3. who is your favorite goty?
This is extremely hard especially because I wasn’t especially into the GOTY line as a kid! I never particularly wanted one, I was all about the historicals, and I still only own historical dolls. Recently though I’ve gotten SO into the GOTY line! Marisol was always a huge standout to me even as a kid because I love her collection and outfits, and I love that she’s not just a dancer but one who does all different kinds of dance - ballet, tap, jazz, etc. I’m also recently a huge fan of Blaire because I think she’s a GORGEOUS doll and her collection is really really beautiful. I also think Joss is a really exceptional doll with great outfits and an awesome social impact as the first AG doll with a hearing aid. Truly, I love them all for different reasons, but Marisol and Joss are among the best for me.
7. tell a story of how you got your first doll
I’ve actually told this story before (here)!
I’ll tack on the story of my second doll though, Elizabeth, who I saw in the catalog when she was first released and fell absolutely in love with. Like I did with Nellie, I saved up my own money over the course of about a year and traveled specially to the American Girl Place in Chicago with my mom to buy her. I had been carefully budgeting and making a list of items I wanted at the time, so I actually also bought Elizabeth’s holiday gown and cape on that same day as well!
