Chuuya's reaction to Dazai getting hurt during the Lovecraft fight has always been so interesting to me...
Because it's the kind of worry you'd never expect from a character as gruff as Chuuya, who had displayed nothing but hostility towards Dazai so far. Usually, characters that are labelled as "angry" or "anger issues" (which Chuuya is much more complex than that but you get my point) act more as a tsundere type of way when the one they "don't care about" gets hurt. And show their care in very, very subtle ways (ex. their eyes widen, their mouth parts and closes again, etc) before putting up their front once more.
Chuuya, however, is open, and vocal about it. His worry is clear not only to us, but to Dazai himself, the one he shouldn't be displaying the concern to (as per the cliche). Shouldn't it be some sort of secret that Chuuya does care? Isn't that what skk's dynamic has been shaping up to be until now?
I'm telling you- the way my mind blanked when Chuuya just casually.... showed concern not once, but twice, was a sight to see.
Besides, the context makes it much more confusing, because Dazai isn't some rookie, and Chuuya knows that more than anybody. He was the youngest executive in Port Mafia's history, of course he can handle a hit or two. Of course he'd seen him handle a hit or two, sometimes without batting an eye.
Heck, Chuuya himself was hurling Dazai like a ragdoll in their reunion, which was their last meeting. And you could argue that he was going easy on him, but Dazai has mostly withstood the same damage (as far as I could see), and Chuuya was as bitter as ever.
So that kind of contradicts both what we knew of Chuuya so far, and how their dynamic was shaped to be. I mean, that just makes Chuuya a hypocrite, yeah? What makes him care now, all of a sudden? What makes him care at all?
Well, to me, this backasswards reaction implies one (or more) of the following:
- Dazai rarely got physically hurt during their partnership and thus this is an unexpected thing for him to see (during a mission).
- The four years of separation made Chuuya unsure of how much Dazai can withstand physically now. Also the fact that he isn't in the mafia anymore, aka fighting enemy organizations on the weekly, would naturally make Dazai lose his touch in a way, what prompts Chuuya's reaction.
- Dazai getting taken off guard took him off guard which led to panic. Especially since the situation was (momentarily) out of their depth. Seriously wtf even was Lovecraft?
- During the dungeon scene Dazai was an enemy, while in the Lovecraft fight he was as an ally. The difference might be significant to Chuuya.
- This has always been Chuuya's reaction to Dazai getting hurt regardless of the situation.
- "Only I can hurt him like that" ahh logic
- Asagiri was still experimenting with their dynamic and thus there are some inconsistencies.
This scenario didn't play out again (after their reunion) for me to exactly determine which one is more plausible, but it is 100% canon for Chuuya to shamelessly show his concern and run to Dazai to check on him before properly dealing with their opponent, which I find to be such an appealing layer to their dynamic, and a good spin on the type of character he gets stereotyped as.
Bonus: Dazai also becomes a softy when Chuuya's hurt, especially post corruption. Dead Apple alone displays that multiple times.
All in all, Skk are doing a terrible job at maintaining their 'hostile' and 'antagonistic' relationship post their reunion. Freaks.
Hello lovely!! I was wondering (if ur still posting that is) if you could do a fluff scenario between the character and reader, titled ‘Quiet Evenings’. Basically, the character comes home from a rougher-than-usual day at work to the typical, domestic sight of their shared apartment with their partner. Reader is finishing up dinner, when the character gently wraps their arms around their waist from behind, and burying their face in their lover’s shoulder/neck/hair. All the reader has to do for a moment is pay attention to (character’s) expression to know what they need, and softly ask ‘quiet evening tonight?’ and character doesn’t hesitate to nod. Twenty minutes later, they’re…idk, doing something cute. Watching a movie, reading, eating dinner, bathing or drying each others hair, massage, you pick depends my on what you think the character would like. I hope you’re doing well and continue to post amazing content <333
Quiet evenings (BSD x Reader Headcanon)
🌸 Characters in this chapter : Dazai & Chuuya.
🌸 Spoils : none!
A/N : Hello everyone, especially you, and thank you so much for this request!
