Leave the Door Open Lyrical Analysis
I've been listening to this song non-stop yesterday (FOR THE NTH TIME BECAUSE IT'S JUST SO GOOD) and it lead me to another one of my many analysis. We're not gonna go into specifics over how much of a masterpiece the chord progression and the overall musicality of the song is. Rather, I want to focus on the lyrics.
Let's be real here, the song heavily implies inviting someone over and possibly having sex with them. But it's actually MUCH MORE than just sex. Let's get into it (this analysis won't take too long btw).
Okay so the lyrics portray the lavish and expensive life which—since Bruno Mars is one half of Silk Sonic we should really mention this—was being built up in past Bruno Mars lyrics. From dreaming of becoming a billionaire to 24K magic in the air. That was a nice callback to older Bruno Mars songs that are still so timeless to this day.
Solely focusing on Leave the Door Open while, as mentioned, it heavily implies making love it also tells the message of a man being very genuine over his feelings for a girl. The recurring lyrics "I ain't playing no games every word that I say is coming straight from the heart" is the speaker assuring the woman he loves that he is serious about her and the titular lyrics "leave the door open" is him saying that even if she's not ready to love him, he won't ever close the door on her. The speaker also longingly says that he is "hoping that you feel the way I feel" which I think is beautiful. The pining and the assurance is so evident and it warms my heart to see such a message of a man genuinely loving a woman and willing to wait for her to be ready to love him. There is excellent storytelling conveyed through its lyrics and it's exactly what makes not only the song musically phenomenal, but lyrically phenomenal as well.
FIGHT ME. THIS IS THE BEST SONG OF 2021 (okay we can wait a bit for Adele because maybe she has a contender). ANDERSON AND BRUNO DID SUCH AN AMAZING JOB.

Perfection :D
When the kids try to rush out of my classroom without cleaning it up first.
If you don't reply to me saying "i'm to hot" with "hot damn - call powlice and the fireman" I'm sorry we can't be friends...
All of Bruno Mars' songs sound like they got ripped off from someone
that moment when the half time show is over and youre like 'oh right, football.'
