DO I??? BOY I LOVEEEEEEE COMBINERS.... the very concept of them is so fascinating to me and the lore leaves a lot of parts about mechanism of combination vague. how strong is the gestalt bond? just how mentally fused are they? how does it effect their psyche?
disorganised ramble below
in IDW, combiners have a separate consciousness. its not a combination of each component mech's sentience into one being, the combiner itself had a mind of its own. it keeps varying from continuity to continuity. i personally like the one where the combined form's consciousness is basically a mix of all component mechs so i'm going with that here.
check this post out here for more. i'm probably gonna reiterate points from that post on here.
since this is an x reader blog, obviously i'm gonna rant abt the x reader potential of combiners
one single bot in a combiner team falls in love and all of em suffering. 'crush-mind virus' is the very real and technical term used to explain it. a bot is in love with you, they combine and as an effect of combination, their emotions are shared and that affection towards you is included.
it leaves open to many funny scenarios too. like you have this harem pining after you and depending on how dysfunctional they are, they're either at each other's throats or working together to charm you up.
but since its a group of mechs, there's no way in hell the first thing you're gonna think is "oh, they're all in love with me". you probably think they're being friendly. normal bots don't go as a team to try and rizz someone up...
in their combined state though, you're probably in danger. esp when its decepticon combiners because oh, boy... they are a mess... its like the messiest polycule ever, more like harem though. cause they all want you.
ALSOOOOO another fun little yandere thing is that i believe their way of keeping their darling bound to them would be trying to extend gestalt bond to you.
yes, you. they'd probably try to include you in their combined state. that way, you're literally bound to them in a way that's far stronger than any sparkbond because when you guys combine, they can feel everything you feel. every ache in your spark, the joy you feel, your sorrows, your everything. there won't be a single thing their darling can hide from them now! you're screwed. and the best part of it all is that you can feel their overwhelming devotion and love for your first hand, the sheer scale of obsession they have over you without them having to say a word. its so much more intimate than any other act conceivable if you think about it because you guys are literally forming a single entity by sharing your body and mind, peering into each other's very sparks in the process.
they typically don't think of their gestalt bond in such a way and see it more as a tool to obliterate the enemy. they've only thought about how big and strong they are when combined. but when the topic of binding you to them gets brought up amongst them... it's such a delicious offer. they get to see their sweetspark from the inside, they get to learn more about their mind... how could they pass that up?
but its not easy to achieve cause they'll need to modify your frame and for that, they'll need someone like Shockwave or Bombshell. and they'll also need to make some kind of emotional bond with you because if you hate them and they combine, it might drive their combined state into a frenzy. kinda like how menasor is so batshit insane cause the stunticons are super dysfunctional. they need your co-operation, they need to butter you up and make you fall for them. but i believe some of the more dysfunctional and batshit insane combiner teams wouldn't care and might even force you into a gestalt bond with them :3
Devastator so far is my favourite. he's got more screen time so obviously he's got more personality development. plus, i think the construticons are sooooooo cute. esp in IDW. the combiner wars arc was fun

Warnings ── N/A
Bruticus
✦ ── Surprisingly, one of the more nonchalant combiners when not under direct threat. Bruticus is best when combined, as opposed to just the sum of his parts.
✦ ── The only thing he lacks is the gentle parts. The kindness and the steady movements having such a small partner demands. He makes up for it with his sheer desire to prove he can take care of you just as well as his lone components.
✦ ── Not knowing where you are is an easy fix. At least one of his components is an inovator, and now you've always got a bell tied to some part of you. If you try to take it off, it will end up permanently affixed to you.
✦ ── While he may be military smart, Bruticus isn't the brightest bulb. He gets confused easily when you talk to him about anything non-war-related. Cocks his head to the side and gives you that uncertain stare. It's the cutest he'll ever look.
✦ ── Brings you to fights just to put you somewhere safe so you can watch him beat the shit out of the enemies. You might even catch Bruticus glancing back at your spot to make sure you're still watching him.
Defensor
✦ ── The gentlest of all combiners without having to put too much work into it, Defensor is well aware of your fragility and aims to protect you in any way he can. Unfortunately, this means he is the least willing to handle you.
✦ ── Holding you during a fight is out of the question. It isn't so much him he is worried about. It's whatever might be done to him. But when times are calm, he'll grab a blanket and scoop you up with it. Something soft he doesn't have to worry about pinching too tight that holds you gently for him.