First of all, I would like to apologize to the person who asked me this for the delay in writing it. Without going into details, it’s still a health issue, but also because I haven’t been writing about BSD for a while now… So this will be the second-to-last request I’ll make on this topic—I’m sorry about that! If you see any mention that I’m still accepting requests in any of my previous BSD chapters, that’s no longer the case (as of today, July 16, 2026). I had moved back into Harry Potter, and I am taking requests for this fandom, if you want!
Do not hesitate to tell me if you liked, and thank you again for the request!!
I hope you enjoy reading this <3
Dazai
• You were fully occupied with finishing up the final preparations for dinner, despite the fatigue that had built up during your workday. You had spent a long time considering ordering a ready-made meal from your usual restaurant, but you had decided that, this time, cooking might allow you to take your mind off work.
• You heard the front door open a few seconds after you finished making the curry rice that you were going to wolf down that evening—it looked so appetizing. Footsteps came toward you, slowly, and you were already starting to have your doubts.
• Your boyfriend then appeared in the small kitchen of your apartment, just as you were taking out the chopsticks and glasses. Out of the corner of your eye, you could clearly see that the newcomer had forgotten to take off his shoes; you knew right away that the day had not been easy for Dazai either, though the work itself was not necessarily the cause of his exhaustion. In your humble opinion, it was more likely all the thoughts—and everything that went along with them—that were wearing your boyfriend down and weighing on his mind, just as they often had before.
• Unsurprisingly, he approached you with slow steps, his expression unreadable; then he wrapped his arms around your waist, burying his face in your neck, breathing in deeply and sighing to his heart’s content, as if trying to let go of all the bad things that had built up during the day—his clownish side having clearly gone on vacation for that evening.
• “…A quiet evening, today?” you asked in a soft voice, a question to which Dazai replied with a simple nod, making you smile bitterly. You did not like seeing him like that, to be sure, but you also knew that, often, the weight of life—along with its problems—would sometimes come crashing down on people without warning, changing their perspective on the lives they were leading. It happened to you too, just like everyone else; the main thing was not to let yourself be completely swallowed up by those awful feelings, even if that was easier said than done, of course.
• With Dazai’s past gnawing at him and your own worries, it was not uncommon for moments like this, when your spirits were low, to occur from time to time; so you had instituted what you now called “quiet evenings,” and that’s what you did that evening.
• Settled on the couch in your small apartment, you had quietly eaten the curry rice you had just prepared, curled up together in front of a relaxing TV show that was currently airing a documentary on rivers around the world.
• It was while watching this that you had an idea.
• “What if we went for a walk by the river after dinner? No one will be out at a time like this; we’ll have the place to ourselves.”
• Dazai did not answer right away, continuing to eat the contents of his bowl while thinking deeply—you could tell. After a few moments, he nodded again, muttering an affirmative reply, to which you responded with a smile, before rushing to grab your coats, knowing that the temperature by the water would be a little cooler.
• A few minutes later, the two of you were strolling peacefully along the riverbank, hand in hand, without saying a word; yet you did not need to say anything to appreciate this moment—so simple, and yet so memorable—and you knew it deep down.
• After walking a few meters at a soothing pace, you finally sat down on a bench. Dazai rested his head on your shoulder and absentmindedly watched the city lights reflecting off the water, seeming to be feeling a little better. A brief silence fell around you before Dazai suddenly spoke, almost in a whisper.
• “…thank you.”
• Gently squeezing his hand, you replied in the same tone.
• “No problem. Let’s do this again whenever you want.”

Chuuya
• As was often the case, he was coming home stressed and exhausted, with night having already fallen several hours earlier. But he had to stay optimistic: at least he had been able to go home that day (or rather, that night), instead of spending yet more days at work.
• He pushed open the door to his apartment carefully, so as not to make a sound. Taking off his shoes, removing his coat and hat, and turning on the light were all done in complete silence, so as not to wake a certain someone.
• That person was, of course, you, who had to get up very early the next morning to go to your own job. And Chuuya, being the good boyfriend and roommate that he was, certainly did not want to deprive you of that wonderful and essential thing called sleep.
• He tiptoed through the apartment, deciding to take a quick shower and go to bed right away. So that’s what he did, as quietly as possible, and emerged from the bathroom a few minutes later in his pajamas, a towel wrapped around his neck to catch the water dripping from his still-wet hair.
