Day 10
Want to become “enlightened?” Here’s what worked for me: My friend Bryan Cain (www.bryancain.net) explained the overwhelming odds that we’re not going to die, on any given day. I’d never really thought of it like that before. But he’s right: it’s incredibly unlikely, statistically, that we’re going to die today. Or tomorrow. In fact, the odds are we’re going to live to a fairly old age. Once I accepted I was probably going to survive a while, I’ve been more able to settle in and take each day, and each moment, one at a time. It’s nothing historic. I’m just being more present. And it’s been wonderful. My life right now is like Bill Murray in Groundhog’s Day, but AFTER he decides to just keep learning new stuff and live his life as well as he can. That’s literally what it feels like.
