2. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Annabel and I'm in the twenties club. I hail from the far reaches of New Zealand, a place every bit as green and beautiful they tell you. I’m technically a lawyer, though recently I retired at the ripe old age of 24 and ran away to Australia. Beyond examining the intricacies of my existential crisis, I’m a competitive rower. I also really like bagels.
3. What do you never leave home without?
I suppose my phone...depressing though that is. I wish I could at least say, like, my keys - if only to imply I can live a fulfilling life without my phone - but I locked myself out of my apartment twice last week. So that would be a lie.
4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Extra early bird. The kind that loves to hate getting up at 6am every morning to do a 20km training row before second breakfast.
5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?
I’m still waiting for my letter. I remain convinced my Owl just got a little lost on the way to New Zealand. There’s still time, though.
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.
Lorde. In the supermarket, back when she was still New Zealand’s best kept secret.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
I will never get tired of watching Friends. It’s the ultimate comfort for me. I also have a high level of appreciation for Girls, and I do like some Parks and Rec.
I really like the familiarity and continuity of watching a series. As such, I don’t watch very many movies, but some favourites include Mistress America and Silver Linings Playbook.
I just like things that feel real.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
Haim ❤️ Fleetwood Mac and John Mayer. Drake! I also like Kodaline, particularly their album In a Perfect World. I went to see Adele in March. It was the very last night of her tour and it rained torrentially. I was probably the least dry I have ever been in my entire life, but setting fire to the rain in a downpour was a glorious thing.
9. Favorite Books?
From a place of nostalgia, Harry Potter. Such a quintessential part of my childhood. Beyond that, I try to read quite broadly. I have one particular favourite that isn’t really representative of my preferred genre, but caters well to my particularly dry sense of humour - How to Be Good, by Nick Hornby.
10. Favorite Food?
Pancakes.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
When people walk extra slowly and take up the entire footpath and won’t let me pass.
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
As a child, I apparently professed wanting to be a writer. I used to think that was because some well-meaning adult told me that was what I wanted and I just believed them. But of late, I’ve wondered if perhaps I did actually dream that up myself.
I have since learned an affinity for writing can easily translate to a career in law, be that accidental or intentional. What is less easy is working out a more enjoyable alternative - I’m conscious running away to Australia is not a long term solution.
13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?
Failure. Regression toward the mean. Refreshing websites everyday for the rest of my life! Talking on the phone. All of these are the kind of inconvenient fears that will infiltrate and taint every aspect of your life if you let them.
More tangibly speaking, e a r t h q u a k e s. I feel like, statistically speaking, one is not likely to experience more than one major seismic event in a lifetime, but that doesn’t make going back to what’s left of my hometown any easier.
14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one thing you’d regret not doing?
Anything I avoided out of fear of failure. See, it’s a vicious cycle!
For anyone else suffering this particular plight, I recommend reading/viewing The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination by JK Rowling.
Okay… lets talk about your writing!
15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
I’ve only written one story thus far, and it’s called Something to Tell You.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
Well I have nothing to compare it to, but did struggle with writing Something to Tell You. Looking back, I kind of attribute that to the lack of plot. I wanted the characters to undergo reasonable change, but not in an especially dramatic way, and I didn't want it to be overshadowed by their circumstances. It was a hard balance to find.
I received mixed feedback about this particular aspect of the story. Many people liked the simplicity, but equally there were those that thought I rambled on for 20 chapters and that “nothing happened”. I appreciate there is no such thing as universal popularity, and having overcome the struggle of actually writing it I am now content with how everything unfolded.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
Something to Tell You was founded heavily in experiences I had living with a group of friends who were every bit as quirky and interesting as the characters I tried to portray. I suppose I tend to write about what I know. I’ve largely made peace with that, but do worry it is fairly limiting and a somewhat insular approach.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
Anything from Something to Tell You Jughead’s point of view. The entire story revolves around Betty not really knowing quite what to make of him, and his character is a construct of that to the extent that I just cannot find his voice.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
Clunky chapters. There were a few of them, but I’m not going to go back and look for them because it’s bad for my #complexes.
The Flowers and The Cheesecakes, and that’s largely because it was fun for me to write. It was also based on true events, memories of which evoke the best kind of nostalgia.
21.Favorite character to write?
Betty Cooper. It’s not too much of a stretch for me to see the world through her eyes.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
“He trades in intellect and wit.”
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
When I started writing, it never really occurred to me that people would a) read it, b) like it or c) tell me so. Honestly, all your kind words make my heart sing. I've never been able to bring myself to actually read Something to Tell You in full, but I do go back and read your comments!
Those who reached out via private message to tell me how much Betty’s struggles meant to them were really special. I never expected that kind of a response, and was somewhat overwhelmed by it.
More specifically, I still remember and refer back to a comment by the lovely @village-skeptic, who I remain convinced understands my characters far better than I do. Below is an extract -
“Your version of this character is so multi-layered and distinctive, and yet it makes me think - this is what "I'm weird; I'm a weirdo" looks like without canon-Jughead's precise complications of self-loathing, trauma, deprivation, and precarity (or maybe with other off-setting factors?). It's just being quirky af, but also forthrightly kind, confident, ambitious, perceptive, and also part of a community.”
Sometimes I wish @village-skeptic was my high school English teacher.
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
By refusing to ‘reblog Bughead’ and rearranging all of Veronica’s furniture.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
I try not to think this way, again because #complexes… but the first chapter of Something to Tell You. The one where nothing of substance really happened, because I truly didn’t think anyone was going to read it. Thanks to everyone who set aside that very obvious flaw and persisted.
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
I’m going to be optimistic and say I hope it will be something I write in the future. My magnum opus, or something.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
I’m heavily invested in Vespertine by @yavannies, it’s absolutely wonderful. Please go and read it and leave a comment - I’m a big believer in always thanking the author for their efforts.

