Spell: Burning Gaze

Here at wearesorcerer, we tend to post a lot of fire spells. It’s entirely coincidental: the mun’s favorite energy types are (in descending order) psychic, force, electricity, and cold. The mun just happens to be running a character that has a minor fire theme (but is otherwise C-3PO [by way of Squidward] combined with Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory), so has a lot of fire- and language-themed spells open in tabs for research purposes.

This one’s actually good, though.

Evocation (Fire); Arcanist/Sorcerer/Wizard 2,* Druid/Hunter 2, Magus 2, Mesmerist 2, Occultist 2, Shaman 2, Witch 2

You can set things alight by looking at them; it’s not actually a gaze attack (so averting eyes has no effect), but it’s flavored that way. You can use your gaze for 1 round/level. Switch targets as a standard action.

Deals 1d6 fire to target (if they aren’t already on fire) and can set them and flammable objects they wear alight, dealing 1d6 damage per round until extinguish (successful Reflex save).

Fort negates, Reflex negates catching on fire (both for creatures and attended objects only)

Remember how I said that it’s rather hard to get DoTs? This corrects that. You’ll get four targets at 4th level (when you can first learn the spell), which is probably more than you’ll get with molten orb, and it doesn’t have a friendly fire problem. Of the two, I prefer this one.
