🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?
My Astaroth fic which basically it's us exploring what is Hells and stuff. It's also just a ship fanfic (Astaristo or AstarothxMephisto), but it's thanks to my necessity to know what the fuck was the deal between Astaroth and Mephisto, like how he convinced him to be his loyal dog lol. To the point of leaving him watching over Inarius when Mephisto was banished (because it's very obvious it was him!).
And that phrase of Astaroth like "He never lets me out, but he does when you're around" smth like that in the Sins of the Horadrim season, like talking about the fact that Mephisto has this full control over Astaroth but still would kind of punish him with making him lose and lose against the Wanderer.
AND THEY BOTH KNOW IT, THEY BOTH 'ENJOY' IT.
I need to explore hells, and nothing better than Astaroth for it, he seems to have been there for a hella good time (also my hc that he was born in the Realm of Destruction rather than Hatred). Maybe it's a bit OOC, but Astaroth is depicted as a very intelligent and smart demon in the Ars Goeteia which is my main inspiration for demon ocs and stuff (I gotta get more demonology books). Astaroth is, literally incredible intelligent, like, not a demon you should play with, he's even placed as a Prince of Hell in some writings/grimoires!!!
But, returnign to the main point, it's the fact I really like demons and even if we know a lot about demons in Diablo, it feels very empty, just like Heavens, like we have been there (Diablo 3) but also we don't know more than what is shown to us. Like, we know only the shell, we don't know the insides, and I like to dissect my experiments.
I also wanted to play with the fact that Astaroth really wants a big challenge (which happens to be the Wanderer though we aren't sure if they're nephalem lol. They just have their powers awakened? We really have no clue, because if they were nephalem, then when it comes to group activites, does that mean the other players are not nephalem(?) blah) and like he looks really bored? Like, he's also very chill, he doesn't get surprised easily, all of this instead of making me think he just wants some nice fighting, its mostly that he's old and secondly he problably knows really a lot that most things don't longer surprise.
Like we have seen some demons would just be roaming around in Sanctuary with a goal that doesn't involve killing mortals! And that is interesting. I wonder, what is Astaroth's goal, all demons have a goal, all of them! We know he had kinda a thing with the druids...trying so hard not to link him with the first Druid, like we could just make him the parent to Vasily/Fiacla-Gear lol but at the same time it doesn't fits, at least for me.
Also we totally believe that Mephsito just grabbed Astaroth and placed him in Sanctuary to do destruction, because Astaroth mentiones only Mephisto can like, set him free lol.
Anyways, thats like, the whole rambling of the idea. We will also mention the fact we want to make an animated series for Diablo or just random animatics as we read the books. But right now our main 'priority' is the, Astaroth fic. Making him wander the Hells and learn lmao.
