My Mother has been divided into 2 ....
they took the monkey's point
Some Mother 2/EarthBound guidebook art this time! I went through the trouble of remastering this art a bit by cleaning up the colors, but these were originally from Mother Forever as well! Check them out!
Also, more under the cut! The more spoilery ones are there alongside some of the sillier ones.
•Ness opened the mailbox.
• Inside there was a postcard from an old friend!
For SCP's word game- voluntary, creature, and pet (verb)
(Earthbound)
This morning had been an early and windy one, and although it’s chilly as well, such a detail need not be mentioned for a place like Winters. The monkey had grabbed some chewing gum from its pack in order to make a bubble, which it had done to blow a bubble so remarkable that it allowed him to float above Lake Tess, to which Jeff had understandably wondered if his glasses prescription needed adjustment, although only briefly.
His brief wondering is cut off by something beginning to emerge from the water. Then, to his great surprise, a large purple creature rises from the water, the monkey on its head. Jeff’s eyes widen, and his heart rate quickens.
Jeff gulps, though he can’t say for sure if it was voluntary or not at the moment. He’s only ever heard of this lake monster before - Tessie, they always called it - and he’s always considered the thought unnerving at best. And now here he is, staring face to face with it. With her? He recalls some of his classmates referring to Tessie as “she”.
Tessie draws closer, and Jeff turns his head and closes his eyes. This is it! He’s going to be lake monster food before he can even start to find a way to Eagleland in order to help Paula and Ness with… whatever it was they needed help with. He braces himself for razor-sharp teeth, and—
SLUUUURP!
Jeff blinks, finding himself not in the jaws of a lake monster, but instead covered in slobber. He slowly looks up at Tessie, at her dopey, empty-headed smile. Suddenly, he doesn’t feel so alarmed anymore.
“Y-y-you’re not sc…ary at all, are you?” he asks. He reaches a hand out to pet her snout, finding it smooth and slick. Tessie nuzzles past his hand and rubs up against his chest. Jeff can’t help but laugh.
“No, you’re just a bi-big sweetheart!” he declares with relief, hugging Tessie’s snout. He looks up at the monkey and lets go from the hug in order to put his hands on his hips. “Oi, warn a guy next time, wouldju, um, wouldju, monkey?”
The monkey just chatters, pointing at Tessie’s back. Jeff looks to the other side of the lake. She must be able to get them across! With a smile and a nod, Jeff climbs on, and Tessie begins to swim slowly and steadily across the lake’s frigid waters.