28. Do you have any advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
What is is that you're scared of?
I don't at all mean that to be dismissive - quite the contrary. I entertained a lifelong fear of writing before sitting down to write Something to Tell You. I was scared of expectations and judgement (be them real or imagined, my own or those of others).
I am still scared of both of these things, but I have also discovered that anonymity is wonderfully liberating. It allows you to write whatever you want, whenever you want. The more you do it, the easier it gets. And as long as you write for yourself, you can’t really go wrong.
Also, believe me when I say that people are wonderfully nice around here.

I am a 32 year old social worker from Australia who enjoys writing in my spare time. I also love reading, colouring, photography and painting. I adore cats and have two of my own.
3. What do you never leave home without?
My keys or phone.
4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I HATE early mornings, I was a complete night owl in my younger days but cannot manage much past about 1.00am these days. But definitely more of a night owl than an early bird.
5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?
Not really a fictional world as such but I would love to work in the Brooklyn 99 office, it looks like a hoot.
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.
I have not really met any famous people. The closest I have gotten is meeting the hosts of a gaming show that used to air over here, until it got cancelled. I got completely tongue tied and nervous so it is probably a good thing that I haven’t met anyone famous. Would probably just embarrass myself.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
TV: Riverdale (obvs), American Gods, The Handmaid’s Tale, Brooklyn 99, Broadchurch, Misfits, Game of Thrones and Utopia (UK).
Movies: The Lobster, Inception, The Batman Trilogy (Nolan), The Breakfast Club, Stardust, Some Kind of Wonderful, and my guilty pleasure Shaft.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
Nothing But Thieves, Temper Trap, Birds of Tokyo, End of Fashion, Years and Years, Muse, HAIM, Peking Duk.
9. Favorite Books?
The Stand by Stephen King, We Were Liars by E.Lockhart, The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, The Lunar Chonicles by Marissa Myer and The Girl With All The Gifts by M.R Carey ,
10. Favorite Food?
Burgers, I love a good burger and will travel great distance for one if need be. For sweet stuff it would be trifle.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
People being late. Drives me crazy. Worse is when you are getting a lift with the late person and you just wish they would hurry their ass up.
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
I wanted to be a lawyer and on reflection I would have been a terrible one. The job I am doing now is the job I wanted when I first graduated from university and I am very lucky to get to do my job every day. Even though sometimes I feel completely drained and hate it.
13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?
I am scared of clowns. Petrfied, which my co-workers think is hilarious. Last time I went on leave I came back to hidden pictures scattered around my desk, in my files and in the work car. They are evil, evil people. I don’t think it is a strange fear. Being afraid of clowns is 100% justified. I am currently worried everytime I go to the cinema that they will show a trailer for IT which I have so far managed to avoid no matter how many times YouTube or Facebook tries to get me to watch it.
14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one you’d regret not doing?
Not travelling the world when I was younger and did not have adult commitments. I wish I hadn’t been quite so focused on my education of career in the search for stability and just lived a little more before I sort of settled.
Okay… lets talk about your writing!
15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
It is such a hard, hard, choice, I love most of them for different reasons. Although I look back at some of my earlier fics and cringe a little. I think my favourite would be The Social Worker AU series as it is something that is fun, has a lot of my real world experiences in it and is the closest to my heart.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
What Fools These Mortals Be, has definitely been my biggest challenge writing wise. Writing a multichapter is so daunting and trying to keep the plot straight in my head as well as getting stuck while writing has been really hard. Thankfully I have my beta @jandjsalmon to keep me on the straight and narrow and help me work through the plot stumbling blocks. Also the angst in this story has driven my crazy and seemingly taken on a life of it’s own.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
I get a lot of ideas for stories while driving in my car, which is a little inconvenient at times ‘cause there is no where to write down the ideas. I also love accepting prompts as it challenges me to write something that I normally wouldn’t or to interpret the prompt in a way that is specific to me.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
I have always, always wanted to write a supernatural AU but don’t think I would be capable of providing enough back story or develop the world in such a way that it would be believable or interesting to the reader.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
Writing a Betty that is romantically interested in Archie has been hell. Everytime I write a chapter for What Fools These Mortals be if there is a delay it is usually because I am stuck trying to write a Betty/Archie scene. They are not my fave to write.
The first kiss between Betty and Jughead in my The After Party fic. I had not written a kissing scene is so long and I felt that this one really turned out well and that the tension between the two and their perspectives were well captured.
21.Favorite character to write?
Um, Kevin!!! I love Kevin so, so, so much and he is a lot of fun to write. I love the snarky, yet helpful loving best friend and for me this is Kevin. If there is an opportunity for me to include him in a Bughead story he will be there.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
This comes from a recent one shot that I wrote called Let It Burn:
“She would threaten to leave him again and Jughead just prayed that she loved him enough to take him with her.”
This is some foreshadowing of Gladys leaving the Jones family and only taking JB with her. I think the idea of this past version of Jughead questioning his mum’s love for him and care feeds into what happens on the show and I just thought it was kind of powerful in that way.
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
This was recently from @Wescorehearts, she said that my writing made her feel better and I think that really really touched me, to think that my writing could actually make someone feel better is a real honour. There is also a reviewer on Ao3 called Verklempt who most times will comment on my stories but I have no idea who they are. But their reviews always make me laugh. So just in case they see this, Thanks.
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I’ve never actually had one. But I suppose it depends on if it someone just being nasty for the sake of it or whether it is constructive and a well thought out opinion. In that case I would just acknowledge their opinion, thank them for it and if I can learn from it I would do so. I have had a few comments where an editing mistake has been pointed out which is really helpful cause I do a lot of my own editing and so then I can go back and fix it.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
Hmm I think I probably wouldn’t have written the epilogue After the After Party. I did really like where that story finished originally but I had a plot bunny that wouldn’t let go but when I re-read that story I just feel it doesn’t fit so well with the original story.
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
This is such a hard, hard choice and I think it changes depending on my mood. But I think I would have to say The After Party.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
Fanfiction: (I am so behind on my fanfiction reading it is ridiculous, and I keep finding and losing new stories but here are a few that I am subscribed to)