• He was about to open the kitchen door, wanting to have a drink before going to sleep (maybe something made from fermented grapes, who knows...?), when he came face-to-face with someone who nearly made him jump out of his skin—if it were not for his mafia-sharp reflexes. He calmed down once he recognized the person in question.
• You had narrowly escaped a wrestling move, you knew that; but managing to scare Chuuya—who was always (most of the time, or rather, every now and then...) so in control of himself and his reactions—was your little guilty pleasure, you had to admit. But, to make up for it, you had already set everything up while he was taking a shower.
• As was often the case, you had not been able to fall asleep before your boyfriend arrived, so you had waited patiently for him well past midnight, knowing he was supposed to come back today—after nearly two days without seeing him and a recent business trip that had lasted several weeks.
• Being quite exhausted, Chuuya simply sighed with relief at your usual antics, flashing a smile as he told you not to do it again—which, of course, you had no intention of doing.
• For the moment, however, you nodded with a big, innocent smile, and Chuuya was not fooled, though he let it slide with a gentle shake of his head. He was, however, pleasantly surprised when you handed him a glass containing a liquid with a magnificent purplish-red color—wine, of course, from your shared and personal stash—which he hastened to taste, sitting down on one of the bar stools surrounding the kitchen island to do so.
• This was not the first time you had shared this kind of little moment; whenever you or Chuuya came home late and exhausted from work, you often made it a tradition to have a small glass of wine together, no matter how late it was. It was a magical moment, one that belonged to the two of you, that made you appreciate every second of each other’s presence. However, it took Chuuya a few minutes to realize that something was off this time.
• You had not poured yourself a glass, which was unusual. Since he was tired, his brain was working much slower than usual, but he finally asked you, “Why didn’t you pour yourself some wine?”
• You answered that question quickly, with a big smile and that innocent look only you could pull off: “It would be bad for the baby.”
• Chuuya simply nodded, taking a sip of his precious tea. It was true; alcohol was very dangerous for pregnan—
• The very next second, he spat out everything in his mouth, nearly choking on the drink he loved so much… and which was horribly expensive, by the way. But that was not what caught his attention at that moment.
•“W-what do you mean, ‘it would be bad for the baby…?’” stammered the poor young man, wiping his face with the sleeve of his pajamas, looking at you as if a second head had suddenly sprouted on your body.
• As for you, you were content to keep smiling, clearly satisfied with how you had managed to deliver this important announcement, one that had been weighing on your mind for several days already. You already knew that Chuuya wanted to have children someday, and so did you; it had simply happened a little sooner than expected… You just hoped this news would not put a damper on this pleasant evening, which had been calm and relaxing—to a certain extent.
• Something happened, however, that you had not anticipated at all. Your boyfriend’s eyes—which had been staring at you for several minutes now without moving or saying a word—had just started to well up, as crazy as that might seem; one of the rare times this had ever happened, to be honest. Perhaps fatigue and alcohol had something to do with it.
• “I… Is that true…?” he asked, unwilling to believe it, in case it was just a joke. But you were not cruel enough to tell him a story like that only to have it turn out to be false.
• Just as you nodded—once again overcome by the anxiety of the past few days despite your smile—Chuuya stood up from his chair, staggering slightly, overcome by exhaustion and surely by the glass of wine he had just downed. He then came over and pulled you into his arms, burying his face in your neck, but you were not fooled.
• “…You know, Chuuya, it’s okay to cry every once in a while,” you said in a soft but slightly teasing voice, unable to help yourself.
• “I’m not crying,” the young man simply mumbled, his voice slightly muffled by your T-shirt.
• Then, after taking a deep breath...
• “…this is the most wonderful, relaxing evening of my life.”
Main Masterlist - One-Shots List - Headcanons List
Ranpo isn't used to being uncertain about things, in fact, there is nothing in the world that he is less accustomed to. He always has things figured, it's always taken him seconds and it somehow takes him Even Less Time to blabber out the answer.
But that certainty comes from cold hard facts. Feelings are far, far, faaaar trickier.
So obviously. Instead of figuring out a way to put his feelings into proper words and going through the grueling feeling of vulnerability and heat rushing into his face and down his neck.
He makes you do it.
Eventually, you won't be able to keep quiet about your feelings and he knows this. But at the rate you're going, it's going to take ages. So he's going to help speed up the process! Because someone needs to confess.
