     It’s not often that Elena is at a loss for words. In fact, in most situations, Elena knows exactly which words to say when in order to produce the desired effect. Except, as Stefan walks into the Boarding House where she had been doing her paper on a laptop, there’s a dumbfounded expression upon her face. It’s clear that she had been working on something-- papers scattered across the library table, other chair pulled out as if someone had been sitting there with her-- except the only other person would have been Katherine who wasn’t anywhere to be found at the moment. 

     “There’s--- I’m not sure how..” Oh god, she sounded like Bonnie when the redheaded girl was flustered. “Stefan, I need to show you something.” It wasn’t everyday you found out that your already upturned life just got a whole lot more complicated because your immortal enemy suddenly was discovered your half-sister.

     It had been clear, over the course of the days following the Lockwood Party, that Elena hadn’t been entirely happy with the situation at hand. Now, not only did Katherine turn Caroline but she had forced Tyler to kill a friend who she’d known for years-- well, maybe friend was a strong word but the fact remained Sue had been an innocent girl-- turning himself into a werewolf. And to top it all off Katherine was now staying at the Boarding House and she was almost positive that Katherine was getting a kick out of all of the above. “I swear if we don’t find a way to unlink Katherine and I soon, I’ll stake her myself anyway.” Of course, this was her speaking figuratively but Elena was beyond frustrated, everything boiling over after she found out about what Katherine did to Bonnie-- or tried to do, whatever.

“So hypothetically, if I needed a little help with my paper on the Civil War, you’d be willing to help me right?” Bonnie asked as she almost bounced over to Stefan. She was in a fairly happy mood-- refusing to let the fact that they all had to deal with Katherine get to her. “Just, let’s study at my house or ‘Lena’s...” She really didn’t want to have a repeat of the last time she was at the boarding house with Katherine.

The BTTSAU is a TVD canon divergent group verse with novel influence (Elena and Katherine being half-sisters, blonde, and not doppelgangers, vampires having novel powers [basically the powers they had in season one before they were edited], novel based faceclaims/versions if so chosen, etc) that begins in season two and progresses forward within the canon we create. Novel knowledge is not needed and original and crossover characters are welcome on a case by case basis.

Present Storyline

After the return of the villainous Katherine to Mystic Falls, werewolves being added to the mix, and the subsequent chaos this inspired the supernatural and human residents of Mystic Falls continue to play Katherine’s dangerous game. In the aftermath Caroline Forbes was turned into aa vampire, the Salvatore brothers were nearly killed, and Elena– Mystic Falls’ Queen Bee– and Katherine entered into a complicated war both socially and for the heart of Stefan. With the Lockwood masquerade ball in full swing Katherine’s plans took shape as she revealed she had gained the moonstone and she caused a chain reaction of events which caused Tyler to trigger his werewolf curse (killing Sue Carson). She also had a witch link her with Elena so that if she (Katherine) would be attacked it would also harm the still (mostly) human Elena allowing her a certain level of protection. Meanwhile, now a werewolf, Tyler found help from unlikely sources to transition into his new life as a werewolf. Now, with the arrival of vampires Rose and Trevor to Mystic Falls, them having revealed the existence of Elena and her family to the Original Vampire Elijah in exchange for freedom, a new and diabolical danger lurks in the shadows as hidden truths will be uncovered and nothing will be the same for the residents of Mystic Falls.

In all honesty, Bonnie should know better than to enter the Boarding House alone with Katherine running about. Except, she’d gotten a text from Elena’s phone saying Katherine and Stefan had left the Boarding House and Bonnie needed to speak with Damon. She isn’t aware that Elena can’t find her phone or that this was the one time that Katherine was actually being left alone in the house given there not being any other option on that day. So Bonnie walks in, closing the door gently behind her. “Damon?” She calls, except it’s not Damon who’s there.

Lockwood Aftermath | Elena & Katherine

     Stefan and Damon hadn’t always seen eye to eye, this much was blantly obvious over the last few months. Still, Elena had observed that even when they seemingly hated each other both came through for the other and this evening as the Lockwood Party had been in full swing was no different. They’d formed a plan to stop Katherine and while Elena had every confidence in this plan it had seemed the other had been one step ahead of all of them, again. It was infuriating and this didn’t just stem from the excursiating pain which had coursed through her when she felt like she was stabbed with a stake or the notion that an expensive french dress had now been ruined by blood stains. 

     “What did you do?!” Elena’s voice had risen and there was a clear anger in her eyes as she saw the brothers walk toward them with Katherine. “Can’t you just find the witch and get her to reverse the linking spell?” Her first question had been directed toward Katherine but Elena’s second had been obviously directed toward Damon-- not Stefan. Damon, Elena knew, would be more willing to do what was required in a situation like this than Stefan. However, Bonnie speaking up from behind her answered her question for her.’She’s long gone and it has to be undune by the same person whoput it in place.’ To this, Elena let out a frustrated sound. She still didn’t even know about what happened with Tyler yet either.

First Meeting | {Slight Flashback} | Elena & Katherine

                                      They weren’t identical.                   Yet, the resemblance couldn’t be escaped from. 

     Elena could see why both Stefan and Damon had had the reactions they did when they had both first come across her. Both of them had long blonde hair, both held pale skin and radiant blue eyes-- the color of lapis lazuli, the stone which helped protect vampires from the sun. Even some of their bone structure made it appear that these two woman-- standing a mere few feet away from each other-- would be able to pass immediately as sisters. The notion made a chill run down Elena’s spine; she wasn’t Katherine and never would be. 

     In the short amount of time the woman before her had been in Mystic Falls she had turned one of Elena’s friends into a vampire and already attempted mind games on Stefan and, by the look in Damon’s face earlier that day, Damon too. Granted, Elena wasn’t above such games either, on occasion, if it meant getting what she wanted, but she would never play games with Stefan’s heart. Never. 

     “You must be Katherine.” Elena stated, gaze critical, as Elena seemed to recognize her even though she had never met Katherine before. There was a certain tone to her voice that showed she wasn’t entirely impressed; as if, if she wanted there to be some big scene of shock on her face she wasn’t going to get it. How had Katherine gotten in here? Elena thought, though a moment later she supposed given that both present occupants of the Boarding House were vampires, other vampires didn’t need to be invited in.