Don’t be scared. This is honestly the most supportive fandom that I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Everyone is so supportive of each other and helping each other improve and be proud of their work. Plus if you never try you never know.

My name is Emily. I live in Pittsburgh, PA and I’m going to school online for my Master’s degree in Archives and Records Administration. I’ve been reading fanfiction since I was probably 11 or 12 and writing since I was 16. I’ve got two puppers and two cats :D
3. What do you never leave home without?
My phone and purse I guess hah.
4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
A night owl that’s forced to be an early bird for work. I’d much rather stay up late and sleep in!
5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?
Hmmm, this is going to sound super nerdy, but Star Trek. I’d love to explore space and the future isn’t so bleak in that fictional world.
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.
Phil Mickelson, who is apparently a really famous golfer? He came into the Walgreens I worked at and bought a bunch of travel sized items while he was staying in town for The Open and it wasn’t until he left that someone told me who he was.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
Oh, man. For TV: Riverdale, obviously. The Office, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, Lucifer, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Stranger Things, Speechless, Friends, Community.
Movies: There’s too many to list but my ultimate favorite is Newsies.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
Marianas Trench, Breaking Benjamin, Childish Gambino, The Lumineers, Arctic Monkeys, Brandi Carlile to name just a few 😊
9. Favorite Books?
Harry Potter, The Chanters of Tremaris Series, The League Series, The Immortals After Dark Series, The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, Alpha and Omega, and the Mercy Thompson Series (I could literally go on forever)
10. Favorite Food?
Probably fries. I could eat them all day every day.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
When people don’t use their turn signals!
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
I actually wanted to be an actress when I was younger. But, now I’m working towards being an Archivist (and maybe a fiction writer on the side!) and it’s such a big difference from when I was a kid.

Biggest fears are spiders and losing loved ones. I don’t think I have any strange fears haha

I still have time to do a lot of things so I can’t really answer this!

15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
Carry On, which is the only fic I have so far written for the fandom but I have a few other ideas rolling around in my head!

N/A, I guess 😊
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
Carry On was born out of one scene in particular and it kind of got away from me. Pretty much anything can inspire me. A certain line from a movie, or tv show, or through poetry. I have a very eclectic taste in music so I do get a lot of inspiration from that as well.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
It sounds awful, but for a while I debated on how I could work in a year of Jughead’s life spent as a prisoner in Penelope Blossom’s basement where she tortured him for FP turning in her husband. But, it didn’t work and it wasn’t plausible or in character for Penelope.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
I hate putting Juggie through so much hell. It feels awful, but it makes the story so good. haha
Chapter 10 – Heathens, the first half with Carlos :D
21.Favorite character to write?
Definitely Jughead. He’s just a fantastic character all around.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
“You look like the child of FP and my mother.” She breathed out, staring at the light, honey waves and realizing she preferred his darker hair color. It was unsettling, too, to think of him in a brotherly way when the feelings he gave her were definitely not sibling-like feelings.
Jughead chuckled, “That will definitely give Riverdale more gossip.” He shook his hair out and ran a hand through it, “Is this enough Clark Kent-ing? Or should I get some glasses, too?”
Laughing at the phrase, she bit her lip and tilted her head at him, "If Hannah Montana can get away with just blonde, so can you."
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
Literally, any comment that tells me their favorite line in the chapter or quotes something I wrote back to me. I love how my written words get others so happy and excited for what’s to come!
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I don’t remember the last time I’ve gotten a bad review or comment, but I’d really just take it as criticism and just use it to improve my writing.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
Ahh, I can’t think of anything I’m sorry!! I usually don’t post a chapter until I’m sure everything is perfect!
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
I’ve written a lot of Newsies fanfiction over on ff.net and I have a soft spot for each and every one of them but one of my absolute best pieces of writing has GOT to be Numb: Redux, which is a Newsies OC/Spot Conlon fic. It still needs an Epilogue, but it’s just…I don’t know. A piece of writing I’m so incredibly proud of.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
General fiction, I’m reading the Winston Brothers romance series by Penny Reid and if anyone ever picks it up let me just say that book 3 called Beard Science has a main character named Jennifer that is literally exactly like Betty.
Fanfiction- I’m reading far too many to list them all. But, I’d definitely recommend Serpent and the Swan by @jugandbettsdetectiveagency, heart rise above by @onceuponamirror, & Summer Storm by @lazydaizies
28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
I’m one of the shyest, most introverted people you will ever meet irl but I still put my writing out there and honestly, it’s gained me so many wonderful friends and people who share a love of something that we don’t honestly find every day in our real lives. Take a chance, you won’t regret it!

2. Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Vera, I’m from Greece and I’m currently on the 23rd decade of my life. I’m a Classical Studies graduate and I’m considering doing a Master’s too. I’m a major foodie, a fashion and style enthusiast, an avid dancer and an old school rock lover. A quite sarcastic human being trying to make it in this world with the attitude of your average clown-friend.
3. What do you never leave home without?
Probably my phone, as true to our 21st century standards. Plus, my headphones and my sunglasses.
4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I’m a night owl for sure. I hate early mornings and I love sleep but I also can never go to bed before 2 or 3 am.
5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?
I would want to live in the Pokémon world or the Harry Potter universe but during the Marauders era. Witty and utterly smitten James Potter, rebel with a cause Sirius Black, the First Wizarding War, this is a true fantasy right there that I’ll never ever outgrow.
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
There are a lot of Greek people that you guys, obviously, won’t know. Not many international celebrities in my resume, I’m afraid. But I briefly chatted and took a picture with Jim Chapman from YouTube while I was visiting London two years ago.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
I enjoy a lot of different movie genres but I guess an old Hollywood one, some good old Hitchcock or anything drama are my typical choices most times. Out of the top of my head, definitely Gone with The Wind, Casablanca, Pulp Fiction, The Breakfast Club and such. As for TV shows, Lost is always first in my heart. Current favorites would be Sense8, Stranger Things, Westworld, Riverdale.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
That’s a question that would take me pages to answer. Long story short, I’m a cultural chaos regarding music. I listen to almost everything, my Spotify has a tone of personal playlists and my vinyl collection is reaching a terrifying extend. My favorite genre is definitely classic rock but I also really love alternative rock, indie rock, and rock ‘n’ roll. On an average day, I’m usually blasting something along the lines of The 1975, then Pink Floyd, then Frank Sinatra, then Tchaikovsky, then Kanye West, then The Killers and so on and it’s a miracle that I still manage to stay a somewhat sane person.
9. Favorite Books?
Anything Jane Austen, Bronte Sisters or Dostoyevsky can get me going. But for the level of angst and devotion and truly wicked love my favorite one is Wuthering Heights.
10. Favorite Food?
Chicken curry with rice. I also really love shrimps.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
Probably people that chew very loudly. Or ignorant and uneducated people, not in the academic sense of the word, but ill-mannered and rude.
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
For many years I wanted to be an architect. This plan though sunk because my sketching skills are equivalent of a two year old. So, I ended up studying the Classics (basically the study of the Greco-Roman world, particularly of its languages and literature, but also including philosophy, history, and archaeology.) This field and area of studies is something I very much enjoy and value but I don’t really see it as my lifetime job. What fascinates me and makes me passionate about is Journalism so I’m thinking about extending my studies in the journalistic field as well. And then of course there is writing; the ultimate dream.
13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?
I’m scared of wasps, only because I’m allergic to a lot of things and, seriously, I don’t wanna push my luck. Another one would be my odd phobia of getting nauseous and being sick. For some weird reason I associate vomiting with death. Other strange fears, no, nothing comes to mind. As for more fundamental ones, it’s the fear of ending up alone; loneliness is something that scares me deeply. Also, disappointing my inner perfectionist by being average or not good enough at any aspect of my life.
14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one you’d regret not doing?
Live more. I have a very composed and rational mentality, I always think first and then act and generally I’m more of an observer than a doer. I regret, for example, not being a crazier teenager or a more reckless college student or generally a little bit more “loose”. Hopefully, my introverted self will stop watching stoically life passing her by and take more chances by the time I reach that final moment, haha.
Okay… let’s talk about your writing!
15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
Where The Wild Roses Grow – Angst is the air I breathe, enough said.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
Up until now I used to write only Bughead prompts and one-shots so, plot wise, I can’t think of any of them causing me too much headache. I could say Fruit Punch Lips & Leather Jacket Dreams, only because of the length of the chapters and the hurricane of ideas I had in my mind. Right now I’m trying my hand at my first multi-chaptered fic for the Bughead fandom and I can definitely say that it is proving to be quite the task in terms of planning and prioritizing.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
For me, it’s mostly TV and movies. I always make parallels between plotlines and couples so a lot of ideas do come from stuff that I have seen on the big screen or during a marathon of an old show. But they also come from everyday life, I mean I could be discussing something with my best friend or doing groceries or driving and something along the way would strike me and demand from me to write it on paper.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
I really really wanted (and still want, to be honest) to write a Dancing With The Stars Bughead fic. I know it’s crazy and totally random but the idea had stuck in my head while I was watching some dancing videos on YouTube and instantly I had everything planned; the roles, the plot, the dancing sessions, the choreographies, the drama, everything. I gave up on the idea merely because it’s quite difficult to portray such show on paper and I was afraid that the scenes in my head would turn out totally different if I attempted to write them, so I’ll treasure this story in my heart and think fondly about it whenever I listen to a song I had picked for a Bughead dance-off. But you never know; maybe my muse will be more confident about helping me give life to this idea in the future.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
I wouldn’t say it’s my least favorite but I don’t feel very confident about Heliophilia, the second chapter of Fruit Punch Lips & Leather Jacket Dreams. There are a lot of things that I like in the chapter obviously, but I find the beginning a tad cheesy and then at the part with Betty’s and Jughead’s date I believe that I just ramble on and on with no purpose whatsoever. I was very inspiration-deprived while working on that chapter so, to me at least, it feels like not my best work.
Jughead raised as a Serpent in my latest fic. I like the dynamic the gang element gives to his character and I really wanted to explore it in my own little universe. It just adds another layer to his personality and diverse characters are always the most fun to work with. Also, #GirlNextDoor was very fun to write. Being in Jughead’s shoes as an accomplished writer and envisioning future Bughead in their own adult apartment had me overwhelmed with lovely feelings.
21. Favorite character to write?
Jughead, for sure. Maybe because I relate more to his quite nature or maybe it’s the fact that I appreciate the writer in him and his old soul, which are again qualities that I have too as a person. He has so much potential as a character, so many layers to peel off. Yeah, Jughead Jones is a delight for me to write.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
I don’t think I have something specific in mind. If I go back and read any of my stories, I always find something that I feel pretty confident about, either that’s a sentence or a whole paragraph. I guess that’s why it takes me so long to update; I always check and double-check and reread and erase and add until I feel positive that what I’m putting out is something I’m quite satisfied to present to all of you. That and the fact that me, a Victor Hugo wannabe, doesn’t know the usage and the importance of a full stop!
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
Every single one. Literally. The fact that somebody takes the time to write even a single “great work” means the world. Yes, the long, commentary-like reviews are always an extra delight; every author would agree on that, because, we love receiving feedback that shows the emotion and the reaction our words brought to each reader. It’s very direct and on-point. But even just a thumb’s up or an incoherent array of vowels can literally make my day!
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I’m one of the fortunate ones that never got any bad reviews or hate comments. I hope it stays that way because, on a good day, my confidence as a writer (and as a person in general) is beneath zero! But constructive criticism is always welcomed and wanted.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
The occasional typos! They drive me nuts, I hate them and I hate myself for them. Also, I’d like to remind myself to put a damn full stop every once in a while, not only a plethora of commas in insanely long sentences!
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
I was very into Spaleb (Spencer and Caleb from Pretty Little Liars) for as much as it lasted and, amongst a few other stories, I’ve written an one-shot titled The First Cup of Coffee about the four times Spencer gets the first cup of coffee in the morning and a fifth that she realizes she wants Caleb to have that privilege. Basically, it’s five snapshots of their life together and the growth of their relationship through the years and I really enjoyed writing it and generally envisioning a future about that couple. I also had a great time writing about Klaus and Caroline from The Vampire Diaries. But none of my previous fanfiction experiences amounts to the utter excitement and joy writing for Bughead fills me with.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
Fanfiction wise, I need a lot of catching up to do. I have so many fics that I either want to continue or start reading and so little time but I’m getting there. It’s personal at this point! As for general fiction, I’m reading Uncle Vanya by Chekhov and some various poetry.
28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
Just write. Open a plain document and write. Write whatever you have in that brilliant head of yours, write what you would read if you were about to search between genres and plotlines. Don’t think about note numbers or people’s reaction; just write what your heart desires and your muse urges you too. If you enjoy what you write then, trust me, everyone is going to enjoy it too. Don’t doubt yourself and don’t try to change your style or adjust to any norms you might consider as successful. Writing is personal, a kind of identity, and it’s unique and mesmerizing so proudly present your own identity to the world. Also, be sure to support your fellow writers. We are all a team here, a group of people that enjoy the same passion, and love and recognition is always a must. So applaud your fellow Buggies and applaud yourself for everything that you put out in this fandom, either that is a 40k fic or just a fifty-word paragraph. What you write matters and it might change somebody’s day. So share it and never second-guess yourself.

