A couple of weeks later, Lorelei found out that she had jinxed it, when Nick got involved in a case involving an alien sighting. Of course, it wasn’t aliens, but the people who saw the wesen certainly seemed to think so. Lorelei met with Nick and Rosalee at the spice shop to discuss it.
“I can’t believe this. They were supposed to be extinct.” Rosalee said, looking at the entry in the journal Nick was showing them. “At least that’s what I was told.”
“Well, that wouldn’t exactly be in a natural history book.” Nick commented.
“No, these things have a very unnatural history. They were supposedly hunted to extinction. Like the buffalo, their skins were considered very valuable because of their luminescent quality. They’re hoarded by collectors. Did you actually see one?” Rosale asked in amazement.
Nick shook his head. “No. But I’ve got two people who say that they’ve seen aliens.” He told her. “And I’ve got a piece of glowing skin that can’t be categorised as animal or human.”
“When I was a kid, we used to think they were these beautiful, magical creatures that would glow in the dark. It was supposed to be really good luck to see one, you know, like the leprechaun legend.”
“It wasn’t so lucky for the ranch hand.” Nick told her, looking solemn.
“Or those mutilated cows.” Lorelei added.
Rosalee looked at them. “There were mutilated cows?”
“Yeah, six of them. There are more in other ranches.”
Rosalee stood up. “Give me…just wait, one second.” She turned to the shelves behind her. “Was anything cut out of them?”
“Their ovaries.” Nick said, a look of disbelief on his face.
Rosalee turned around, book in hand, and an excited look on her face. “There’s more than one. And she’s pregnant.”
“What?”
Rosalee placed a book in front of them. “There’s no way she’s doing the hunting on her own, that’s who the ovaries are for. Here, here, look.” She showed them a passage in the book. “Glühenvolk are an ancient wesen species with roots that go back to Africa. The gestating female consumes cow ovaries during pregnancy. I know it sounds hinky, but let’s just say it’s their pickles and ice cream.”
“So, he is mutilating cows to get at their ovaries, to feed to the mother of his soon to be born child.” Lorelei said, looking to Rosalee for confirmation.
Rosalee nodded. “The closer the attack on cows are, the closer she is to popping out a baby glühenvolk.”
“There have been twenty-seven attacks since they left Nebraska.”
Rosalee looked shocked. “Twenty-seven? Seriously, she is going to go into labour any minute.”
At that moment, the door opened, and Monroe walked in. “Oh, hey Nick, Lorelei.” He said, walking towards them, looking a little disappointed. The Burkhardt siblings greeted him. “Ah, I see you three have a book open there, which more likely than not pertains to some sort of catastrophic disaster, which in turn, can only means my date with Rosalee has been postponed.”
“Sorry Monroe.” Lorelei told him.
“Monroe, there is a glühenvolk mutilating cattle for ovaries because he has a pregnant woman about to give birth any minute.” Rosalee told him excitedly.
Monroe looked at her in disbelief. “Seriously? A glühenvolk.”
Rosalee smiled at him. “Yes.”
“I thought they were extinct.”
“Apparently not. But then again, we thought the same thing about the seltenvogel, and you know how that turned out.” Lorelei reminded him.
Monroe considered that before nodding. “True.”
“So, they’re moving along back roads, and the last cattle attack was right here.” Nick said, marking a spot on the map the four of them were leaned over. “The car was abandoned here, and the woman was abducted somewhere along here.”
“If she’s as pregnant as I think she is, she can’t get very far, not along those roads.” Rosalee remarked.
“My guess, I think they’re somewhere in here.” Monroe added, pointing to an area of the map. “Right, one road in, one road out.”
“And she going to need more ovaries.”
Nick sighed. “I’m living in an alternate universe.” He commented.
Lorelei scoffed. “No, you just have a better understanding of the one we’re in.”
“Well, I better get out there.” Nick said, as he put on his jacket.
Rosalee looked at Monroe. “Nick, we want to go with you.”
Monroe seemed to agree. “This could be the last of a species, man. We need to help them if we can.”
Nick looked at them in disbelief. “The man killed a guy.”
“But the baby is innocent.” Lorelei told him, as she slipped her own jacket on.
Nick didn’t look very happy, but he agreed to let them all come along.
As they were driving up the road in the area where they thought the glühenvolk could be, Nick pulled over alongside a truck with a trailer attached to. “I know that truck. This guy’s been following our glühenvolk.” He said, getting out.
“Why?” Rosalee asked, as they followed him.
“He’s a UF-ologist.” Nick replied. “He may have found them, and I gotta find out.” Nick shone his torch in the window, before knocking on the door.
“Woah, hold on. He might be asleep in there, man.” Monroe said. That didn’t stop Nick as he went to open the door. “Don’t you need a warrant for that?”
Nick dropped his hand. “You’re right. You open it.”
Monroe looked surprised. “Oh…ok.” And he did just that.
