I am a portent.
An omen to the ghosts of my own future.
Lay me bare.
Spread before you.
Study the creases of my skin,
The curse of every furrow.
Every line in skin,
Every roll of fat,
Every wrinkle in my brain,
The fractured networks and burnt synapse they bely.
Bear witness to my
Bitterness.
Every hardened pill I've swallowed.
The welcomes worn,
Allegiances sworn,
And every cent I've
"Borrowed".
The meat outside and the fat within.
The smoothness of each scarred stretch of skin.
An ego so large for a
personality so thin.
The chipped bones
And splintered relationships.
Burnt fences and bridges both.
And as ye look pon my weary frame,
The eyes gaunt for cheeks that wished they'd been hollow.
Make sure you take notes.
This *will* be on the quiz.