I’m on the far side of 30 and I’ve had the same tumblr avatar since 2011. I gave up trying to pretend to be cool in my junior year of college, when I got drunk at a party and spent the rest of the evening yelling at people in iambic pentameter.
3. What do you never leave home without?
Just the usual boring stuff--wallet, keys, phone.
4. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Kind of both, actually? Which is a problem, because I don’t do well on minimal sleep.
5. If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?
I suppose Harry Potter, but only because I can’t think of a better answer.
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
Anthony Hopkins?
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
Oh my god, so many. TV: Parks and Rec, obviously. Recently: GLOW, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, GoT, Better Call Saul, Fargo, BoJack Horseman...I watch a lot of TV.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
I don’t keep up, honestly. My iPod is perpetually full of late ‘60s/early ‘70s rock.
9. Favorite Books?
AS Byatt, Persuasion; Michael Chabon, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay; Margaret Atwood, Atlas Grace; Hanya Yanagahira, The People in the Trees; this list could go on for pages and pages so I’ll wind it down with my favorites from the Classics Shelf, Pride and Prejudice and Anna Karenina
10. Favorite Food?
The one thing I’ll almost never turn down is sharp white Cheddar cheese, so we’ll go with that.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
Noisy eaters.
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
I wanted to be either Pablo Picasso or an astronaut. Neither of those quite worked out.
13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?
I don’t think I have any strange fears. I’m averse to very large spiders and creepy deep sea creatures, but I’m not exactly afraid of either. I would just prefer to not look at them or be near them.
14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one thing you’d regret not doing?
I do hope I’ve published a book by the time I die.

