Bubble-stitch beanie, 1st draft - Aug 12, 2023
Forgot to post my usual library selfie on Saturday. I finished the Bubble Stitch beanie, but it ended up being too small. When I make a second version, I'll add more of the darkest color at the bottom. Might do a reverse of the colors at the top, for the decrease section, too.
Not that they're easy to see, but I'm wearing my new earrings from Riverlily here, as well.
Bonus webcam selfie, so you can see my cool PopSocket with the moon and stars design.
Birthday Bubble Stitch Cardigan
My LYS gives a huge discount on your birthday....so I bought super chunky yarn in July so I could make a deliciously squishy sweater for myself for my birthday. Very yarn addict, wow. It's in "responsible colors" instead of something wild so I can wear it to the office.
The pattern is "Bubble Stitch Cardigan" by Paintbox Yarns and it's free with an account to their website.
It's supposed to look something like this:
They want you to use their yarn and I wanted to support my LYS so we had a disagreement on that front. I'm using Plymouth Yarn Encore Mega and Encore Mega Colorspun for the project (In grey and navy mix, respectively).
I've never done Bubble Stitch before and it's very...leap of faith-y. The first couple times I "K4 below" I was like BUT ARE YOU SURE THO? This pattern is pretty clear though, and I'm enjoying it. I think most of my questions that I have about the instructions for future portions are from my lack of sweater expertise, rather than any issue in the pattern.
I 100% chose a pattern that had super chunky yarn, size 11 needles, and a easy but a new and interesting stitch to HOPE AND PRAY that my two braincells stay interested in this project all the way to the end.
I just finished my bubble scarf, for the church auction, on Saturday. I put it in to soak, so I can block it. I hope they will like it!
Look what I just taught myself to do!!!! I am so excited. I am supposed to make something for our church auction, and I had no idea what to make. I get bored. I have been wanting to try this stitch, so I decided to put the two things together and viola!

Bubble Beanie Hat Knitting Pattern
By Kristen McDonnell - studioknit
If you've been with me for a while, you might remember I knit one of these bubble-stitch beanies back in August 2023. That version ended up being snug and short, but still looks good on my teddy bear.
Today, I just finished another one, using a different yarn than last time. The color shift in the yarn is not ideal for this project, with just the top and brim being different colors than the body. Might try another Hespera cowl with it, instead, since I have so much of this yarn-cake left.
I need a nap after all that knitting, so no pics of the actual project just yet.
