The best time to make an insect home is early autumn, so that the bugs have somewhere to hibernate for the winter.

Recycling 2 old Zuperzozial corn starch 3D printed cups into bug hotels ready for winter .

The cups had started to break down after about 10 years of use so we stuffed the cups full of recycled coir (coconut husk ) matting .

I made some tripod legs out off cut hazel poles which were bound at the top with wire all to help encourage bugs to hibernate in the garden .

We’ve spent the morning filling the houses by with lots of lovely bits and bobs for the bugs to crawl into and we left some larger hedgehog sized spaces at the bottom too.