15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
I haven’t written all that many, but I’ll say all the roads we have to walk.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
Same answer. It’s really the only one that has a (long) plot, though.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for your fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
They usually just arrive in my brain. all the roads came from my desire to read a fic of Jughead also being at Betty’s internship, and I couldn’t find one, so I started writing it--but before I got to the starting point of that one, I wanted a detailed prequel that I couldn’t find, so I wrote that too.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
I’ve been able to make most of my ideas work eventually. It just takes time and effort.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
Hmm. There are a few moments I wish I’d written a little differently, but more in the sense that I didn’t choose the right words. I’m sticking by all the plot points I’ve written.
For Riverdale, I think it’s the New Year’s Eve video call at the end of chapter 3 of for the life of me.
21.Favorite character to write?
All-time, it’s probably Ben Wyatt. But for this fandom, I enjoy Betty and Jughead equally. I feel like my favorite other character to write is Veronica, but I’ve barely written any Veronica--so Cheryl, maybe? Jughead’s mom has been a fun exercise, but since we haven’t actually seen her on the show, she feels almost like an OC to me.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
This is my favorite passage, I think, which is from Chapter 4 of for the life of me:
One day towards the end of January, as they stand up to leave the cafeteria after lunch, Betty Cooper fixes her eyes on him, squints, and tilts her head.
“Mustard?” he asks. He resists swiping at his face only because he’s holding a plastic tray of flabbergasting detritus.
(He hasn’t eaten anything with mustard on it.)
“No.”
“Then what?”
(Ketchup, crumbs, giant hole in his shirt, he’s bleeding profusely from an unknown orifice, he’s developed a second head?)
“I think you got taller,” she says, thoughtfully.
Huh.
“What, like since we sat down?”
Betty makes the noise he’s noticed her making a lot lately. It’s a little laugh that’s somewhere between a snort and a chuckle but is definitely neither one of those things, and he cannot figure out a single word to describe it.
“See you in English, Jug.”
She’s right, he realizes later. He’s only about two inches shorter than Archie now, instead of four.
And that’s all it is in the end. He’s not a black hole collapsing in on himself while consuming every object within his gravitational pull. He’s just having one cosmic-joke-level inconveniently timed growth spurt.
(Which Betty Cooper noticed before he did.)
But my favorite single line is this, from Kevin trying to convince Betty to buy a more adventurous wardrobe: “Fine.” He throws up his hands. “Be that way. Keep dressing like a permanent tribute to the 2012 J. Crew Easter collection.”
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
I always appreciate when people say something I’ve written has personally resonated with them, or given them all the feels, that kind of thing. I also love when someone points out a subtle detail that I wasn’t sure anyone was going to notice, since I generally try to live by the show-don’t-tell rule of storytelling. Or “I just found this and stayed up all night to binge the whole thing.”
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I don’t know that I’ve ever really gotten any. Sometimes I’ll get a comment and I can’t tell whether the author actually liked what I wrote, to which I usually just thank them for reading.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
Listen, literally every time I read anything over, I find at least three sentences I could have written better.
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
Well, this is going to make me sound like a crazy person, but I once wrote a fairly epic one-shot RPF of the Parks and Rec fandom pulling off a jewel heist. It had about 30 people/characters (because Andy Dwyer and a few characters from VEEP also showed up), and it was completely insane, and I don’t think I’ll ever hit that level of magic again.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
General fiction: I just started Octavia Butler’s Seed novels. Fan fiction: I’m living for @lessoleilscouchants’ (my youth ain’t) tangled up in bad decisions, @onceuponamirror’s Heart Rise Above, @christah88’s Don’t Drink the (Maple) Water, and @cooperjones2020 Second City (as of this writing, I’m behind on reviewing those last three! I promise I will once I finish my chapter draft!)
28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
Just do it! But before you do it, do your very very best to have your spelling, grammar, and formatting tip-top, because getting those things wrong are often turnoffs for readers.
If you’re nervous about posting or getting constructive criticism, ask someone to beta for you. Most writers, me included, are honored to be asked to beta and will do it when we have the time.
Be involved in the fandom. Leave comments on other people’s stories. Leave friendly messages in other people’s tumblr inboxes! Write meta commentary for scenes or characters and post that.