They entered and it appeared that no one was home, so to speak. They started looking around, becoming more disturbed as they did. “This is a fleshing knife.” Rosalee said, as she picked it up.
“Um, I don’t think this guy is a UF-ologist.” Monroe commented as he kept looking around.
There appeared to be bullets and bottles of something, along with blood all over the place. “Sauver Sa Peau.” Rosalee breathed quietly.
“Save your skin?” Monroe translated, although it came out as a question.
Nick pulled open a curtain, shining a light on what appeared to be some kind of operating room. “Must mean literally.” Lorelei commented, as she stepped forward to get a closer look.
“If you shot a wesen with this stuff in that bullet.” Rosalee started to say. Lorelei looked at her as Monroe held up a bullet.
“The bullet would kill, ok, but the Sauver Sa Peau would keep him in full woged even after death.”
“Forever?” Nick asked.
“No, this is just temporary. You probably have no more than six or eight hours before you would change back.”
“So, he has to harvest and tan the hide very quickly.” Nick said.
“He does it right here in his trailer.” Rosalee said, shining a light on the some of the instruments hung up.
“This is so wrong.” Monroe said quietly.
“But you would have a perfectly morphed specimen to sell.”
“We better find those glühenvolk before he does.” Lorelei said, looking at the others.
“How?”
“They’re driving a stolen bronco; we didn’t pass one on the road and there was no place to turn off. They’ve got to be ahead of us somewhere.” Nick said, heading towards the door.
“I’m taking these.” Monroe said, as grabbed the bullets containing the Sauver Sa Peau, while Rosalee poured the vial containing it down the sink.
They headed back out in Nick’s truck, and not far down he stopped again, shining the torch out the window. “What are you doing?” Lorelei asked.
“Why are you stopping?” Monroe asked at the same time.
“Nick, do you see something?” Rosalee added, as Nick reversed.
“I think I see a building.” He stopped. “Somebody turned off here. The gates down.” Nick put the brake on and got out. Lorelei and Monroe did as well.
Monroe started scenting the air. “Somebody’s got a fire going.” He said, following his nose. “You smell that?” Monroe knelt, looking at the ground. “There’s only one set of tracks.”
“Somebody went in and didn’t come out.”
“Let’s check it.” Nick said, heading back to his truck. Lorelei and Monroe followed him.
They followed the path down to a cabin and entered it to find a blonde, and heavily pregnant woman. “Oh my god.” She said, as they entered.
Nick crouched down. “Hey, just take it easy ok.”
Rosalee stepped forward. “We’re not going to hurt you, we’re here to help.”
“W-Where is Vincent? What have you done with him?” She demanded.
“We need you to tell us where he is.” Nick told her gently.
She suddenly woged, confirming that she was indeed the pregnant glühenvolk they were looking for. “Don’t hurt me.” She pleaded, no doubt picking up that she was in the presence of a Grimm. “Don’t hurt my baby.”
“Oh my god.” Monroe said softly. “It’s true.”
“You’re beautiful.” Rosalee said.
Lorelei was in awe; she truly was beautiful. She understood though, why those who had seen her partner thought he was an alien.
She woged back. “Stay away from me.” She said, holding out her hand. “You stay away…Ohhh.” She was cut off as a contraction hit her.
“I think she’s going into labour.” Lorelei said, no doubt stating the obvious.
Monroe looked at Nick. “Oh Nick, I think you, uh, put her over the top.”
Rosalee, and then Lorelei approached her slowly. “We need a bunch of stuff…that we don’t have.” Rosalee said, throwing her hands up. The woman mentioned something about the baby coming. Rosalee knelt beside her. “We’re not going to hurt you at all, we’re here to help.” She said, shrugging her jacket off. “You need to roll onto your back.” The woman started to do that. “Oh my god, her water just broke.”
“How much time do we have?” Nick asked.
“Like, none.”
Nick and Monroe looked at each other in a panic. “Uh, I’ve got a first aid kit in my car.” Nick said, before rushing out the door. Monroe watched him do so.
Lorelei cautiously moved into a kneeling position, keeping her hands up. The woman watched her warily. “My name is Lorelei. I mean you and your baby no harm.”
The woman nodded, still looking wary, as Rosalee directed her to keep breathing and for Monroe to hold her head. “We’re gonna have to spread your legs, ok?” Rosalee told her. Rosalee looked at Lorelei. “Lorelei, can you help me please?”
Lorelei nodded and shifted over to her, as Monroe knelt behind the woman. “Ok, just hold my hand. We’ll get through this.” He told her, offering his hand. She took it and from the noise Monroe made, she was holding on hard.
Nick returned with the first aid kit, while Rosalee asked for alcohol wipes for hers and Lorelei’s hands. “I’ll be doing most the work, but just in case I need you to jump in.” Rosalee told Lorelei.
“Ow, ow, ow, ow.” Monroe complained.
“Monroe!”
“She’s, like, breaking my hand.” He defended himself. Rosalee just shook her head.
“I can’t do this.”
