IMPORTANT! BTS HER Outro Analysis PART 1 Kim Nam Joon and Kim Tae Hyung (Rap monster and V)
The world is a complex
We wus lookin’ for love
I used to be one of those whatever people too
I didn’t believe what real love is
I used to say habitually that I want to love
But I found myself
The whole new myself
I’m confused too, which one is really me
I met you and did I realize that I’m a book
Or did you turn the page
Damn
Anyways I want to be the best man for you
It’s probably naturally because you are my world itself
I would become what you want, God I swore to myself
So many complex
But I’m lookin’ for love
I can be a fake self as long as you embrace me
You are my beginning and the end itself
Will you finish me
All of my wonder
The answer to that
I call you her, her
Cuz you’re my tear, tear
It's not the right time, so I'll just look at you from afar behind you."
Rap monster talks about loving this person so much though he didn’t use to believe what love is but was secretly craving love. This is shown a lot throughout the story line. Normally we see Rap monster chilled, laid back with that stupid lollipop in his mouth doing the bad things but never really having a reaction. With V (his Sinclair opposite), he seems to just follow at the back not really saying anything whilst V does most of the stuff looking for approval from Namjoon’s character. Obviously we now know now that the reason Rap Monster doesn’t reach out is because he’s too scared to go forward he rather watch from behind and stay there not saying anything cause he doesn’t think he’s the right person to go forward and help who he loves or care about.
But by meeting his “Her” or in this case his Sinclair figure who he cares about V, he’s learning more about himself, learning to a bit more bolder, talk more, laugh more, show affection more (the hair tie he left for the girl on the bus who represents V) This whole feelings are mentioned in his wings song which told his story of him struggling to love himself. However even if he’s changing, Rap monster is still confused, he feels like he’s trying to change but since he sees his true self as low, he feels fake every time he improves. He stops knowing he is, and starts to back down again and fake happiness (ignorance of V’s situation)
The call back to the book in this lyric remind me of Jin who is holding to a diary of a girl who he saw who is his everything and memories he doesn’t want to leave. I believe she represents the other guys and as she gets killed because of the guys not loving themselves its not goanna be a happy ending for love yourself. Especially Jin who’s trying desperately to turn the past which he ends up changing.
Rap monster knows that V and him won’t end up probably happily (Will you finish me in his last sentence of his lyric is a foreshadow but also a shadowing of him knowing that both V and him are not ok) however for now he’s goanna stay in ignorance and fake being happy, until the end comes. Which is exactly he does until V loses control kills his father and turns himself in to protect Namjoon’s who ends up disappearing or dying (we don’t know yet) He desperately tries to save V at the end but he can’t it’s too late everything has gone bad, and so now he’s back to being empty. If only he loved himself enough and trusted in himself to save V this all wouldn’t have happened and that’s why V and Rap monster’s story line/relationship is painful.
