Happy Birthday Lucy! It has just been over a year since I joined Rogues and Rebels which of course was great but it also came with making friends with you which was one of the best parts of 2023 for sure! You are such a light in fandom and in my life. I hope you have a fabulous day!
You are gonna make me cryyyy. I love you and all of TR&TR so much. Thank you for trusting me to be there for you guys and for making our little corner of the internet so lovely!!
okay. top 5 cassian andor moments. [chin hands] i love hearing your thoughts on cassian.
omg adjasdjsai ok no pressure then TOP FIVE HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOOSE okay
climbing up the vault with a fucked up back to shoot krennic, vanquishing the monster from jyn's childhood who has taken literally everyone she cares from her including - she thinks - this man who welcomed her home and helped her connect to her calling. coming back from the dead - again, she thinks - when everyone else has left her behind.
refusing to assassinate galen because he believes jyn and so he believes that galen has been sabotaging the death star this whole time. it's such an important moment in his arc not because he decides to do ~~~nonviolence lol no but because he thinks it is wrong. he doesn't want to kill someone who may be doing the right thing, who may be a key in stopping the empire. he doesn't want to fight in the shadows, killing allies even when there's not much alternative. he believes galen. and the reason he believes it when he has no reason otherwise to believe it is because jyn is his mirror, her need is the same, her fire the same. he sees a lot of himself in jyn. and so when she's got this fire under her ass, the clarity of purpose, he believes her. he even says it on the way to eadu - i'm not the one you've got to convince. because she's already convinced him. he believes her, which brings me to...
"but I do. I believe you." it's such a beautiful scene partly for the rebelcaptain of it all but also because it speaks to so much history that cassian has struggled through, and that very likely there have been times where he's considered himself a bad person (not for killing cops or troopers or whatever LOL no for killing people like tivik and even galen, for getting someone like nemik killed even though that really isn't fair, etc). finally cassian is able to look himself in the mirror and see someone who is able to fight in the broad daylight. once eadu passes, he never fights in anything but daytime. scarif is sunny and beautiful. even the vault is bright. it's a great scene. makes me think about how despite losing everything, he's made so many friends and loved ones in the rebellion, a community, people who are ready to fight and die with him because they believe him. and he believes her, his home.
the eadu fight. no one's really wrong and no one's really right. its such a great argument and anyone who thinks either jyn or cassian is like TOTALLY correct missed the point entirely. speaking on his pov, its so unfair for cassian because he has literally just put his weapon down for her and her father, because it's the right thing to do and because he believes her. she's attacking him and he's raw and just had this transformational, pivotal moment where he is honest with himself, and so he fights back - even if it's a little unfair of him, too. now i do think retconning his background as a child soldier is a little messy because of this scene in particular but it can work really well if you just take him to be referring to rebelling in his own ways his whole life, which... i do not buy was the intention of that scene but oh well. i can divorce the two.
cheating a BIT but the escape from jedha as well as the escape from aldhani. shows his talents as a pilot, his confidence in himself and also his math skills. i love the moments that show cassian's skills off - the show has a bunch of them, and i want to kind of combine them because they're just little moments. like cassian noticing the aldhani rebels' dominant hands, his immediate shift into building connections and recruiting in narkina-5, etc. i love it :)
that tag about the the third best thing a man can do is the dishes launched me right back to my ex not washing a goddamn dish and the incandescent rage i felt about it. i never knew what rage was until then. i realize i may have unresolved issues surrounding this lmao.
No but you were definitely right because it's not about the dishes. It's about the lack of consideration. It's about the gendered expectations. It's about men being socialized to prioritise their own laziness over their partner.
Not so fun fact: unequal distribution of domestic labour was one of the contributing factors of my parents' divorce. Not the main or only one, but definitely up there. And then my mother turned around and married a dude who does even less? My father is by no means perfect but at least he cooks. And you replace him with a guy who has never used a pan or pot or broom or mop or vacuum? Come the fuck on, how is this an improvement?
i don't know if i'm alone in this but i'm getting very mixed signals about the whole loki & sylvie thing. there are definitely some undertones that are making me uncomfortable and marvel will be raked through the mud for doing selfcest before a queer relationship. hopefully it's just loki being as confused as i am
god same!! i literally DO NOT want it at all and they’re definitely giving mixed signals and i don’t want it at all AT ALLLLLL. why can’t it just be mobius being jealous and poking fun at loki because actually HE wants to date loki lmfao.
realistically i can’t see it making sense because of the way they’ve written loki and sylvie’s relationship so far, because they’ve shown NO romantic interest in each other but hey we all know marvel have a track record for writing something and then acting like it never happened!!!!!
right?
re: danny's tight green shirt. that thing was legendary. s3 was just danny pining in increasingly tight clothes until lindsay removed that damn shirt. wardrobe really lost all pretense in hiding that people wanted to see carmine in tight little tshirts. (the commentary on trapped specifically talks about getting carmine in that undershirt).
The man slowly got less and less attractive to me as they removed the glasses and tight clothes. It’s the real tragedy of the show if you ask me.
the speculation that bucky will die seems unfounded. it doesn't make sense narratively. why would he die? what purpose does it serve at this point? he's already died once (no commentative tshirt just mental trauma and a metal arm). he's on the road to recovery and making friendship bracelets with sam. i'm hoping they'll be big in phase 4. it's what sam and bucky deserve.
^^^^^ I 100% agree with this notion
how dare you remind me of elena/damon. that was a TIME wasn't it? the tension. the pining. it was [chef's kiss]
It was SUCH a time. I don’t think I can be blamed for the fact that the actors desperately wanted to fuck IRL and that all came across on screen. Don’t blame me love made me crazy if it doesn’t it you ain’t doing it right - Taylor Swift, speaking for all of us.
