There are a lot of beautiful things about the Spiderverse movies but, as we head into increasingly unstable times of political unrest and change, I would just like to acknowledge how perfectly the Spiderverse creators and team captured New York City culture.
From the song choices (no lie, ASTV introduced me to Rakim and got me interested in learning the about the origins of hip-hop) to just the way in which Miles moves and acts—it's a representation of a life that I and so many other people live but rarely see on screen because we’re not from that New York City where it’s all glitz and glamour and Midtown. It showcases the culture of New York City, the side of it that people call home.
The Spiderverse movies are so special to me because, aside from plot, they pay homage to New York City. It feels like being taken back to elementary and high school days where you'd walk to the train station with your friends after a long day and goof around while you wait for the train to come and it's a beautiful and unique NYC experience that, again, does not get shown on the big screen enough and that’s a fucking beautiful thing.
The only "death" i wanna see in btsv is noir and it needs to be funny as shit; him cause as far as i'm aware, he's the only one with some sorta immortality (god wont let him die) aside from porker (death slips on a banana peel chasing him), and by death i mean he has to get obliterated. full on decapitated and then show up next scene no explanation i think i'd be really funny
wake up y'all ive decided to single handedly revive the entire backstage fandom
I don't know if you remember this at all or even watched it, but do you know how maybe like fifteen years ago (circa 2005, I think?) the Disney channel would air Canadian programming after acquiring it? If you do know what I am talking about, have you ever seen any of those Canadian shows they would broadcast, and if you did, which ones did you like/know of?
Do you mean shows like Life With Derek or In a Heartbeat (I’ve watched both). Disney still has occasionally done this—most recently that I recall was Backstage. I think In a Heartbeat was my fave because it made me want to get into medical/healthcare field
I’m pretty sure this fandom is dead but if you are a member of the Backstage TV fandom PLEASE interact with me and be my friend