✦ ── Being around you is always a moment of self-discovery for the components, who are still getting to know one another. What Defensor does know is that he loves you, as confusing as the urges to both nuzzle his cheek against you or act nonchalant are.
✦ ── A bit embarrassed about his verbal tic, how he doesn't exactly speak to you how his components and others might. Likes when you talk to him, instead. He'll rumble and whirr in response to let you know he's listening.
✦ ── Reassure him, please. He acts all capable and confident, of course. But something in him melts when you urge him to speak, when you compliment his abilities, when you say you love *him* and not just his components.
Devastator
✦ ── Honestly so sweet. He may be destructive, but his components make things. They use their servos and are gentle when needed. So he must be able to as well, right?
✦ ── More hesitant to hold you. Would rather have you somewhere high up where he can sit near you and watch what you're doing. At most, he'll reach a digit out to poke you when you aren't paying enough attention to him.
✦ ── It's difficult to ignore him, though. He has what looks like a permanent pout on his face, and he'd look adorable if he weren't so dangerous. His engines also rumble real loud when he's near you. You're not sure he's noticed.
✦ ── Why are his servos shaking? You're imagining things, sweetspark. Ignore that it's literally jostling you. He isn't nervous about handling you the first time...the first few times...every time. Not at all.
✦ ── It's clear when the big guy has lost track of you because he will completely freeze up. Too scared if he moves a single joint, you might get crushed, or if he steps back, his pede will hit you. That's the only time you see him patient, waiting to hear from you so he knows it's okay to move.
Menasor
✦ ── Extremely intimidating without trying, and it works to his advantage with you. You should be at least a bit scared of him, because that's how he knows you'll be careful around him.
✦ ── Not too scared, though. Enjoys startling you, seeing you jump when he slams a hand near you or growls a little too loudly. But he still desires your love as much as his components. Look at him, talk to him, trust him. He will fight for you.
✦ ── Struggles with words, a lot. He'd be embarrassed if he cared, but it never occurred to him until his components fell for you that he might want to use words. To talk, rather than lash out. Now he hates it.
✦ ── The most rough out of any combiner when handling you, but to Menasor, he's treating you like the most fragile thing in the entire universe. He's running out of patience, but he won't let himself snap when it comes to you. You'll get some bruises, but nothing more.
✦ ── Prefers your company directly as opposed to just with his components, which is why he hates that he mostly comes out for battles. He can't hold you while he's fighting. At least the anger from missing you and his desire to get things over with propel him towards victory.
Superion
✦ ── Total show-off. So many components in him are vying for your attention, and so long as you're looking at him, they've all got it. A lot more humble with his smack talk when you're around, because why talk when he can show?
✦ ── Not as worried as a group of bots should be about hurting you. That's mostly because Superion plans for things. He knows he won't hurt you because he is fully capable of being careful. You are capable, too. You'll let him know if he needs to be gentler.
✦ ── But...perhaps...not that he would ever ADMIT IT. He is terrified of getting lost in his own ego and hurting you because of it. There is always some level of caution behind what he does, evident in how he hesitates before moving when you're with him.
✦ ── He isn't sure why you seem so amused when he talks, but you seem to find his wording funny, and that's good enough for him. Something about dry humour, though you're not sure if it's intentional or not.
✦ ── Superion enjoys spending time with you and will display his displeasure when he doesn't see you for long periods of time. It doesn't seem like being around his components counts. HE wants to talk to you.
Author's Note ── Ignore that 2/3 of the art for Bruticus is actually from Skybound. It isn't my fault that IDW has so few appearances of Bruticus...and Skybound's covers of him are literally perfect.
A small gift for @the-body-of-water, who mentioned liking combiners and I think the combined forms deserve some extra love <3 You only mentioned the Constructicons and Aerialbots, but I hope my additions were acceptable,,,
Synopsis: Defensor and Bruticus love rivalry with their favorite human! Oh but how do the other bots feel about it?..
Note: Experimenting to see if I enjoy the blue/green colors more than green/orange… hmm
TW/CW: Minors do not interact. Gender neutral human reader, suitable for afab and amab readers, mentions of violence and potential kidnapping but there is absolutely no noncon or anything of that nature! Consensual game of cat and mouse. Both flustered and confident reader! Both rowdy and calm reader too. OOC warning! Bruticus is nice to reader as are the other Combaticons (no toxic relationships for this post ya’ll)
Characters: Defensor and Bruticus!
