I slapped together this end of the month soup with garbage that was about to rot and scraps that couldn't be turned into a proper meal, seasoned with whatever the hell I jumped out at me on the spice shelf.

A woman I had a crush on in primary school is doing animation work for shows I'm interested in and it's super fucking cool. I used to wish them happy birthday way after we stopped having any reason to talk because we have the same birthday but the last couple of years I've been like "I don't wanna be quirky and weird anymore, that shit's for babies". Which being on this website has taught me is not true at all. Anyway, now I want to talk to them again about their job and their life but I haven't talked to them in years and I don't want to come off as weird but I wish we could be friends even back then. I'm trying to take a nap before work and I can't sleep for how frustrating this false democracy is. We can't bloody well fix anything because "progress" requires checks and balances and incremental implementation to keep the bourgeois cuckolds happy, but they're impetuous brats who already own everything and just do whatever they want.

The hypercapitalists of this country have set the system so that the average Joe Blo simply doesn't have any time or energy to actually consider a political position or reality outside of what gets crammed down their innards by the monopolised crust of media.

The federal government have to be the fun police because we're apparently too skint to apply our vast national gdp to any kind of universal welfare without big brothering the have-nots two thirds of the way into the grave, and this fuddruckery extends into a pseudo-neo-liberal prevention of a cool flag and currency.

It's like every satire of hell rolled into one out here. Come to Australia, where thanks to climate change it's hotter than hell in summer, getting as cold as Dante's final circle in winter and bureaucracy is an eternity of anguish.

Not really any. I got dogged on by my friends for "making the wrong decision" at the end of Ghost of Tsushima. My approach to games is weirdly detached, I can get right into a narrative but every crossroads decision is immediately blunted by "I'll pick the other one next time"

If my direct ancestors had registered at a German consulate when they came to the US I would already be going through the process of getting German citizenship. The only reason I’m not is that they were poor and didn’t have time for it.

Poverty cuts off one’s ties to the old country and makes people say you have no claim to it. Interesting, that.

You know until relatively recently German citizenship only followed the father? Meaning someone born outside of Germany to a German mother and non German father had no right to citizenship.

These rules are made up. They’re stupid rules. Citizenship requirements for residence somewhere are stupid. I’m not allowed to live in a place that I have cultural ties to and have family living there. Is that not stupid? Like what’s your requirements for who deserves to live in a place?

My partner’s dad is exploring Italian citizenship and interestingly enough his grandfather had to renounce his Italian citizenship when he was naturalized an American - but his grandmother didn’t have to because she was a woman. If your ancestor renounced citizenship you can’t claim descent but if they didn’t you can. So currently the family’s citizenship case rests on a sexist legal loophole from the early 1900s.

There’s actually an ongoing issue regarding a Togolese family descended from a German man married to a Togolese woman arguing the family isn’t entitled to German citizenship because Germany didn’t recognize interracial marriage at the time.

You know that’s a pretty bad look for a country supposedly trying to restore citizenship to as many people as possible to correct their past wrongs. I mean Germany does plenty of other stuff to have a bad look just like any other country but this is definitely one of them.

My father's citizenship to the old country (where he grew up) got revoked because he didn't renew his passport. Now, allegedly, the only way to get it back is to dig his parents' birth certificates. Which is probably normal but like he spent every day of his life there for the first twenty years of his existence, there's multiple records of his existence there school, doctors his first two trade certificates, I mean hell there are buildings with his handiwork and pieces of wood with his name carved. And he certainly didn't and wouldn't renounce his citizenship because he spent the subsequent first 20 years of my life complaining about living here and wanting to move back.