And its certainly not going to be him. For obvious reasons.
So heres now it goes:
- All up in your space. He knows you get flustered when he's near. Filing some paperwork? He's sitting on your desk. Taking a break on the couch? He's sitting down and draping his legs over your lap. You're taking your lunch break? He's hungry too!!! Buy him a treat!!!
- Makes you accompany him whenever he gets sent out. It doesn't matter if you can drive or not, he'll tell you everything he's already figured out about the case on the way there regardless! He's basically figured it all out already anyways. Isn't that impressive? Isn't he the best? Praise him, please and thank you.
- Compliments you. Indirectly. All the other members of the ADA always mention how highly Ranpo seems to think of you. It's clear that he values your input, he finds you incredibly dependable as well, y'know, he's even mentioned that you're pretty easy on the eyes. Don't tell him they told you that, though. (It's all part of his master plan.)
- Shares. His supply is dwindling even faster because of you! You should feel honored. Or maybe not. He doesn't actually mind, don't feel bad for taking anything. Hurry up and eat the damn thing already.
- Listens to you. Actively. He makes sure to show that he's paying attention to you because he knows that you appreciate it. He doesn't really get it, he's always listening even if it looks like he's busy playing around. But feelings are weird and fragile. He'll be a little extra careful with yours.
- Makes an effort to not insult your intelligence. Not that he ever actually means to, his wording is just off. Which is why recently you've found him growing quiet in conversations for a few seconds. A small pout on his lips as he considers his words before snapping right back into place and continuing whatever tirade he was going on. All without throwing out an indirect jab. It's cute, and also very thoughtful.
- Minimizes the opportunities you have to get hurt in his plans. Obviously some things don't come together as neatly as one might hope but damnit if he isn't finding a way to keep you safe. You can be useful And out of harms way.
He's obvious, he doesn't trust you to not brush off his vaguer advances as him simply being friendly. He wants you to get the hint. Needs you to, really, because he's sick of pining just as much as you are.
When you do eventually ask to speak to him privately, invite him into your space and sit him down, his heart pounds.
Ranpo knows the outcome of this, he's set it in motion for weeks, maybe even months, but theres still Doubt.
He can't see the future.
He can infer it, maybe. Can imagine a future where you and him are happy, where everyday, the two of you lay in bed together, and you smile at him as you run your fingers through his black hair and his mind grows muddy.
But this isn't like any simple murder case. He knows some facts, yeah, but none of it will ever, ever be enough to be Certain. Certain of you and him. Together. It scares him.
But when you take his hands in yours, a little clammy from nerves, and whisper your feelings to him, he can't help but surge forward and press his lips to yours.
A wide smile. A simple, "I know."
You can feel his quiet laughter on your face.
He's lucky he didn't wheeze it out, with how tight his chest feels from pure giddiness.
hc that kyouka got along well with verlaine (as well as anyone in the mafia could get along lmao) so. kouyou and verlaine sibling rivalry because verlaine favors chuuya but chuuya prefers kouyou, and kouyou favors(?? not exactly but ykwim) kyouka and kyouka prefers verlaine
so it’s just kouyou and verlaine hating each other
Chuuya doesn’t just stand on the ceiling—he weaponises it.
Mid-fight, he’ll dodge an attack by casually flipping upwards, forcing his opponent to scramble just to track him.
It’s almost unfair. No one ever looks up when fighting indoors, and he uses that to his full advantage.
Dazai, of course, makes it a point to always look up. It’s saved his life more than once.
2. The Mafia Has Given Up
At this point, Mori doesn’t even question it.
Kouyou doesn’t even look when she scolds him to get down.
The Black Lizard has stopped reacting entirely.
Higuchi still flinches.
Tachihara once made the mistake of standing under him—Chuuya dropped down and nearly gave him a heart attack.
3. It’s Not Just for Battle
Chuuya claims he only does it for practicality, but the truth? It’s a habit. When he’s thinking, he sometimes finds himself pacing along the ceiling like it’s the floor.
When he’s drinking, he’ll kick back upside down like it’s the most normal thing in the world.
One time, he fell asleep up there and woke up to find Dazai had stacked chairs trying to reach him.