I have to wake up early for work (6am-ish depending on where we’re staying) but I’m more or a night owl.

That’s quite hard so I may just copout and say Riverdale. Everyone who lives there is insanely hot.
6. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met.
An actor called Bobby Davro but my parents are much more interesting, they both knew Mother Teresa and they’ve met royals too.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
I’m much more of a TV show watcher. Riverdale (obviously), NCIS (but I stopped watching when Ziva left), NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI: New York, Miami and Vegas, Castle, Friends, The Goldbergs, How to Get Away with Murder, Only Fools and Horses, Are You Being Served? The list is endless.
8. What are some of your favorite bands/musicians?
My music taste varies from Grime to Rock to Pop and I like a lot of 80’s music. Favorite artists that I’ve seen live are Halsey, 5 Seconds of Summer, Little Mix.
9. Favorite Books?
Anything by James Patterson.

Italian hands down.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
People that chew with their mouths open.
12. What did you want to be when you were little? What do you want to be now?
A police officer.

gone and demons. Both of which are very personal and in a way, it felt good to write about things.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
Betty’s a serpent. It was the first multi-fic I did and the response to Chapter 1 was insane, I was terrified about continuing it and I kept dragging it on because I didn’t really know where I wanted it to go. It took a lot of research over things like the marriage, as the law changes depending on the state you’re in. Basically my google history was a very interesting read!
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
My multi-fics come from dreams/day dreams I’ve had and wanted to expand on. I’ve always had a really wild imagination with daydreams about my life so I just transfer it to Betty and Jughead. People watching is also fun, on days where I travel for work I use public transport and it’s always fun watching people interact which I used as inspiration for my song writing.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
Well I’m currently attempting one at the moment, it may lead somewhere but it might not. I’m lucky to be friends with an amazing group of people and they really liked the idea and development so I hope I can share it soon.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
I try and write happy stuff because I can’t handle heartbreak and pain but there is something coming up in Jones Industries which I’m not looking forward to writing.
If I’m honest, I’m still quite proud of my first story cross my heart. I was very nervous about posting as the last time I wrote for a fandom was back in 2012 when I was 12 but the response I received was positive and encouraged me to post more.
21.Favorite character to write?
I don’t have one specific character as I put part of myself in every character I write but I have plans for Kevin in Jones Industries and there are going to a few Cheronica flashbacks in, In The Woods.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
There’s a line in Jones Industries from Kevin to Betty “Come on girl, it’s the 21st century. You can fuck and forget.” He says that to her whilst their boss, Jughead, is standing behind them.
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
Every single one, from someone just saying that they love the fic to picking out lines and saying why it’s them favorite, I love them all.
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
Terribly.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
Not really the story but I would tell myself to stop writing stories where I have to plan out a murder(s) and figure out the killer(s) for.
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
I’m enjoying writing Jones Industries (bughead) and it’s received a very good response and I can’t wait to update.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
I haven’t read a book in ages but fanfiction wise, the majority of stories in the Betty/Jughead tag on AO3.
28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
Go for it. It can seem daunting at first but once you get comfortable and establish to yourself what you want to write, just type (or write - your preference) away, even if it’s not in the order you want it to be in, write whilst you have inspiration. Most of the time, I’m on a bus/train/tube when I get inspired to write and I have a lot of notes on my phone that I should really organize. When I don’t feel confident with an idea or story I message one of my friends and ask their opinion (my messages are always open), I know I can trust them to be honest which is what you need to hear sometimes. There are also some really awesome people that are willing to beta read so they’re often a good person to ask too.

I've never met anybody even remotely famous, but my mom talked to Weird Al on the radio once.

My favorite movies are the Star Wars Saga and my all time favorite show is Parks and Recreation.

My favorite artists are The Beatles and Ed Sheeran. I also love Christina Pedro.

My favorite Bughead piece I've written is probably "Stranded" because it got a lot of really positive feedback.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
The hardest plot to write was probably "An Indecent Proposal" because I had to think of ways for Jughead's proposal to get detailed without it being too dramatic, like their expensive dinner got crashed or something.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
Usually ideas just come to me, or I find something that I think would be really fitting for Bughead. Like "Wake Up, Sleepyhead!" was based off of an old vine. And "In the Night" was based off the deleted scene.
18. An idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
I can't write smut. I'm asexual, so I really struggle to get in the zone for writing smut. I also have no idea what goes on lmao but I like to skip over it as much as possible.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
My least favorite character I've written is probably Veronica. I feel like I can't quite do her character justice, since she's not the focus of my story.
I wrote a really good Kevin in one story on my ao3. I'm planning to post it to my blog soon. It's called "Movie Night".

