For the memorable writing ask -- this is really stretching back to my fledgling-Skyrim-fanfic-writer-on-FF days, BUT. I basically consider "Indigo Nightingale" and "A Nightingale's Song" canon. Both flesh out characters and backstory (or in Gallus' case, characters that aren't even in the original medium) so realistically and incredibly well, it's hard to imagine any other way those characters or events could be. These fics showed me what really good fic could do, & I'm still in awe of them.
Oh wow, this was a real trip into Nostalgia (tm)! That was... seven or eight years ago now? I was a babey writer and I knew nothing oh god. Every so often I think about those fics and am embarrassed by... the things that you get embarrassed by when you look back at your writing with nearly a decade of experience. There are so many things I would do differently now (and honestly I hope no one is still reading them :’D)
But... I might not be where I am in terms of my writing and fandom life without those fics. They got me used to writing habitually, and they brought me into the TES fandom, where I met people without whom this blog might not exist. So there are a lot of fond memories attached to those fics, and it brought a huge smile to my face to know other people have good memories of them too! Thank you so much :’)
