Do they sell these at the show?

It depends on the show and the breeders themselves. Some people will sell their show bettas and others won’t. In the case of the one I went to, they had a separate auction where breeders participating brought in other stock to sell. :)

I know. It's kind of like talking to a brick wall sometimes. I just get so upset about it because I know how well I treat my horse, and the others where I ride, and how well the horses at the other local stables are treated. It's so discouraging to be constantly told that what I do is cruel, inhumane, harmful to the horse.

Nobody condemns all of dressage because of rollkur.

Nobody condemns all of show jumping because of poling or for numbing the horse's legs.

Nobody condemns all of western pleasure because of nerving tails or tying horse's heads to the rafters for hours so they can't lift them during the class.

Nobody condemns reining for starting yearlings under saddle or yanking on a horse's mouth in a curb bit.

ALL THAT SHIT HAPPENS. Sane people just know it's not the discipline, and people who do that are shitty trainers.

But the entirety of saddleseat is judged as horrible and awful because of the shitty trainers and their shitty practices. Or just because people can't seem to fathom a horse that can trot and hold its head up at the same time. "We don't get it, therefore it MUST be cruel!"

My trainer has a saying that I really like. "Other disciplines hide their dirty laundry behind closed doors. People hate saddleseat because everything we do with our horses is out in the open."