Protectobots: Hot Spot, First Aid, Blades, Groove, Rook, and Streetwise! Combaticons: Onslaught, Blast Off, Vortex, Brawl, and Swindle!
——————————————————————————————————————
What started as a genuine battle for your safety, both combiners firmly believing they were the better option for you to stay with, has now turned into a game of cat and mouse. One week the Combaticons steal you away, and the next the Protectobots come take you right back. It’s all fun and games until they bring out the big guys, their gestalts, both of which have become horribly, hopelessly in love with little ole you; a human.
Thing is, they honestly were going to blow each other’s sparks clean out of their chambers at first. However, having somehow found yourself at home with both teams, and both seeing and very much feeling the affection their combiners had for you, there has become somewhat of an unspoken rule between the rivaling teams. No fighting to the death while you’re around- to avoid you getting hurt- and they get to steal you away from the opposing team periodically. It’s so the big guy gets his time with you, t-that’s all! Totally not because they’ve all become attached..
Every time you find yourself getting comfortable at the Combaticons base.. The Protectobots, more specifically Defensor, steal you back again.
I mean come on, they’re the *Combat*icons, it’s literally in the name! How could they trust your safety to *them* of all Decepticons? They could hurt you! What if Swindle caught wind of those grubby bots who pay a high price for a cute human pet? Absolutely not!
But how could the Combaticons put their faith in a bunch of up tight Autobots either? And put you in danger to be some other Decepticon or Autobots next meal? I mean come on, the Protectobots can’t even keep Blades in order and you expect the Cons to just trust them “cause they’re Autobots”?? Not gonna happen. You’re safe at Combaticons HQ and that’s final.
As much as both sides hate sharing, you seem to enjoy this back and forth. Their very own adorable, troublemaker human gets a sick kick out of them fighting over you. Like to make them sweat it seems. How they ended up in such a situation, none of them know. But they’ll be damned if something bad happens to you.
Oddly enough, there is some solace in knowing exactly who has taken you from them. They know where you are, and that you’ll be safe at the very least. As much as both sides should be more angry, they can’t help but be a little glad to have found such an outlet for all the stress of the war. You never exactly return injured either, so that helps.
Part of sharing means dealing with the opposing combiners scent all over you upon your return, and Bruticus absolutely hates that. Can’t stand the idea of those pesky Autobots or that tin can Defensor cuddling up to you, stealing your warmth. Despite his violent nature, he’s gentle with you. Tries to be anyway. Especially when smushing his faceplate against your form as you’re sat in his servos, rubbing his scent on you not entirely unlike a big metal cat. Gentle as he may try to be, he’s still massive, so it takes some getting used to- said metal isn’t exactly soft. Got pinched more than once by his plating. Yeesh. He seems to enjoy it when you taunt him about Defensors scent all over you though, even if you personally can’t tell at all. Knowing he’ll just snatch you up and replace it with his makes it too fun not to. Tease him too much and he might just give in to his component Vortex’s desires to bite you.
And bite you he has. Although, one of the many things he adores about you is your lack of fear towards him and his Cons. He’s massive, so are they, and yet you still sass them and put them in their place? That’s hot. You threaten to smack him cause he pissed you off? Do it. He’s not even hiding how much he wants that. Is that his Vortex component again? Could be Brawl, he doesn’t care.
As sweet to you as he is, Bruticus still likes to watch you squirm. He’s certainly not above licking you, glossa swiping from your thigh to cheek, just to see you huff in frustration. Complaining and growling at him. Likes you happy of course, but he likes you mad too.
He enjoys flustering you if he can, although he struggles to know exactly what to do. Not like he’s super experienced with this, ya know? It’s not as simple as breaking stuff and punching bots. Every time you have a cute reaction to his flirting attempts, he has to manually silence his Swindle component, who seems to think you’re too precious not to make a profit with. Immediately filling him with a greed that could rival the Bible, but he’s more interested in your attention than shanix.
One thing Bruticus doesn’t really understand are the silly nicknames you give him and the cons, but he still enjoys them. Can feel a part of his spark practically melt when you call him yours. Can get pretty possessive after that though.. In fact, they all do. Sorry, but it seems you’re gonna have to call in to work tomorrow..
