girl. The punch knocks Samantha to the ground and as she is pulling herself up, she sees the district seven boy Dallas snap her neck without any trouble. Dallas did not even notice the blue package when he ran off to his allies. Samantha quickly recovered and grabbed the parcel and as she ran, she peeled the wrapping off to show it to be a sword. Samantha turns back and runs towards the snowy mountains, resting in one of the small caves.
Bruna from district 2 is dead.
The district twelve tribute is next, and Siobhan shows some promise as with record speed she grabs a blue parcel (Blue 3) and runs off towards the fishing holes. When there, Siobhan had unwrapped the parcel and thanks the game makers for the pickaxe that she was lucky to grab. Siobhan hopes that Holly, her ally from District eleven, had seen her signal and meet her here.
Rigel is the tribute boy from district ten and had ran after the blue parcel with the letter three on it. Unfortunately for Rigel, Siobhan had beat him to it seconds earlier. Feeling this loss and not wanting to run into any tributes, Rigel ran and swam straight through to the furthest fishing holes, jogging slowly to try and generate some heat but also to put a bit more distance away from the other tributes at the fishing hole.
Krissi is next of the tributes to capture the cameras attention by quickly running for the red parcel that had caught her attention and was the closest thing to her (red 2) and runs off toward the frozen lake.
Oliver is quickly swimming through the little lake of water that surrounds the cornucopia when he takes a little sip to see the condition. He smiles to himself as the water is fresh and he has now identified a water source but it is unclear if this is the only fresh water.
When he surfaces, Oliver races for the blue bag which had the number four written on it but only to see Courtney run off with it and then Oliver decides to run after her only to stop when he sees that he will be dangerously outnumbered if he would confront her.
Oliver runs for a red parcel (Red 3) and quickly unwraps it to see a thick black jumper. He goes to put it under his coat when Luna, the district six tribute tackles him to the ground. She violently starts punching his face resulting in Oliver getting a black eye and a busted lip. She starts to wrap her hands around his neck when Oliver manages to throw her off of him. Her body hits the ground with a painful thud and the Oliver quickly grabs one of his silver skates and slashes at Luna with vicious swipes. He manages to cut her arms and then her abdomen resulting in crippling consequences for Luna. She tries to make one final strike to Oliver but Oliver raises his skate and then quickly gets her throat. When she falls to the ground, the snow around her turns a deep red.
Luna from district six is dead.
Oliver makes a run for the fishing holes, like many other tributes but he manages to get very close to Rigel, the tribute from district ten.
Dallas is the next and he has caught a fair bit of attention as he had got the one of the highest scores in this year’s games, proving that he is not one to be left out. As all of the tributes run and swim straight into the cornucopia, Dallas jumps from podium to podium as they start cracking beneath his feat. When he has made a fair bit of distance, he dives into the water, swimming at record speed. Dallas quickly gets back onto the surface and sees his ally Dalton from district eight. They run past each other but as they do, they high five each other smiling.
Dallas runs towards the red parcel with a three on it, but see’s a wounded Oliver run away with the package. He turns to see his district partner and ally running towards him but she looks terrified. Nabi, the district eleven tribute running after her. Nabi picks up speed and tackles Toni to the ground. Dallas sprints to his tributes aid and throws a snowball at Nabi’s face. It works as Nabi’s face snaps up, almost growling at Dallas. Toni kicks Nabi in the ribs and then Nabi falls back. Dallas starts to strangle her when Toni comes up and smashes her face in with nothing but her bare fists.
Nabi from district eleven is dead.
