June 13, 2026 - Black-fronted Brushfinch (Atlapetes nigrifrons) Found only in the Perijá Mountains in Venezuela and Colombia, these brushfinches live in bushy areas around forests, roadside thickets, and cultivated areas. The details of their diet are unknown but they are thought to eat insects and seeds, foraging in small groups and sometimes following mixed-species flocks. Very little is known about their breeding behavior though birds in breeding condition have been found from January to June and juveniles were seen in August.

They are actually in the New World Sparrow family, and are not true finches.
