Despite telling his date that he didn’t intend to be the one to approach Bubbles (even if, as Fawn had pointed out, he had been looking at her rather a lot during the party) Morty naturally ended up changing his mind. It seemed like Bubbles grew less and less happy each time he caught sight of her throughout the evening, until she was looking downright downtrodden. Morty couldn’t help wanting to try cheering her up—whatever was going on on—and he knew it had been stupid waiting for her to talk to him anyway. What was he trying to prove? If he cared about her and wanted to see her smile, it didn’t matter if she sought him out or not. So he sucked up his pride and made his way over to where Bubbles was sitting, her sisters apparently off somewhere else at the moment and leaving her alone. Having brainstormed something to make her laugh on the way over, he came up behind her and covered her eyes with his hands, teasing, “Aren’t you supposed to be wearing a mask? Hide your face on Halloween so the spirits can’t find you. You’ll never guess who I am because you can’t see me!”
