Nice score today, now to find the time to mill it all up. We've just had bud burst in the vineyard, so everything is a bit crazy! Australian Buloke.

Some of our smallest remnants often support unexpected species. We found this Saltbush Morethia Skink in a tiny patch of Buloke/Rosewood this week.
A young buloke tree clearing the top of its guard. I wasn't sure if they'd grow on this block, so tried out a couple of tubes, and they're fine. One of the hardest woods in the world, buloke (Allocasuarina luehmannii) is an important wildlife food and habitat tree, and critically endangered here in Victoria. They grow up to 15m and look like this (x, x). They're dioecious, i.e. separate male and female plants, relying on wind to carry their pollen. I planted another couple last year and have found spots for a couple more. I'll need to put a bigger guard around this one to stop kangaroos eating it when grass dries off.
I tried to and managed to finish this one lil doodle concept page + put a few more details of Buloke Iron. tryin not to spoil too hard of course
Ash apples, with Red Gum and Buloke stems.
