Maadian comes from מאדים (ma'adim), the hebrew word for Mars, chosen due to its low oxygen atmosphere. Mismel comes from משרה מלאה (mishra mele'ah), meaning full-time job, and Avatna comes from עבודה קטנה (avada katna), meaning small job, both in reference to the term for a group of moles, a labour. Pup is the term for baby moles.
