I think that, if anything, this trip to America has proven that BTS protects ARMY and ARMY protects BTS, just as Namjoon promised once. We fought for them to get better interviews, to make sure that interviewers notice the questions we really want them to ask. We want the boys to feel at ease, wherever they are. We want their voices to be heard in the right way. At the same time, BTS is out there protecting us, trying to show the US mainstream media that we’re not the crazy, obsessed maniacs everyone seems to think we are. Some interviewers were trying real hard, but the boys haven’t said one bad word.

It’s a relationship between kpop groups and fans that is very hard to understand for people who are not part of it, I think. Most idols from other countries don’t think twice when answering a question like ‘What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever done’. Because they feel like it wouldn’t hurt. People will just ‘know’ that not all fans are like that, right? But BTS thinks differently and I really appreciate that. I feel like, with the way the kpop industry works, they are just automatically deeply grateful to their fans and would never think about saying something that might put those fans in a bad light. It’s just the way this works. We care about their image, they care about ours.