Your rowdy nature coupled with your crude humor were also major selling points for him. You mean you can joke around with his Cons and keep up with their energy? How much energy do humans have?? Don’t care, that’s dope. Blast-Off has more than once been left a sputtering mess of metal and wires after receiving one of your witty retorts or flirty passes.
As if they needed more reasons to want you all for themselves, you’ve won over the big guy with your lack of judgment towards his mental fortitude. Bruticus is a bit dimwitted, to say the least, but you never treat him as such. He’s not just a mindless killing machine to you, even if he does enjoy it anyhow. Showering him in compliments and praise, like his own person and not just a gestalt. Others treat his components like people, but not him. It’s a surprising but not unwelcome change of pace.
At the same time, he appreciates how you care about each part of him. Literally. His components. You put up with their antics and seem to have fun doing so. The Combaticons are more than well aware their personal affections for you have played a role in only amplifying his. How could they not though? Yeah they’re super difficult, and more importantly dangerous, but you stick around. Even if they do have to keep planning elaborate escapes to get you back from the Bots. Not that Onslaught minds creating new tactics, of course.
But sometimes those tactics fall through, allowing Defensor to come crash the party and “save” you. Much to the Protectobots surprise as mentioned before, you never return to them injured. Always slightly on edge due to the level of violence they’ve experienced from the cons. Don’t really want to think about what it means for you to be so heavily favored, desired even, by such a group of bad bots, so they shove their worries under the rug for now.
They should probably be far more worried than they are, but it’s hard to stay that way when you immediately relax into Defensors servo- wait, are you napping?? You’re not even back at base yet!
None of them can really get enough of you relaxing into their touch like that, or nuzzling your cheek against Defensors faceplate. If he could turn bluer, he would. His components though? Oh they certainly do. Blushing like crazy, minus Hot Spot whose face remains unseen, every time you give them affection. It makes you laugh how simple they can be at times. Century old legendary warriors getting flustered by a human? Ha! Why wouldn’t you tease them a little?
Defensor is especially partial to your laugh and smiling face. He likes to be the cause, but will except it being one of his parts instead. Just not that piece of scrap, Bruticus. You never fail to include him, always mentioning him as part of the team. He’s not just their gestalt, he’s a full member with his own autonomy. The big bot really struggles to feel that way for a while, even causing him to slip up in battle a few times. But your praise and encouragement get him back in the game, reminding him of his place in your heart and on the team.
Although it is a bit stressful to have to nab you back from the Cons, it’s nice to just- not have to fight all the time. Gives them something else to do. Again, they never quite feel comfortable with this arrangement or your safety being in their rivals hands. Defensors First Aid component always fretting and checking you over in his servos the second he can. The medic worries about your health in this situation, what if you become too stressed out? That’s horrible for humans! How would he even fix that? Can’t exactly just waltz into the Combaticons base and demand they stop. He’s not super keen on getting tackled by Brawl immediately either.
It’s hard for Defensor to balance out his worry for you with his desire to kick that rust bucket Bruticus’ aft though, and everyone blames his Blades side for that. Ever the feisty one, isn’t he? The helicopter is always pulling Defensor to be less forward with his affections for you, ever the withdrawn, brooding bad boy of the group. Groove is probably having one hell of a time fighting Blades on that one, desperate to drink in every second of your affection.
Defensor is pretty glad to have someone like Groove around, and Streetwise too. Those two allow him to, sometimes at least, flirt with you in a reasonable way. Ya know, for a several million year old bot who’s intensely trying to understand human courting rituals. He wouldn’t be near as suave without them guiding him. Although suave is.. one way to put it. He’ll keep at it though. You’re just so cute when you get flustered or feel confident because of his comments. As you should, you deserve it! They simply adore any reaction you have.
You make Defensor, and frankly all the Bots, feel like they belong on Earth, with humans. The very thing he’s come to love so much. Thinks of himself as one of you, he’s a bit slow on the uptake that he isn’t quite the same. Knows he’s different but the nature of combiners means he struggles with.. well, thinking. Regardless, you’re always so sweet to him. Patient and understanding, you explain your own culture and listen to theirs. His normally fearless Rook component even melts at your kind nature. And why wouldn’t he? Why wouldn’t any of them?