Somebody reblogged my miscarriage fic, "Dear Prudence," with a request for more, so I wrote a follow up for them.
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I haven't had any bad reviews yet, but I'm writing for my own pleasure, so I really don't care what other people think. I'm glad they enjoy it, but if they don’t, I'm not too bothered.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
I would make my word choice better. I want my stories to flow more and sound more eloquent.
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
I wrote a piece for me creative writing class in high school about Star Wars, and I did really well with it. It's probably my favorite thing I've ever written.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
Now I'm reading anything Bughead I can get. I'm very invested in "By Mere Happenstance" by @it-happened-one-starry-night and "Boats Against the Current" by @teapotfiction but I live for one shots

I met the British pop group Steps when I was four.
7. What are some of your favorite movies/TV?
Jurassic Park, Rear Window and The Sound of Music are top dogs for me. Also I never fail to find comfort in watching John Tucker Must Die. For TV, I always put Gavin and Stacy on for a bit of comfort, and then Riverdale obviously. And I really like old Britcoms like Butterflies and Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.

Oh man, too many. Right now I’m on a Fleetwood Mac hype because it’s summer. But I’m a pop-punk gal, through and through, so like Sum 41, Green Day, Blink 182, Good Charlotte, that kinda vibe.

If I really had to pick I think mac and cheese. But there’s this place that does it with brisket burnt ends and that’s about as close to heaven as I think I’ll get.
11. Biggest pet peeve?
Arrogant people, rude people, condescending people. I’m not a people person, evidently.
12. What did you want to be when you were little?
What do you want to be now? I always remember wanting to be an author from a really young age, I used to write these stories and make them into books, I guess looking back you could call it Enid Blyton fanfiction because I used her characters!
13. What are your biggest fears? Do you have any strange fears?
I have a phobia of throwing up and just sick in general, it’s really unpleasant and was very debilitating at one point in my life.
14. When you are on your deathbed what would be the one you’d regret not doing?
I assume that it would be not overcoming my anxiety when it stopped me from doing new and exciting things.
Okay… lets talk about your writing!
15. Which is your favorite of the fics you've written for the Bughead fandom?
I think it might be Ticket To Anywhere, just because it was a piece that had a lot put into it for a one shot, and I didn’t let myself get caught up in a HEA that I didn’t want to include – it actually got written very quickly because I just couldn’t get the words out past enough.
16. Which was the hardest to write, in terms of plot?
Probably Tacos and Tequila, which I’m not the hugest fan of if I’m being honest. Like, I think it could have been about three or four better written chapters rather than shoehorned into a bigger multi chapter. I mean, they’re stuck in one room, you run out of things to have them do. And I didn’t plan.
17. How do you come up with the ideas for you fic(s)? Do you people watch? Listen to music? Get inspired by TV/movies?
I constantly find myself watching things and being like ooh I could turn this into a fic, or listening to a song and thinking of something to go off because of that. And just talking to other people in the fandom is very inspiring.
18. Idea that you always wanted to write but could never make work?
A big, epic fantasy piece, because it requires a lot of planning and that just isn’t my thing.
19. Least favorite plot point/chapter/moment you’ve written?
Maybe the end of T&T because I was getting disenchanted and it felt super rushed.
I really like the first chapter of The Serpent and The Swan, and I know because I actually read it again once it was up and posted which I rarely ever do. I enjoyed the set up and the world I was creating, the tone I was using, the roles I was slipping the characters into.
21.Favorite character to write?
Betty, I think. It’s a lot easier to write a character when you feel as if you can relate to them, understand how they would be feeling and what reactions or motivations they would have.
22. Favorite line or lines of dialogue that you've written?
I’m really bad at recalling my own work, and I’m very much a prose over dialogue writer so I’m not really sure.
23. Best comment/review you’ve ever received?
Any and all comments. I love the ones that analyse my fics like they’re something people have read in English class (the English Lit graduate in me). It just lets me know I’ve created something people have engaged with. But the ones that include keyboard smashes and lots of exclamation marks also hold a special place in my heart.
24. How do you handle bad reviews or comments?
I’m so incredibly lucky that I haven’t really had to deal with this thus far in this fandom. That being said I would probably be absolutely terrible at dealing with it and question everything I’ve ever written or why I’m still writing because I’m so extra.
25. If you could change anything in any of your stories, what would it be?
Like I said before, I think Tacos and Tequila could be entirely overhauled and rewritten into something a little more concise and well thought out.
26. What is your favorite story you’ve ever written? Any fandom?
It’s been a long time since I wrote for another fandom and never as much as this – this is the first one I’ve been balls deep involved in (if you’ll pardon the crudeness). I think I’ll always be proud of Ticket To Anywhere.
27. What are you reading right now? Both fan fiction and general fiction?
Fanfiction-wise, I’m reading and keeping up to date with a lot of multi chapters, but every time @onceuponamirror or @lessoleilscouchants updates my heart does a little flip. And I’m currently reading the book companion to the BBC drama Desperate Romantics, about the Pre Raphaelite Brotherhood.
28. Do you have an advice for writers that want to get into this fandom but might be scared?
You never know until you try. This fandom is honestly so welcoming and supportive that you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain by just jumping in head first.
