I'm annoyed by the word "bourgeois", not because of the concept, but because it's French enough to obscure its real and practical meaning. You can call anything you don't like "bourgeois", without realizing that it first referred to the French middle class who lived in the towns.
To calrify: It's the French version of the German word "Burgher". As in, the people wealthy enough to live comfortably within the city walls. The kind of people who run the town. Your judges, doctors, lawyers, priests, innkeepers, guildmasters, mayors, merchants. That sort. The merchant class, the owning class, the make-you-do-the-actual-work class.
The sort of people that Sweeny Todd murdered, is what I mean.
Freely flows the blood of those who moralize.