Suppose it can’t be helped. Someone like you is bound to win over the sparks of any bot they meet. As such, both teams will just have to keep taking you back until one side concedes. Ooorr maybe they’ll keep it up for fun. For you. Who knows what this weird situation holds, hm?

Note: Combiners man.. these damn combiners… hnng-
Anyway, felt like this one ended abruptly, but oh well. I’m not necessarily unhappy with it, just an observation:p
synopsis: you, a lone neutral in the middle of war, suddenly find an unconscious combiner on your doorstep.
a/n: guess who my fav combiner is (◠‿◕) also mistakes are everywhere 'round here,, that's a warning
— 🪫
Being a neutral in Cybertronian war, even if it may seem mundane, is not something to be taken lightly—knowing that you have no guaranteed protection, every mech for themselves, and energon nowhere near a silver platter.
At least, that's how it is for you. Not only are you a neutral, but you also travel alone, avoiding companionship from even fellow neutrals.
— Your cycle had been going smoothly. Supplies traded, objectives met, everything functioning with ease.
That is, until you returned to homebase, and out of nowhere—a gigantic, collapsed combiner sprawled in front of the entrance. Lamely blocking your path. Face-first on the ground too.
Narrowing your optics at the strange sight, your guard rises higher and higher. You listen to the low purrs of their engines, faint enough to be dormant. There is nothing else in your surroundings to be heard but the distant hum of the fallen Iacon. Then it should be safe, you suppose? No other hidden sparks?
You can't see their symbol—but slag, Primus knows you don't give a flying klik on which fraction they came from. Autobot, Decepticon, all the same to you at this point. This isn't a neutral either; there are deep scratches and burns on their frame, the telltale signs of war.
Which is why you completely avoided the sleeping combiner, fast-walking around its frame until you reached your front door.
They will have someone coming for them soon enough. A combiner isn't something to lose so easily.
You look around your base for good measure, deeming it satisfactory in the disguise department. It blends with the structures around it—half-destroyed thanks to the combiner. Whatever. Good enough. No one should suspect a thing. Sure, you do have other bases, but it would be so annoying if they spot you—maybe it'd even the end of your spark.
...
There's a low rumble. Quickly, you turn around, powering up your weapon—
You tense at the combiner's large, red optics. His head now turned, a relentless gaze boring into you.
For a few kliks, he only stares unblinkingly, almost making you believe he’s malfunctioning.
"Don't... hurt Bruticus," he says suddenly, a raspy voice deep and slow, like it's taking everything in him to speak.
Gritting your denta, you shut the entrance close on him. Well, then, you have to start packing this base up. Not safe anymore.
Either way, they should be gone tomorrow.
— 💤
Bruticus is, in fact, not gone.
A cycle has already passed. You opened the door with all hope that he's been retrieved—but no. He's still lying there, head in the same position as when he startled you, optics presently offline. Must still be in recharge.
You bite back an irritated scream; this is nothing but a sign of trouble. Bruticus is clearly in pain, though, so something must be severely damaged to the mechs that make him up themselves. Maybe—you don't really know much about combiners.
Still, you can't afford scrap about whatever happened to them. You step around the frame again and go forward on your cycle—to gather some moving crates.
It’s a quick trip, but maybe he'll be gone once you come back.
— 📦
He's still here.
Stepping around him again, at this point, there's no point in bothering anymore. While your sensors show no one else nearby, that could change in an instant. You have to abandon this base, the sense of urgency skyrocketing in your processor.
Except you slowly take a moment to look back.
His optics are online. You jolt from surprise, your crates fumbling in your arms, suddenly feeling very exposed under his stare.
"You—"
"...Where is Bruticus?"
You pause. The question catches you off-guard. "What?"
"Bruticus can't... move," he says, followed by a long groan escaping his engine.
"I'm sure someone will come find you," you murmur, ignoring the guilt bubbling in your spark.
"I am abandoned," he grunts. "Exiled."
...
... Frag.
You drop everything and walk inside your base.
Then, you come back out, medical supplies in your servos.
— 🪫
(cut-off) bonus:
You were saving these for yourself but nevermind then. Looking up, he's still staring at you with those big old eyes. Slag it.
Slowly, you begin to take steps forward.
The conbiner vents a heavy sigh. "Go away. Bruticus don't want you here—!"
