BEN TALLMADGE THIRST APPRECIATION POST [4/?]
MARTY and JENNIFER’S
GOOD OLE’ DAYS SCRAPBOOK
Hey Doc,
How have you been? I just wanted to let you know that we’ve been spending a lot of time back in the early 20th Century. I know you’re not surprised. I know we talk often about how it’s our favorite period to spend time in. You and Clara have the Old West, we have Knotts Berry, Farm in the 1920s.
You know we love taking Road Trips. Two weeks putt-putting on America’s old two lane roads, some of which are paved with bricks, criss-crossing the continent. Sounds like heaven to me. I know when we get back to see you again, it’s gonna seem like we’ve only been gone a minute but, I wanted to write you just to tell you the things we’ve been getting up too these last few years that Jennifer and I have spent together in the past.
We’ve spend a lot of time in California of course. Gondola rides in Venice Beach, bathhouses in Santa Cruz. We saw the HollywoodLAND sign and the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. We also checked out the brand new zoo in San Diego.
Jennifer and I loved watching new movies at the cinema at the Navy Pier in Chicago, gambling at the casinos in Las Vegas, or watching the new Hoover Dam get built. We skiied in North Conway, snorkeled with mermaids in Weeki Wachi, and played Roque at the Overlook Hotel in Sidewinder, Colorado.
But before World War II, New York was the most fun. Grand Central Station and the Empire State Building were brand new. We went to Radio City Music Hall and the new Museum of Modern Art. We took in games at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, and watched the billboards go up in Times Square.
But most of all we loved Coney Island, spending hours at Dreamland. We enjoyed a good Nathans Hot Dog and a Root Beer Float after riding the carnival rides all day. Things back then just tasted better, I don’t know how to explain.
Most of all we took advantage of having unlimited time, as well as the benefits of the anti-aging serums we picked up from you in the future, to maximize time together. I can’t wait to get back to the Good Ole’ Days once again. I’m trying to convince Jennifer to retire together in a cabin in the Poconos, maybe 1934ish. Some time around then…Anyway, I’ll see you soon.
Your friend in Time.

Fish Out of Water || Pia & Wizard
@childlikemermaid
Evening had set on the town of Castanet. The day had been eerily complacent, with no special occurrences to speak of. In fact, it was enjoyable to have a day without the Witch Princess running a muck, as it was sure to give Wizard some problems.
The lanky man took a sip of the coffee he’d prepared -- already tepid. He had been busy studying over some new scrolls he’d acquired from the mystical beings that resided in this town. Though he was sure to move on from this land soon, it had bargained to be one of the more interesting places he’d resided in. With a breath, Wizard rose from his wooden desk, raising a hand above candles on his way up to his telescope. They lit beneath his touch and cast a comforting glow across the otherwise dark room. He preferred it this way, since it was easier to see the stars from a dark place.
Wizard walked up his stairs, gliding to his telescope. He peeked through before adjusting it slightly, brows slanting in concentration, before looking through the lens once more. Constellations were peeking through the veil of the night already, and he picked out new patterns in the stars before him. He reached for his chart and pen, aching to plan out the new track of the stars, and accidentally pushed his telescope with his shoulder. He peeked through it again, noticing it was now set on the beach near his home, but...
A pirate ship was docked on the coast, and there was nary a soul awake at this time in Castanet to raise alarm. Wizard moved his telescope down, trying to catch a glimpse to see if anyone was on the ship when he saw three figures struggling on the sand. Two of the nasty sea-breeds were dragging another figure onto shore, and Wizard’s eyes went wide when he saw exactly what it was. Could it be...? I thought their kind had gone into hiding... He frowned, staring into his telescope with intense thought. Perhaps it was better to leave this alone...

The day following her return to the island, Forte had an odd feeling she couldn't shake. It pricked at her skin, making the hair on her neck stand on end. Goosebumps covered her arms intermittently throughout the day, but... she didn't feel ill or anything. It had been quite the ordeal, but she kept telling herself it would be okay. She was alive, and that's what mattered.
Something was off, though, and she couldn't ignore it. Dealing with death, in any capacity, was intense, but who knows what returned with her. Maybe some curse followed where the dragon bit her? Maybe some ghost attached instead of moving on? She couldn't deny their existence now... a shiver surged down her spine, radiating through her.
There was no shame in being checked out, she told herself, and headed to the dragon shrine. She didn't go often since moving to Arcadia, but she knew the priests and priestesses there would be able to help her if anything unnatural attached itself.
It was quiet inside, and she almost felt guilty breaking such calm. The words almost didn't come, as if her body wanted to keep all that trauma and experience to itself. Hide it away.
"Excuse me," she said to the only other woman there, hoping the pinkette was indeed a priestess, "I-I am aware that curse dispelling services are offered here? Is-is there any way to," she hesitated, clearing her throat, "check for unknown curses, or... spirits... on a person?"
She almost immediately regretted asking. What would people think if they found out an officer of the law was scared of ghosts?
