You didn’t know how anyone could smile and laugh normally.

Because of the past and the painful events you went through in your life, you didn’t know how to let go and how to forget that had ever happened.

All of the pain has led you to lose all of your interests and the smile that used to brighten anyone’s day. There’s no need for that since you can’t even enjoy yourself.

Barely anyone understood your pain, your friends all told you to simply ‘get over it’ and they didn’t want to wait for you. And they’re the same type of people who would preach about kindness.

Except for one person...Park Jimin.

Your high school friend who carefully listened to all of your problems and tried to stay by your side even though he was no therapist. He would always wait for you at the bus stop, saved a cookie from the lunch line, and helped you out with your homework.

If there was at least one light in your sad and drab life, it was Jimin.

You turned off the alarm that was blasting through your brain, sluggishly making your way towards the bathroom to shower and brush your teeth. You didn’t want to put a lot of effort but you didn’t want to smell like a barnyard animal.

After you pick out an oversized sweater and jeans, you find Jimin waiting outside your door. A small smile graced your lips as you gave him a small hug.

“Hi Jimin.”

“Hey, sweetie. Do you want to walk together?”

“You don’t have to ask me y’know. There’s no way I would say no.” You chuckled lightly as Jimin looped his arm around yours. Normally, you two would take the bus but it was a pretty good day to walk to school.

Your depression hasn’t really gotten any better, maybe it seems like it was slowly fading away due to Jimin’s presence in your life but your goodbye letter to him still remains in your locker.

School was hard for you since the counselors didn’t do anything except tell your parents, which got you kicked out from your house and the school body basically isolated you. There was no reason to keep moving on until Jimin asked you a question at the end of the day.

“Hey, Y/N, do you want to hang out with me at the movie theater in the evening?”

“Sure, why not?” You didn’t feel like going anywhere that day because you felt like you would bring Jimin down. But little did you know, he asked you for another reason.

The evening came and Jimin waited for you in a nice jacket, shirt, and pants. You looked down at your sweater and jeans, instantly cringing at your lack of style.

“Do you want anything to eat?” he asked softly.

“No but I’ll wait for you if you do.”

“Okay, I’m going to get popcorn.” As you waited for Jimin to buy his food, you felt your cheeks heating- what’s going on?

You and Jimin chose to watch a teen romance film, a genre that’s not your favorite but you didn’t care.

Halfway through the film, you wanted to have some popcorn. Reaching over to the box, you touched it the same time Jimin did. The feeling of your fingers touching made your heart race as you giggled awkwardly. Jimin smiled, holding your hands together.

What’s going on? Is Jimin holding my hand? You’re starting to like him in a romantic way but you were scared that he might leave you one day because of your depression.

The movie ended and you were still holding hands with Jimin. Suddenly, he took you to an empty corner in the hallway and held your hands tightly.

“Listen Y/N, please don’t be weirded out but the reason I asked you to hang out today is because I thought of it as a date. Y/N, I really like you. I love being around you and I want to be with you for a long time.”

His confession surprised you since you were unsure if you were ever to be loved. Tears started to flow down your cheeks as Jimin gently kissed them away.

“I-I really like you too but what if you leave me because of my-”

“Don’t you ever say that Y/N. Even if you have depression, I’ll always do my best to be a big light in your life because I love you. I have loved you since the day we met.”

“Jimin…” He pulled you in for a kiss, a kiss that was passionate yet sweet at the same time. Your heart felt like it was about to explode. “Thank you.”

“You don’t have to thank me. Anyways, do you wanna go get ice cream?”

You nodded with a smile, making Jimin laugh as he placed a hand around your shoulders and you two walked away.

After you came back, you picked up your goodbye letter to Jimin.

Even though it was hard to smile and be happy, there was no point of ending when there was one person who was constantly waiting and loving you.

And you want to love and care for him back, at the present right now.

Hearing the obnoxiously loud camera sound from your phone, you’re thrown a quizzical look with a smirk. “Did you just take a picture of me?”

“Possibly.”

“Let me see.”

“So you can delete it? That’s a nope.”

He stuffs his own camera deep into the pocket of his jacket and steps toward you, wrapping his arms around your waist from behind your back. Yoongi nuzzles his face into your neck, placing a brief kiss right at the base, before resting his chin on your shoulder.

You’re well aware he’s able to see your screen and allow it anyway. It’s a beautiful shot and it shouldn’t be kept to yourself.

“Don’t post that.”

“I wouldn’t dare. You don’t have to tell me that,” you roll your eyes at his demand. Sharing it online was not what you had in mind. “I think I want this for my bedroom,” you sigh thinking of how infrequently you actually get to spend time with him there.

The moon was large in the sky, casting a glow across the water and shoreline. You breathed out a content sigh, snuggling up closer to the warm body next to you. Taehyung chuckled and tightened the arm around your waist. The sound of the waves beat a soft lullaby against the sand as the two of you lay on a warm blanket in silence. The night was cool, but not too cold, and Tae decided it was a perfect time to sneak out together, just the two of you, for an impromptu date on the beach. The boys were shooting a video out there and brought you along. You weren’t part of the crew or anything, but they all claimed Tae worked a lot harder and didn’t get so distracted when he knew you were watching him. Every re-take or mess up meant less time off camera to spend with you, after all.

  A soft sigh left your boyfriend’s lips and you lifted your head to look up at his face. He opened his eyes slightly, giving you a sleepy grin.

  “What are you looking at, hmm?”

  “Nothing,” you smiled at him, dropping your chin onto his chest.  He smiled back and threaded his fingers through your hair. “Just admiring you. You’re practically glowing in this moonlight, so beautiful…”

  His eyes widened, fingers stuttering in your hair. “H-hey! I’m the one who’s supposed to say heart-stopping lines like that!”

  You laughed, pushing yourself up onto your elbows to look down on him properly. “Oh come on Tae, everyone knows I’m the charming one in this relationship.”

  He pouted before letting out a bark of laughter and throwing his arms above his head in defeat. “Ahhhh, it’s true, it’s true. You’re so charming, it’s a wonder how you don’t have more guys running after you! I should be careful or someone might steal you away some day!”

  Your face fell lightly at his comment. He said it like a joke, but you could feel the truth of his fear underneath it. You lay your head back down on his chest, listening to the quickened heartbeat. “That could never happen…”

  “Hmm?”

  “I said, that could never happen. I’d never be able to find another man so amazing as you are. No matter how many people might ‘chase after me’, my eyes will only ever see you.” You splayed your hand across his stomach as his found its way around your waist again. “I don’t think I could ever feel this way about someone else… You’re the light of my world, the air I breathe, the only reason to wake up with a smile. Every day we spend together is a blessing and every moment a gift. I love you with all my heart, Taehyung.”

  The fingers running soft patterns on your back never stopped through your speech, and didn’t now, but the man they were connected too had yet to say a word. You let the silence sit for another moment before lifting your head to look up at him again. His lips were held in a straight line, eyes closed, face giving no emotion. Your heart jumped lightly in fear before he stirred, taking a shuddering breath. He opened his eyes, misty orbs meeting yours as a quivering smile spread across his lips.

  “Don’t you know? I’m the one who’s supposed to say emotional things like that…”

 You laughed and pulled yourself up to his height, arms wrapping tightly around him and he buried his face in your chest, happy sobs moving through him. You calmed him, kissing his face all over, murmuring soft words into his hair, hugging his insecurities away. He wiped away his tears on his hand before pulling you to him as tightly as possible, the two of you listening to the waves and taking comfort in the silence of each other’s presence.