"Relax, big bot," you say calmly, holding up one free servo. "I'm here to help. I won't hurt you. This is a medkit, see?"
— it's short because i KNOW the mistakes and i dont want to expand on it rip
— L moment of me its so skill issue im sorry bruticus i love you
Hello! I was reading some of your transformers x reader and i enjoyed them way too much, i wondering if i could please request some poly combaticons x reader fluffiness??

Swindle vented air loudly through his systems, sighing boredly. Just like the other Combaticons, he was tired of being left behind on missions. It was almost like Megatron didn’t trust them, which was crazy, because it was he who had ordered their rescue from imprisonment, right? At least, that’s what he had told them on Cybertron after he had reprogrammed them to only follow his orders; none of the Combaticons would ever know any different.
“Where’s Vortex?” He asked, hoping that the insane bot might be good for a laugh.
“Probably off causing trouble,” Blast Off replied, checking himself out in the shiniest part of the chrome wall.
Onslaught hummed, making some notes after examining a slide under the microscope, “As long as I have some peace to finish my experiments for Lord Megatron, does it really matter where Vortex is?”
“GUYS, GUYS,” Vortex called out excitedly, running in. “YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED!”
Onslaught cursed his luck, knowing he would never finish his project with Vortex yelling like that.
“WHAT IS IT?!” Brawl roared huffily, eager to pick a fight with just about anyone that happened to be nearby, if it would distract him from his boredom.
“ORDERS FROM MEGATRON. GOOD ONES. REALLY, REALLY GOOD ONES. ALMOST AS GOOD AS BEING ATTACKED.”
None of them really understood why Vortex loved surprise attacks so much, but they at least understood his frame of reference for excitement.
“Megatron’s back?” Onslaught asked, thinking of his unfinished project.
“NO, BUT HE SENT LASERBEAK BACK WITH SOME ORDERS.”
“What’ve you got for us?” Swindle asked, already coming up with a scam that would make the others do his work for him if he didn’t like the job.
“There’s a human hostage in the holding cells. Megatron said we must not let the Autobots take it back at any cost.”
“A human?” Blast Off actually managed to look away from his reflection for a while. “That could be interesting, I suppose.”
“UGH!” Brawl exclaimed exasperatedly. “WHAT GOOD IS A HOSTAGE THAT YOU CAN’T FIGHT. I WANT A REALLY GOOD SCRAP.”
“Come on,” Onslaught said, leading the way to the holding cells; at the very least, he might get some interesting research done on human physiology and behaviour. At Onslaught’s word, they all headed down to see the prisoner, hoping to alleviate some boredom, if nothing else.
None of them knew what to expect since you were the first human they had seen outside of TV. As such, once they all got to the door, it was decided they shouldn’t alert you to their presence until they were sure of how best to guard you; that decision greatly annoyed Brawl who never hid from anything.
“Wow…” Blast Off whispered, “(S)he looks so…sad.”
The five bots fell silent, frowning as they each thought about their millions of years imprisoned with no hope of escape; it was torturous. No doubt, you were also suffering with nobody to talk to and no stimulus to keep you entertained. At least when the Combaticons were bored, they had each other to talk to; this just seemed cruel. Even Brawl was uncharacteristically quiet, thinking about the painful years of solitude in which nobody even spared him a thought.
Vortex stayed as quiet as he could for as long as he could, totalling a record time of two minutes and ten seconds of silence. After that, he bounced on into the room, “Hey human, how are you? Are you bored? I bet you’re bored; I would be bored in there.”
Onslaught and Blast Off face-palmed, while Swindle watched snickering, and Brawl rolled his optics at his team-mate’s stupidity.
You stood up upon seeing the Decepticon enter the room. He was one you had never seen before on any of your missions with the Autobots and you wondered what his personality was like compared to the other Decepticons.
“Hello,” You greeted openly.
“Hey,” Vortex beamed, surprised you weren’t like the other humans the Decepticons had discussed in front of the Combaticons; he had only ever heard Starscream saying how they were frightened of everything, including their own shadows.
“Are you new?” You asked, your curiosity outweighing your sense of danger as it always did. “I’ve never seen you before.”
“Me, new? That’s crazy,” Vortex guffawed. “I’m super old. You’re the new one.”
You chuckled, “Yes, I guess I am.”