“You’re doing just fine.” Rosalee told her. “You’re doing great, just keep breathing. What’s your name?”
“Jocelyn – oh!”
“Ok Jocelyn, I’m Rosalee, this is Monroe, that’s Nick, and Lorelei already introduced herself.” Rosalee said.
“Nice to meet you.” Monroe said, awkwardly.
Rosalee glanced down. “Baby’s crowning.” She said and Lorelei looked as well. Although she immediately wished she hadn’t. Oh my god, who the hell decided birth was a beautiful thing? It looked painful. Jocelyn’s lady parts were being torn apart. “Nick, I’m going to need you to put counter pressure with your hand on the small of her back.”
“Ok.” Nick said, following Rosalee’s orders.
“Lorelei, I need you to hold her leg, help her get some leverage.”
Lorelei nodded and Rosalee turned her attention back to Jocelyn. “We’re gonna push, ok?” Jocelyn nodded and did as told, crying out as she did so. “There we go, good job. Keep going.”
The door opened and a man stepped in calling for Jocelyn. “What are you doing? What’s going on?” He asked.
“Baby’s coming. Get in here.” Lorelei told him.
“We’re, uh, helping, so just join in anytime.” Monroe said.
The man Lorelei was assuming was Vincent almost flew to Jocelyn’s side, taking over for Monroe. “Keep pushing, keep pushing.” Rosalee told Jocelyn.
“You are doing so good Jocelyn, baby’s almost here.” Lorelei said, remembering something she had seen in movies and tv shows.
“Alright, its coming.” Rosalee said. “Here it comes.”
And it did. The baby let out a cry as it entered the world, appearing to be fully woged, the same luminescence as their mother. Rosalee handed the baby over to the parents, as Lorelei and the others looked on in awe. Rosalee had Monroe grab the blanket before covering the baby. “We have a daughter.” Vincent said, happy tears running down his face.
Unfortunately, the happy moment was interrupted by the sound of a gun being cocked. “Yes, we do.” The voice came from a creepy looking guy, who had a shotgun pointed at them. “One big happy family.” Everyone was looking at him, not daring to move. “All I want is what I came for. You don’t have to get hurt, unless you want to.” Vincent and Monroe both woged. “Don’t be stupid.”
“What about me? What am I worth?” Rosalee asked, woging as she stood up.
The man’s eyes widened. “More than a blutbad.”
“What about a Grimm?” Nick asked, standing up.
“Or two Grimms?” Lorelei also stood up, facing the man.
The man looked horrified, but it was enough to distract him as Monroe tackled him through the wall of the cabin. The man got up first and re-entered, only to be met with Nick, holding his gun. Nick fired and the bullet hit him in the stomach. He stumbled backward, falling against the wall.
“How much are you worth?” Rosalee asked him, as Monroe stepped inside. The crying baby reminded them of the other couple. “What do we do with them?”
“What do we do with him?” Monroe asked, referring to the creepy dude, who was still fully woged.
“We gotta get them out of here.” Nick said, referring to Vincent, Jocelyn and the baby.
“Just get as far from here as you can.” Nick told them, once Jocelyn had recovered enough to be moved.
“Thanks for everything you guys did for us.” Vincent said, clearly grateful for the help they provided.
“Where are you headed?” Lorelei asked them.
“There’s a few of us left, in Alaska.” Jocelyn replied, looking down at her baby girl. Lorelei could see the love she had for the child. It was like all the pain was forgotten.
“Good luck.” Rosalee told them.
“And no more cows, guys.” Monroe called after them, as they got in the hunter’s truck.
Vincent helped Jocelyn and the baby into the passenger side, before moving to the driver’s seat. “Thanks again.”
Nick, Monroe, Rosalee and Lorelei watched as they drove away. “Do you think they found that guy?” Monroe asked.
Nick looked at his watch. “Should be there soon.” He said. “Hopefully before the drugs wear off.”

So, what are the original cast up to in my sequel fic? Well this post will explain just that!
Renard has retired as the police captain and spends most of his time keeping an eye on the wesen in Portland and acting as a Prince, with Diana helping him. They fix a lot of wesen based problems, and if they can’t they direct it to Kelly and Hazel who are private investigators, and of course if it gets to the point of murder, Hank, Nick and Wu will handle it.
Speaking of those 3, Hank took over as the captain and Wu got promted to detective and Nick is his partner.
Nick and Adalind are now married, and Adalind started her own law firm where she deals with wesen related cases specifically.
Hank adopted his neice after her parents died in a car crash and she’s about the same age as Selene (21). Her name is Ava and she loves her uncle a lot. She is also aware of wesen, but doesn’t get too involved with that.
Wu is single with 2 cats and living his best life.
Monroe and Rosalee are still running the Spice Shop with the help of their son, Freddy, and often with their grandaughter, Iris.
Trubel and Eve started travelling helping out wesen as they go and keeping an eye on the activities of the Royals in America.
And last but not least since I love him, Bud has his repairs business which he runs with the help of his children.
