dazai and fyodor are...
after thinking over this again and again, i think it might actually be true...
spoilers and theories underneath!
WHAT IF DAZAI AND FYODOR ARE REALLY BROTHERS?
like, no kidding.
1. Both are secretive af.
Usually, when dazai comes up with a plan, he doesn’t tell anybody about it, and will just wait until the effects of the plan took place that he will actually explain it (or, he doesn’t have to explain it anymore).
remember dazai and atsushi and Q’s doll?
and remember dazai placing a bomb inside lovecraft, surprising even steinbeck? dazai should’ve only known about lovecraft’s cthulu form’s immune from the outside after steinbeck told him about it. yet he was able to come up with a plan, so early beforehand, by placing a bomb, with whatever means, inside lovecraft. i mean, man, that isn’t smart. that’s genius.
now that we’ve seen it, it seems like everything is under his control.
a little theory underneath:
remember ranpo and chuuya being absorbed into poe’s book in ch49?
that’s probably (87% possibility) dazai’s plan as well.
he confronted fyodor in the last chapters, was perfectly aware of the sniper’s presence, got himself shot, and into the surgery, and his presence was no longer meaningful in the war between the mafia and the agency, essentially caused by fyodor.
however, as we have heard from poe, ranpo has told him to write a novel some time before, “for his showdown”, and that’s why ranpo was holding poe’s book back then.
i don’t know about that, maybe poe is a smartass like ranpo and completed his book in one day or something, but writing a novel takes time. and now ranpo was waiting specifically for chuuya in the alley. he even mentioned dazai’s name to provoke chuuya into fighting, showing that his actions are preplanned. (just remember how scared ranpo looked when his plans have gone wrong.)
so, his actions are planned.
and who knows chuuya best? dazai, his old partner.
and who made the plan about taking down the Guild and kyouka’s entrance exam with dazai? ranpo.
so as a result, dazai and ranpo might have planned chuuya’s being absorbed into the book as well.
fyodor has the ability to impose some sort of mental control on other people, like on hawthorne, in other words, brainwash other people. so it might have been his purpose to capture chuuya, brainwash him and use his ability of Corruption, or fight him to the point when he needed to use corruption without dazai’s presence.
dazai and ranpo has considered that, and come up with a plan to take chuuya to somewhere dangerous, but safe from fyodor.
isn’t that just smart?
but the problem comes here.
why does dazai know so much about fyodor?
that’s taken from their conversation in the alley.
would it be possible that dazai actually knows fyodor, already?
just don’t forget at the end of the anime season 2, dazai and hirotsu were sitting in front of a painting. and dazai said this:
and in the manga, dazai added, he has fought him before.
this shows that dazai and fyodor might have known each other, even before fyodor appeared in yokohama.
2. Origin unspecified.
we never knew who and where dazai’s parents are, or why they abandoned him so that he has to join the port mafia. dazai’s history is unspecified.
neither is fyodor’s history. fyodor might as well be one of the creepiest characters on bungou cause we never knew anything about him. he killed without mercy, manipulated without sweating, and was terrifying to the point of being capable of killing people by making him kill himself. (ace from port mafia)
we are aware, that dazai is totally capable of that as well.
and now, this seems far fetched, but look at some bonding moments between fyodor and dazai...
and look how similar they looked, like, literally.
it wouldn’t surprise me if they were related.
so, that’s some far fetched theory i have! feel free to comment on it ><
