I can’t say enough about the utmost artistry and care and thoughtfulness that @brunheiffer put into binding my Good Omens poetry collection. Stunning work adapting digital text into a beautiful object with heft and texture.

The visual elements that she added to the poems are perfect.

I didn’t think about the parallel between these poems, but she made the parallel explicit through the visual images.

This layout with the Bentley and bookshop made me emotional.

And ending with the cottage, my heart ♥️

There are pages after pages of this artistry—a deep reading of the poems and a keen sense of how to convey their meanings through book art. I feel like my vision of Good Omens and how important it is to me were *seen* and it makes me emotional.

Thank you so much, @brunheiffer , for this gift. This fandom is amazing.

Lift Me Up, O Lord is a series featuring most of the book/s1 cast (plus some OCs), and the binding includes all three posted installments: the original fic, a weightlifter/runner AU; Prized, an E-rated short vignette; and Objects In Motion, a wedding fic (bring your hanky).

Aziraphale Fell’s maintained a string of weightlifting victories, a strained relationship with his family, and his grandfather’s waistcoat right into his fifties. His personal life is little more than an album of brief and pleasant memories. It’s safer that way. Distance runner Anthony Crowley’s spent the last decade watching his racing career recede in the rearview, but it doesn’t stop him running, literally, away from his feelings. And now he’s fallen, equally literally, from grace. Someone’s about to lift him up.

I always thought it was due to the ease in traveling as a married couple and the fear that the king might manage to put a stop to it.

I thought of that! And it’s certainly a possibility. It just seems odd to me that they go out of their way to to emphasize how she’s a foreign, single woman who’s travelled abroad on her own. She’s doing quite a lot of travelling, if the way the King ransacks her luggage is any indication. I can’t see how marrying Irene would do anything but make Godfrey another target, from their perspective.

My best guess is, either Irene or our helpful narrator want to make Irene so recognizably virtuous (which means socially acceptable) it stands in stark contrast to the King. But this is something that needs to be constructed. She’s morally fine in my book, even exemplary, but she’s not conventional or socially acceptable (see how she goes out in men’s clothes even after her marriage). For her goodness to shine through, she has to do a bit of play-acting.

(Chalk up queer-ish readings of Irene Adler to one of those topics I really must delve into one of these days....)