“GUYS, GET IN HERE, IT’S FRIENDLY, AND FUNNY TOO.”
You watched the door as three other bots sheepishly made their way in, the fourth stomped in grumpily, making sure to make a lot of noise.
“Oh, are these your friends?”
It was Onslaught who answered, “We’re his team.”
“Yeah,” Blast Off laughed, “I’m the handsome one.”
You smiled, noticing they weren’t like the other Decepticons; at least these five talked to you. “And do you have a name or am I stuck calling you handsome?”
“I’m Blast Off, our fearless leader here is called Onslaught. This glitch-head is Vortex,” Vortex pointed to himself proudly, despite the insult. “This is-”
“I’m Swindle,” The bot replied, winking at you. “You need something, you come to me first. I can talk my way outta anything and everything.”
“And last but not least is Brawl.”
“AND I’M OUTTA HERE,” Brawl huffed, still wanting something to fight.
“Ah,” You smiled knowingly.
“WHAT’S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?” Brawl demanded, hitting the bars of your cage.
“Hey, I meant nothing bad by it. I could just tell by your cool attitude that you’re the strong one of the group. Man, I bet you could take anyone in a fight.”
“Heh,” Brawl guffawed bashfully. “If you think I look strong now, you should see my alt-mode.” With that he transformed into a tank, showing off his bulk and strength by blasting a hole in the ceiling.
You couldn’t help but smiling at the display Brawl put on just for you. Soon enough, all the Combaticons were competing for your attention, turning into their various alt-modes and asking whose was best. Even the level-headed Onslaught couldn’t help admiring your tactful answers as you said what you liked best about each member of his unit, including himself.
There was no doubt that the five would have stayed and talked your ears off forever, had you not eventually fallen asleep. Watching you slumber so peacefully, sure they had put the smile on your face, each of the Combaticons felt joy warm their cores. In just one day you had become so precious to them and all because you listened to them more than any other Cybertronian ever had.
“Let us all admit that we are feeling the same thing for this organic,” Onslaught whispered, resting his helm against the bars of your cage.
The other bots murmured in agreement.
“Then let’s bust her out,” Brawl growled. “We have more than enough firepower to do it.”
“Yeah,” Blast Off agreed, “And nobody could look as good doing it as we could.”
Vortex started shaking excitedly, “Oooh, I sense a prison break coming on, just like the human movie, Impossible Mission.”
“It was Mission Impossible, you dolt.”
Onslaught sighed, “You’re forgetting that we’ve got direct orders from Megatron to make sure (s)he doesn’t escape.”
“Do we though?” Swindle asked mischievously. “As far as I’m aware, our orders were to ‘make sure the Autobots don’t take her at any cost.’ I don’t see any Autobots here, do you?”
Onslaught considered that momentarily; Swindle really could find a loophole in anything. “Well…as long as we are all in agreement.”
As if in response, the team started their combined transformation into Bruticus, leaving room for Onslaught to join in. He did so happily, feeling the freedom and power that came with combining.
“Bruticus rescue (Y/N),” The now giant bot said monosyllabically. “(Y/N) belongs to Bruticus now.”
You had long since gotten over the shock of being kidnapped for the second time that day; it helped that your new-found captor was actually the five Combaticons you had met earlier that night. All the same, you weren’t sure what was going to happen next and it seemed that Bruticus didn’t either.
“So,” You wondered how to broach your next question, “Where do we go from here?”
Bruticus shrugged his shoulders, then lowered his servo to let you down onto the beach shore. “Bruticus don’t know. What human want to do?”
“I- Hmm… I’d like to thank you for the heroic rescue.”
Bruticus’ fans started blasting in what you had come to know as a Cybertronian blush.
“And I would like to invite you to come and visit me in my home whenever you want… even though we’re really far away from it right now.”
“Not far for Bruticus. I can take you home right now.”
“Really?” You half laughed. “You would do that for me?”
“Yes, Bruticus like new friend.”
You weren’t sure how to react to that. To be perfectly honest, you were wondering exactly what you had said or done to make the Combaticons like you so quickly. If you could make the other Decepticons like you just as much then maybe you could make life a lot easier for the Autobots in the process. Either way, you were glad you weren’t a hostage anymore, though you still had no idea quite how enamoured the Combaticons had become with you in just one night. Humans had a word for how the Combaticons felt about you; they were smitten.
