fic where buck follows eddie to el paso, ostensibly to help him get settled, and then doesn’t leave. and doesn’t leave. also his name is on the deed. also he picked the new tile for the kitchen backsplash. also at some point they started kissing on the mouth
Thinking again about the line “Come on, I know you watch [telenovelas] with Christopher”. One of a few things are implied by that:
Eddie told Buck about that thinking he wouldn’t tell
Eddie accidentally let it slip to Buck
Buck is so casually present in the Diaz home that they could just be watching tv while he’s over (he does his thing in their house while they do theirs and all just act like they live there)
Buck lets himself in so often that he just caught them one time.
one of my favorite things about the Buddie dynamic is the way their characters reflect past vs future
like Buck is always looking towards the future and worrying about how he can improve and what the rest of his life will look like and who will be in his life in the future, he takes his past and used it to pave the way to better versions of himself and tries to grow into a new person for his future self, he is open to new things in order to allow himself to have this growth
but Eddie is distinctly tied to his past in the way that everything that happened to him and the people he loved constantly come back to plague his insecurities and thoughts and he is always thinking about what happened and prevents himself from moving forward due to the blocks from his past and also treats everything that happened to him as a life lesson, he has his guard up constantly in order to prevent repeated mistakes and disappointments to himself and those he loves
so in a way they are perfect parallels of each other and would balance one another out
if they use the shooting as eddie’s oh moment in the show, i’m going to lose my mind because like. when he got shot in afghanistan, it brought him home in the literal sense. and the placement of this bullet, how it’s directly across from the first one like a mirror, if they use it as the thing that gives him clarity about who he wants, as the thing that brings him home again...
Random headcanon #1
Eddie hates cufflinks. He thinks they are fiddly and confusing. (even though "they are like the most simple contraptions in existence, Eddie.")
eddie diaz is so funny. buck has been seriously baking as a hobby for like a week and he’s out here calling him a master baker. he hasn’t even tasted the bread pudding yet mind you he just has complete and total faith in the development of buck’s craft. if the next day buck said he was writing a novel eddie would immediately start cold calling literary agents for him
buck losing his mind because after like five years of going over to the diaz house suddenly eddie is never wearing pants at home anymore and his thighs and his leg hair and his mole and his dick print are all just right there all the time and fuck buck is really for real into men, isn’t he? and eddie diaz is—well. whatta man
