I don’t get the hate for Last Jedi. It made sense to me and I liked how Rey developed. And Luke’s conclusion felt like an appropriate passing of the torch, like Obi-Wan did for him.

I’m not the best person to talk about TLJ since I actually haven’t seen the movie. Though from what I’ve heard I probably wouldn’t have liked it. If you did that’s cool, you do you. But to many fans of the OT thought Luke’s character was butchered and wasn’t satisfied with the Rey's development. That’s their POV of it.

Sorry I can’t give you a proper discussion, but I’d rather not watch the movie myself in order to give a full opinion.

I don’t know if this was already discussed when Rose was revealed as PD, but one detail that makes me wonder how others didn’t know came to mind. It’s implied Gems can identify Gems just by looking at their gem, like when Bismuth is in the bubble room.

Well, Bismuth knew those Gems and thus was able to identify them by sight as you would seeing a good friend across a room, but when a Gem isn’t aware of a Gem type, they can’t, as shown in “Warp Tour” where neither Garnet or Pearl know who Peridot is. From a Homeworld perspective, all Gems of a type are nearly identical and so if you’ve seen one, you can identify any others you see.

I think that if Rose were poofed and they were able to see her gem in its entirety, they would be able to identify her as Pink Diamond, but as Rose Quartz her gem was turned to look identical to a Quartz’s and so there was no reason to suspect she wasn’t one (not to mention it just being unfathomable to even consider Pink was in disguise much less doing so to wage a war against herself, so like one would have to make a lot of unlikely assumptions to even begin to guess they were actually the same person)
