Gritty is Pretty

Artvoice recently created this article on Eddy Dobosiewicz's Forgotten Buffalo tours. Dobosiewicz, famous for his character Maxwell Truth on the nationally televised late-night TV show, Off-Beat Cinema. Dobosiewicz takes reporters, performers, and tourists around Buffalo to the city's off-the-beaten path attractions away from the typical local attractions. Dobosiewicz says that those who take his alternative tour get to experience a much more authentic side of the city stating:

“Buffalo has a real industrial, gritty, American story to tell. Buffalo’s story is America’s story.”

Buffalo's City Hall

For those who liked the model of City Hall yesterday this video from 2012 gives a brief overview of the impressive building. Buffalo City Hall was one of the most expensive municipal buildings in the nation and the video highlights just a taste of the breath-taking attention to detail that is found around the entire building. Classical elements did find its way into the art deco structure including columns, friezes, and murals. The video was created by Preservation Buffalo Niagara to promote their free tours of City Hall.

Buffalo Grain Elevators

This largely unseen video by exception722 uses a Panasonic HPX300 AVCIntra 720P 4.2.2 HD to capture a somber view of the abandoned Buffalo Grain Elevators. Somber music plays as the camera continually refocuses on the ghost-like structures giving a post-apocalyptic chill invoking both eeriness and beauty. The video is good, but why not take a tour of the structures invented in Buffalo in 1843.
